ehh, yeah, I've tried T-Clock, but it was a long time ago - actually a VERY long time ago!

I stopped following 2010 because of the lack of week numbers, so I am very pleased to hear that this feature has been made available in the latest "Redux" >version by the White Tiger<. Really fine job!

Thanks a lot, Tom, for informing , and White Tiger for writing!

This is still free from Curt's post.
Updated this year.

New (apparently stable) beta version for Windows 10:
WPanorama version 10.1.2 beta available since August 14, 2015: http://www.wpanorama.com/beta.php

With WPanorama you can display panoramic pictures by letting them scroll horizontally or vertically on the screen. You can use this software to view the gorgeous 360° swiss panorama included with the program, the 3'474 panoramas available on this site or your own pictures in .jpg or .bmp format.
-WPanorama

Normal homepage: http://www.wpanorama.com/wpanorama.php
Revision history: http://www.wpanorama..._version/history.txt
Details of some WPanorama settings and features: http://www.wpanorama...eenshots.php#FreqSet

The package includes a viewer and a screen saver

scrmain.jpg
Before updating from a version 7 or older to a version 8 or newer, it is strongly advised to uninstall the old version, as the files are not installed in the same folders. After the new version is installed, you should move your data files (images and ".wpa" configuration files) from the "C:\Program files\WPanorama\" folder to the "WPanorama" folder located in your personal folder ("My documents" or "Documents").
------------------------------
WPanorama is distributed as a freeware. This means you don't have to pay for it, it has no functionality limitations and you can use it for as long as you want. However, if you really like it and wish to make a donation to its author, you can do it by using "this" link

FF seems to want to freeze or get hung up more often than I'm willing to put up with.

Could "Encrypted Media Extensions" (EME) be the problem? Like some of the other latest Firefox browsers, version 40.0.2 also comes in a "EME-free" version: https://ftp.mozilla.....0.2/win32-EME-free/ I am running this version and it is faster than the normal 40.0.2 -

I have no idea why "Encrypted Media Extensions" should make a difference, but on my PC it did. Not much, but some.

Since Contro has already claimed his free upgrade, it's his to keep forever with no deadline on needing to reinstall it before a certain date.

Surely he must first find & keep the license key?

Product key can easily be found by using NirSoft ProduKey: http://www.nirsoft.n...t_cd_key_viewer.html

I cannot imagine Windows 10 itself should be the problem, Contro. It's more likely the settings in Win 10 that you need to test some more; there are quite many, but at first the right setting can be difficult to even find. Keep looking inside "Settings" and in the security programs!

To help the add-on development community understand how we will enable these improvements, we are making four related announcements today:

We are implementing a new extension API, called WebExtensions—largely compatible with the model used by Chrome and Opera—to make it easier to develop extensions across multiple browsers.

A safer, faster, multi-process version of Firefox is coming soon with Electrolysis; we need developers to ensure their Firefox add-ons will be compatible with it.

To ensure third-party extensions provide customization without sacrificing security, performance or exposing users to malware, we will require all extensions to be validated and signed by Mozilla starting in Firefox 41, which will be released on September 22nd 2015.

We have decided on an approximate timeline for the deprecation of XPCOM- and XUL-based add-ons.

For our add-on development community, these changes will bring greater cross-browser add-on compatibility, but will also require redevelopment of a number of existing add-ons.

We’re making a big investment by expanding the team of engineers, add-on reviewers, and evangelists who work on add-ons and support the community that develops them. They will work with the community to improve and finalize the WebExtensions API, and will help developers of unsupported add-ons make the transition to newer A

Living Room / Re: How Much RAM? 4GB vs. 8GB vs. 16GB Performance - TechSpot
« Last post by Curt on August 21, 2015, 06:59 PM »
Forgive me for talking about things I don't understand.

Every time I explore my collections of music, videos and pictures, using Windows 10 Explorer, I will get disappointed with both Windows and my computer (4GB RAM) because of the ever so slow process of updating picture, video, audio, -thumbnails, icons and data.

audio.png

The slowness makes me dream about lots of extra memory sticks for my machine. It makes me imagine that I can add the picture thumbnails and icons and mp3 data into memory. Can I? Isn't the idea of RAMDisk programs (or eBoostr) that you can take some of your RAM and allocate it, say especially to icons and media files etcetera? How can I ever need only 4 GB RAM? I would expect 64GB to be much better... I know I certainly have a need for more RAM, when I explore my media collections!

1)  Dataram RAMDisk
RAMDisk creates a virtual RAM drive, or block of memory, which your computer treats as if it were a disk drive. By storing files and programs into memory, you can speed up internet load times and disk-to-disk.

2) eBoostr™, working as an alternative solution to ReadyBoost and SuperFetch technologies, implements a different advanced approach to use flash memory to speed up your computer.

The current problems with >Google versus WinPrivacy< made me go searching for VTzilla. It was a little hard to find at first, because I knew the name "VirusTotal" but forgot the abbreviation "VT", so I kept imagining the word "virus" being part of the file name. I repeatedly found some Italian VirusTotal extensions, but not the right one. The right one, (if you're not Italian), is VTzilla, now "signed": https://addons.mozil...refox/addon/vtzilla/

VTzilla 1.5.1-signed

Right-click on any link and scan the target with VirusTotal, scan your downloads with VirusTotal before storing them in your PC, free and easy.

A good one to have.

Google has a False Positive on our WinPrivacy installer. Yet, if you look on Virus Total (A site owned by Google), you will find our software is clean.
-WinPrivacy
2015-08-21_093149.png
The problem is that the group responsible for detecting “Potentially Unwanted Programs” is sequestered from the outside world. There is absolutely no way we’ve been able to find to contact them and from communication with people in the security industry we are not alone in being falsely accused by Google with no way to appeal.

