I'm telling you, I f---ing love this program.

Agree.  I just bought a copy last night. Didn't even wait for my trial to expire.

That's not something I'll do all that often. :)
haha...same here!  I held out for like 5 days.

I've established a new semi-rule (is that a word) for myself. Unless something I'm already using isn't working; or I need some capability not being addressed by tools I already have - it's no new writing/ideation software until I complete at least one project I'm already working on.
This is something I am learning from guys like you as well.  As I mentioned, my search for tools like these led me at one point to doing it in Autocad.  Which only works for me because I am a total expert at it, not because it's a good way to do it.  But even then, it was still a bit de-spiring lol.  Like, the inspiration will hit, you try to go record it on the computer...and the tools destroy the inspiration (Visio, Personal Brain). Well, that's no good  :P!

Scapple b--ches!!  lol.

Brain RAM full-->Scapple (snapshot of RAM recorded)-->Flush RAM-->All information recorded, nothing was lost, Brain RAM free for new ideas.  Minimal stress/pain/time.

I've been checking out the other recommendations here...

I still think Scapple is pretty unique, and mainly for it's simplicity.  Several of these other ones *can* do everything Scapple does, but it takes more clicks, more manual reading, more sorting through options/buttons/preferences.  And Scapple is not free, but very cheap $15.

I work with a lot of technical people where English is not their first language.  But they are highly intelligent.  The way we get through our ideas and conversations is with a lot of simple diagrams.  arrows and lines and boxes with text inside.  that's why I like Scapple so much, it can be used in practically real-time to do these kinds of things.  If it were, say, Visio...I'd have to sketch it on paper, take it to my computer, futz around with all the tools for a while, maybe an hour, and come back with the digital ketch.  Scapple...right there, takes a few seconds.  Bam!

I'm even so crazy that I got super pissed at one point (as to the lack of tools I liked) and I started doing all these things in Autocad.  Scapple has already proved to be remarkably effective for me, I've been sending my brainstorms out the past week to my buddies, and it has been excellent.  I'm telling you, I f---ing love this program.

I LOVE this program.  For me, it is the perfect brainstorming tool I've always been looking for.

It's easy to change the look of each element.  It's easy to put background shapes around a selection of elements.  It can export easily as images, pdf, whatever.  You don't need a "center" like most mindmaps.  It's easy to link things together with lines or arrows.  It's easy to do simple alignments of elements.

I've been looking for something like this for years.  I tried a whole bunch.  Things like Personal Brain are too fancy and complicated.  Mindmaps never worked for me at all.  Visio is too much and too hard to do simple things.  I settled on Edge Diagrammer (thanks mouser!) for a while because it was the easiest of those flowchart tools to use.  Regular notetakers and outliners are not freeform enough for brainstorming.

That's my reaction right now because my brain just went "What the f--- is Ocster and how come it's never passed through here before?"

That will get it done!!

Sure does! :o

I think it's a riot how she mirrors Mick's stage moves - and then does them 10X better. Talk about getting pwned! ;D ;D ;D

Definitely check out 20 Feet from Stardom.  These ladies have talent, brains, and above all, class. Their interviews and comments speak volumes about the music industry - and those people that make it work despite their contributions remaining mostly unacknowledged. I expected there to be some bitterness in places. But there wasn't any. Just a lot of laughter, philosophical perspective, and the occasional moments of sadness about the break that never seemed to come despite promises made.

It's on NetFlix. Watch it.
I'll definitely check it out.  I've already watched this clip 4 times. I'm wearing out the grooves.

Just finished watching the docu-bio flick Twenty Feet from Startdom (highly recommended btw) which examines the crucial but often under-credited role of the backup singer.

In the course of the movie, they played this segment from the 1995 tour by the Rolling Stones which included the incomparable Lisa Fischer in an eye opening performance of Gimme Shelter. Lisa kicks into high gear around the 2:25 mark and shows The Stones what fronting a rock vocal is supposed to be about:

Thanks Mick! Why don't you take the rest of the night off and leave Lisa and the boys to handle the rest of the show. :P
  :-* :-* :onfire: :tease:

That will get it done!!

My question is not with security.  I've accepted the fact that email is insecure.  I just want a company to say "we are not allowed to poke around without your consent".  Not, "if we have to, we will poke around all we want, and remove stuff and do whatever we want."  I have no problem with the technology itself, even if it sucks.

Last week, it was revealed that Microsoft had examined the Hotmail/Outlook.com emails of a blogger, who was NOT a Microsoft employee, in order to find who had leaked confidential information to that person.

It seems this is legal because, under Microsoft’s terms of use, the company has the right to examine any user’s data for any reason they see fit.

This is very different from data mining user data to sell advertising, and it makes me wonder why anyone in their right mind would consider using Office 365 for any reason at all.
What's a good alternative?  I am also looking for an email/calendar service with more privacy protection than what is available.  I am not having any luck.  If I don't find one, I am planning on using Microsoft's Exchange Online ($4/month per user) service.

Well, I am a thorough person, so I'd figured I'd share what finally solved my problem.

The problem was with the Bat, not AntispamSniper like I initially suspected.  After several attempts, using the Maintenance Center of the Bat (Folder-->Maintenance Center), it found a couple of errors and fixed them.  Since then, the emails have been filtering properly.

I went back and forth with the ASS developer to find this solution, he was extremely helpful and I love his product.  The Bat support, not nearly as helpful (as expected), although they respond quickly using their trouble ticket.  But the ASS guy uses emails which is much more helpful in this kind of problem solving.

Seriously, why does everything have to behave like a portal these days?

For science! And cake!

Microsoft Office!
It works like it does because our plan
For our precious bottom line
Requires we move you online...

So it's no use crying that it's all a mistake
We'll just keep on trying, and we'll tell you "Eat cake!"
While the meters run
'neath the brave new sun
Of a world where cloud service firms thrive...
hey!  it rhymes!

But it is better than most of what's out there - despite the popularity of all the faux-science and "paranormal phenomenon" shows on the so-called 'science' channels if you're not a diehard UFO or conspiracy buff.

I've been using this for a couple of weeks now.  This is easily the most complete notetaking solution out there currently.  It's basically what Evernote should have been before they went all v3 on our asses.  THings I love so far:
--standalone pc app (rare these days)
--mobile app
--cloud access
--everything syncs nicely (did i mention the desktop app?!!)
--no over-simplification of features, all the necessary buttons are there.
--there's really nothing it can't do

It's my new goto app on my phone for taking notes.  I still use RightNote for dumping things into, but I can already tell it's affecting my workflow there (which is a good thing, it means they are both apps I like).

It is a bit of a slow application, that's my only complaint and probably a big reason why I'll always love things like RIghtNote that are just so fast feeling.

just for your information:

The message headers are not used for the classification via SpamNet.
-Antispam Sniper

Hmmm...I'll have to look into that when I get home.  I want to say that's an option, and I think my SpamNet option is disabled.  NOt sure though.
