Beta release:

v1.139.01 - Nov 27, 2013
  • [BugFix] Dropping a file into the middle of a parent's children could have resulted in tree showing incorrect items until preferences closed and reopened.
  • [Improvement] Minor improvements to the preferences/tree configuration UI; split main program options into multiple tabs.
  • [Improvement] Improved layout of command node options and instructions for handling dropped file arguments.
  • [MinorFeature] You can now explicitly rebuild launchbars from the preferences tree dialog from View menu, without closing preferences; this acts as a kind of Apply/preview function.
  • [Change] Enabled the "add padding" option to launchbars by default; this just adds a little padding at top and bottom (left and right) of launchbars.  This is especially useful for making non-full height docking bars.
  • [Improvement] When specifying a menu to be built from file contents, replacements will be made on the filename path specified, allowing you to use virtual folder replacement variables (e.g. %APPDIR% and %APPDRIVE%).
  • [Improvement] It was confusing to new users that the root Options node was where you had to go to change global system options, so I added a View -> Program Options item to menu,
  • [Improvement] LaunchBars won't unhide if a full screen app is running (think Netflix, screensaver, etc.)
  • [Improvement] Some checks for fullscreen app running were failing.

To place something deeper in a hierarchy, just fill out the "Category Path" and specify something deeper (with more periods), and then hit the Refresh Changes button.

v1.09.01 - November 27. 2013
  • [Improvement] Item editor now remembers last file being edited and loads it by default, and loads user sample on first use.
  • [Improvement] Sample items are now moved to user item directory to make it easier for user to get started editing custom items.
  • [MajorFeature] Executable and setup are now digitally signed for extra security; instead of a zip-compatible installer, there are now 2 separate downloads for installer and portable version.
  • [Feature] New daily points options, lets you configure certain amount of points to be added each day and a decay of existing points.  Good for daily spending of points -- for example if dieting.
  • [BugFix] On Windows7/8 some people were not able to change items.
  • [Feature] New portable version available.

What about simple impulse movement using cursor keys (up, down, left, right)?  That wouldn't be hard for player to do while aiming and shooting.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: User directory incorrectly set
« Last post by mouser on November 26, 2013, 05:38 AM »
The key clue is in the 2 side by side screenshots you showed of the LauncBarCommander.ini files for each user.

Those screenshots show that LBC is incorrectly using the .mcp project files from its PROGRAM FILES directory, instead of the respective .mcp project file in each user's directory.

I think this happened because, although i told you before to delete your .ini files, LBC itself was copying the ones in your LBC program files directory into each user's directory on first run.  The new version shouldn't do that.

I've also added code now that should prevent LBC from loading a .mcp project file from somewhere OTHER than where the config (ini) directory is, even if the ini file tells it to, unless its running in portable mode.

Can you try this new beta and let me know if it solves the problem:
https://www.donation...arCommanderSetup.exe
https://www.donation...ommanderPortable.zip

Important:

Make sure you DELETE the LaunchBarCommander.ini and LaunchBarCommander.mcp files in each user's data directory FIRST.

If this still fails to let each user set and remember a different .mcf launchbar file, please show me the .ini files again for each user, as you did earlier.

Did you run the installer, or did you download the portable version and unzip it manually?

ps. Are we talking about Screenshot Captor or Desktop Coral?

ps1 Phew, that was lucky, can you imagine the fix effort if it was corrupting the data as well.
i have nightmares about such scenarios.

no further testing needed.

Can you give us a little more information?  What operating system are you using? Are you running the program portably or?

ps1.
if it's any comfort, the bug you found only effects the DISPLAY of the tree of nodes until the next time you open the options.. it doesnt actually corrupt the internal data.

ps2.
it seems like the bug is actually quite a bit more commonplace than your one case suggests -- it actually seems to happen whenever you drop in a child file item in the middle of a parent's children, above another child which is expandable.

Thanks, 4wd.

Getting back to the original question, can someone summarize whether, if you walk into the room and find your computer has shutdown (or restarted), what tool can you run (if any) to tell you WHY it last shutdown/restarted?

Does this help, from help file:
restartsearch STRING_TO_SEARCH_FOR - restarts a new search by replacing editbox text (use \s at end of line to add a space after the new search string).  Use \n at the end to simulate the pressing of Enter after the search is conducted (useful especially for plugins triggers).
dosearch STRING TO SEARCH FOR - doesnt change the editbox but causes FARR to display results as if user had typed the string.  very useful in conjunction with regular expression patterns.

It sounds like you want to use restartstearch and combine it with a \n at the end.

What verszipo said.  The FindAndRunRobot_launchhistory.ini has the list of last launched programs, so copying that from machine to machine (with or without the main settings) will let one machine have the same initial list of items when you bring up FARR.

ps.
It makes me really happy when a user takes the time to help another user with one of my programs.  Thank you verszipo

N.A.N.Y. 2014 / NANY 2014 Pledge: Progress Bars of Live V2 feature - Zeno's Alarm
« Last post by mouser on November 24, 2013, 10:02 AM »
    NANY 2014 Pledge: Zeno's Alarm

Ok, well I am ending up incorporating this into my Progress Bars of Life utility, but this addition will bring that to version 2, so I'm still considering it a NANY.

Download from the main Progress Bars of Life webpage:
Anyway, so let me tell you what Zeno's Alarm is all about.

Zeno's Paradox (of the Tortoise and Achilles) is a philosophical/mathematical thought experiment concerning the idea that if you always divide up a distance to a goal in half, then no matter how fast you travel the first half, you will always have further to travel... and thus will never arrive at your destination.

Inspired by this, Zeno's Alarm lets you set future events, and it will alert you every time you cover half of the remaining duration.

So where a normal event system would let you set an alarm/alert to tell you when a deadline OCCURS.. Zeno's Alarm is designed to remind you at increasingly frequent intervals as the event approaches.

This might be useful for events when it's important to make sure you don't leave it until the last minute.

    As an example:

So if you set an event that is a year away, you'll get your first alert on screen after 182 days, and the next 90 days after that, and then after 45, then 22, then 11, then 5, then 2, then 1 day, then after 12 hours, then after 6 hours, 3 hours, 1.5 hours, 45 minutes, etc.

(you can of course silence the alerts for an event at any time).

    Sample alert screenshot:

Now that is an interesting question.

Might be time to add some importing options to CHS.

But let's have that conversation in a new thread.  I've started on here: https://www.donation...ndex.php?topic=36599

It seems to me that it's time I added some IMPORT features to CHS, so that you can migrate data to it.

The question for those people who might have data they want to bring into CHS as clips, is what kind of format can you get that data into to make my job as easy as it can be?
