Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR V3 Discussion
« Last post by mouser on November 17, 2013, 03:20 PM »
My first focus for FARR v3, which I am strongly considering doing for NANY (major new versions of apps are allowed!), is:

1. properly multithread all searching, to eliminate the occasional delays people experience during searching
2. support some optional indexing system

Highlighting in memo area has now been implemented (but not yet released).  It will automatically set to what you filter clips on, but you can set it independently as well.

I will try to add the ability to specify some custom quick actions (like google search but also let user specify some custom ones) both on the memo toobar, and on the quick-paste popup.

Expect a new beta version to test this week.

ooh i like that idea.. i could make it HIGHLIGHT matched text.  And i could have it automatically highlight when you use the main filter, to make it easier to spot the actual words that caused a clip to be matched in the first place.

Stay tuned for an update soon with these features.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Any support for search synonyms?

There's no way to do it now, but i'll consider it -- it's a nice idea.

hmm, you really like to push the envelope dont you :)

I have two workarounds for you:

The first workaround is the one i recommend most -- grab yourself a copy of the latest Beta of LBC, and create a dock that is not full height.  Then you can leave some area to reach the system launchbar.

The second is to take advantage of the fact that LBC ignores corners when it comes time to unhiding a launchbar and use corners to activate your system launchbar.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Suggestion: Updated Find and Replace
« Last post by mouser on November 16, 2013, 04:58 PM »
Making special characters visible is not a bad idea.. As for adding special characters to the search and replace, i think this may be a case where the best solution is to just ask people to look up how to do it using regular expressions.  (you can also use \t and \n in NON-REGULAR EXPRESSION).  Perhaps just having a button that will open a web page showing help on regular expressions would be a good compromise.

Hmm, sounds like we have a bug somewhere.. An Access Violation error is never the correct behavior :)
I may have to try to send you a debug version to help me pinpoint the issue.
I didn't fully understand what you were saying happens in the second case..

UrlSnooper / Re: No network adapters detected!?
« Last post by mouser on November 16, 2013, 04:54 PM »
hi migawka, sorry for the delay in replying.

if windump works, so should url snooper.

Does UrlSnooper show the same network adapters list as WinDump?  Have you tried maybe running UrlSnooper as administrator?

« Last post by mouser on November 16, 2013, 04:49 PM »
There is an option to control grabbing the url from Firefox, you'll find it at the top of the Capture Options tab.

With regards to chrome -- looks like they must have changed something in a recent update that has broken it -- I will look into it and try to fix, assuming it's not google being who they are and deciding they don't need to support such a feature anymore.

I'm not sure I'm following exactly.. can you try explaining it a bit more -- i don't have much experience with Citrix though I know that there are SC users who use it.

kRs, if you are having a problem with OpenOffice, can you make sure you are running the latest version of CHS?  There is a thread from a while ago about some crazy behavior of OpenOffice and how a recent CHS update was released to accomodate the issue.
8590
Hmm. that is really strange, i'm having a hard time picturing it.
It does sound like it's an issue with something triggering the refreshing of the windows.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Question (request?) about red box capture
« Last post by mouser on November 16, 2013, 02:32 PM »
Does red box mode not apply post-capture operations?

As for why it requires an extra step after the capture -- are we talking about the extra dialog presenting you with the chioces about scrolling capture, etc.?  Assuming so, it's just a tradeoff -- the redbox mode takes more steps and lets you do additional stuff.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Program Specific Launch Bar
« Last post by mouser on November 16, 2013, 02:25 PM »
launch bars which are specific for a certain program.
If that program gets focus, this specific launchbar is started or placed on top.

this is actually an idea i've planned to implement for a long time, I just never quite get around to it.  Part of the reason is that there are a few different ways to do it and i have doubts that the right way to implement it.

I should probably just go ahead and implement a first easy version as a proof of concept, and we can go from there..

DesktopCoral / Re: Displaying editable line of text in DesktopCoral
« Last post by mouser on November 16, 2013, 02:19 PM »
Hi dr_andus.

I can definitely see the use in this.
However, it seems to me that this might be better handled by existing tools that display text on the screen.

For example, I know since the beginning of DesktopCoral people have used it with the program Samurize.

So my question is, can you look for some tools that can display text on the desktop at arbitrary locations, and then combine this with Desktop Coral.

Activation/License/Language Help / Re: Newly activated licence key on multi user XP
« Last post by mouser on November 16, 2013, 02:03 PM »
Ok first things first -- you can use the same license key from us on multiple accounts and pcs.  So if you have a home pc, laptop pc, etc.  You can use the same license key (or different ones if you prefer).

Ok now regarding where license keys are stored.  On win XP the license key will go in program files directory.  And in all cases to AppData.  On vista and later, it might be that the license key registered for one user account will have to be put in again if logged in as another user.

More importantly is the question about whether the same configuration directory should be shared by multiple accounts on XP.  If you do not want this on XP you will have to edit the configdir.ini file in the program file directory to tell it to use the USERS documents area for saving settings.

With Screenshot Captor, the dialog tomos showed is for splicing (with effects added).
But it might be more straighforward to FIRST do a normal crop, and then from the SpecialFx2 menu, choose "Border" and then last submenu item is "border effect splice style (ragged effects)"
which will give you this dialog:
Screenshot - 11_15_2013 , 11_57_36 PM.png

Which is mostly the same but lets you choose what edges to apply the effect to.

ps.Fade out is ok, but i personally prefer the ragged edge effects when i want to indicate a crop:

I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or ask for some of whatever it is he's drinking or smoking this week...

ditto.

well it will be INTERESTING, that's for sure.  but if it's a new language in the same way that his book was a new kind of science, it basically means we are going to get a reinvention of Perl with new terms for everything.

if those "sub" areas can be triggered/accessed directly in the same way the main ones can, it might be possible to add them to the cpanel alias.

so i guess the question is, can you make aliases for those "sub" category items?  or is there no good way to open the control panel directly to those sub-areas?