Even using Google’s Web Master Tools does not give a software vendor a way of appealing a false positive.
-WinPrivacy
2015-08-21_093255.png
Because of this false positive, we have moved the WinPrivacy installer to our site at winpatroltogo.com to prevent customers from being blocked from our PLUS data.

However before you can download, you will need to disable the over zealous security in Chrome and regrettably now in Firefox as well (starting with V40) first.
You can disable the warning messages in Chrome as follows:

Open Chrome and go into Settings by clicking on the icon upper right that looks like 3 horizontal lines
Scroll to the bottom and click on Advanced
Uncheck the box “Enable phishing & malware protection

That’s it.
-WinPrivacy
03.png
You can disable the warning messages in Firefox as follows:

Click on the three horizontal lines located in the upper-right of the screen
    Select Options
Next, click on “Security” in the left hand menu
In the General section, uncheck “Block reported attack sites”

We are sorry for this inconvenience, but in the end this is because of Google and their insistence to hide behind the Internet and automation and refusal to interact with human beings. If you do not like this inconvenience, uninstall Chrome and uninstall Firefox.

it talks about a System Update Readiness Tool from Microsoft’s website.

Windows 7 32-bits: http://www.microsoft...details.aspx?id=3132
Windows 7 64-bits: http://www.microsoft...etails.aspx?id=20858

This tool is being offered because an inconsistency was found in the Windows servicing store which may prevent the successful installation of future updates, service packs, and software.
-System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7

modified:
oh, a better page for all windows systems:

http://windows.micro...pdate-readiness-tool

What is the System Update Readiness Tool?

The System Update Readiness Tool can help fix problems that might prevent Windows updates and service packs from installing. For example, an update might not install if a damaged system file prevents the update from recognizing the version of Windows that's running on your computer.

If your computer is having problems installing an update or a service pack, download and install the tool, which runs automatically. Then, try installing the update or service pack again.
To download and run the System Update Readiness Tool

Click the link in the table "below" that corresponds to the version of Windows running on your computer.

half of my "seriously?" was because I found it unlikely that you didn't remember Splinter. The author got quite some attention 3 years ago when he launched Splinter here on DonationCoder's forum - some of it because he talked like an lifestyle advert, instead of a pedagogic instructor - and some of it because it was (is!) very difficult for him to explain what the program actually does. His homepage: http://spli-stuff.blogspot.co.uk/

Oh, of course: His program is a system for grouping the desktop icons.

Can someone explain it?  I'm not going to look at a video just to see about software...

^seriously?

 :-[

This is from dmd7978's first post about Splinter:

Splinter is a real-time still imagery in motion desktop interface / super simple imagery based programming language, and the ultimate desktop customizer. It turns your desktop into Wonderland, where the impossible becomes possible, and it is only limited by the imagination.

It combines the 5 most commonly used desktop application functionality genres:

File Launcher, Icon Docking Station, Stack Docklet, Wallpaper Flipper, Visual Style Editor

in a unique way, giving it uniquely amazing abilities that have never been seen
-dmd7978
http://deema78.deviantart.com/
-deviantart
... many people still haven't realized that NOTHING you see within a splinterface is "animation" There is no animation with Splinter. There is ONLY a STILL PNG IMAGE OPENING. It opens from one set of variables to another. It is called "splanime". Using the three sets of variables, you are able to make a still image opening appear as though it is pre-recorded / frame by frame animation.

This is key for two reasons. One, it means that everything is always and forever editable, simply by changing out the image or adjusting how it opens. Two, because since they are "just" still images, they are no different than any other "icon" (either standard desktop icons or a 3rd party dock icon). Meaning that they are able to be hotlinked just like any other "image"/icon
Hi. Thanks again for the reply. Yes, absolutely, splinter can do exactly what you ask, it just does it "differently". I would gladly create/show how/or anything else for ANY specific request or question, it just needs to be asked.
-dmd7978
Re: Splinter go here to read dmd7978's thorough and enthusiastic answer to me.
I genuinely don't know what to make of this (Splinter).

Splinter claims to be a revolutionary new way to interact with Windows. It's a visually rich launcher, I guess, with a massive amount of (allegedly) simple ways to customise things.

I've been trying to persuade the author to add some words to the many, many pictures on his site but he seems to be struggling to clearly communicate the features, benefits and so forth of Splinter without getting, well, so deep into what you can do and how easy it is that you lose track fast.

oh no, videos just about software!

Welcome, jessegilbert1. Wow; you are not afraid of competition!  I wish you the best of luck!

but it all was about time:

wordzilla really wants someone to rewrite mobysaurus..
i've talked with a few people and made some progress but nothing major so far.

You were of course already aware that you have advertised your program right where the most competent predecessor was living! I still use the fantastick (but very old) Mobysaurus Thesaurus ("Mark II" version 1.0.55) by Anderson~Wordzilla. Now, Mobysaurus has clearly been abandoned, so sadly it's no longer working in up-to-date Firefox etcetera. But Mobysaurus is still working perfectly on Windows 10 (with or without MS Word installed) in WordPad and other basic~old editors. It's also still working in perfect harmony with the mighty WordWeb 7, and even with an endless amount of implemented dictionaries and word lists, the reaction time is always less than a second.

So, I really wish you the best of luck ;-)

I have no icons on the desktop, I keep them all in True Launch Bar [TLB].

TLB for Win 10 is in Beta. It's not yet pretty to look at on Win 10, but what is. An example: I had to make the Windows Taskbar icons smaller (in order to match the icons in TLB), but I would much prefer, if I could make the TLB icons just a little larger instead. Other than that, I have found no bugs / errors.
