I did add it to the new beta.
You can select the option from the Gear icon, and on one of the options tabs somewhere (the red box option tab).
7832
sure, send it over ([email protected]) -- i might be able to set up a metro virtual machine i can try.
7833
I think if you just uncheck that option on "Window Capturing 1" that says "Try to capture Aero Glass", it should work just like the 3rd screenshot.
I'm trying to think what would have caused it to give you the Vista look in screenshot 2.. i wonder if one of the odder options you changed caused that..

If you capture entire screen, you get proper Metro look right?  In that case there is no reason that SC shouldn't be able to give you the same look at screenshot 3 if you turn off the attempt to grab transparency..

I probably should disable that and not make it default.

Well it says it's for blackheads but i wouldn't use it for that; but the process is the same for pimples.  you put the hole over the pimple with the round side down and press -- it basically applies lots of pressure in a fairly benign way.
Essentially: If you are compelled to pop a pimple, this is a better way to do it than trying to use your fingers.

Well you are right, the background is no longer transparent.

Now the question is why..

Can you go back to the point where you deleted the background and it was transparent in SC.

Then go look at these options:

The flattening is what you want to avoid.  So if you are doing a SaveAs, you'll have to UNCHECK that option that says to flatten when doing a SaveAs.

dont see anything attached.

SC is quite happy to preserve background transparency so there is no reason it shouldnt work.

We're all friends here, right?  So I won't be embarrassed to post and say I wish I had this gadget years ago:

what file format are you using? as long as you are using PNG, ScreenshotCaptor should preserve true transparency.
if you save to a format that does not support transparency (bmp, jpg), then SC has no choice.

I need to set up a bitcoin account somewhere for receiving donations -- Renegade was telling me how to do it but I dropped the ball.  Stay tuned.

I don't want to clutter up the post-capture dialog any further, because it will overload people.

However, i could add some ways to send a signal to SC (via second instance commandline option) to do things like this (switch format or do a change of format).

That's odd, I have installed 2.5.8.0 and it only had the normal OpenCandy crap. Nothing else hidden away, no Conduit or anything.

Sometimes even the official web pages will redirect you to a site like cnet, which can bundle adware -- i know ccleaner has been known to do this (and offer an alternative less visible clean download alternative) -- maybe you ran into something like that, or enough people complained that they quickly changed the download.

Screenshot Captor / Re: taking screenshot WITHOUT saving to file
« Last post by mouser on April 24, 2014, 07:55 PM »
Yes, SC expects that there will be a folder available for storing and viewing screenshots -- that's just how it works -- it's always monitoring a current screenshot folder and displaying a list of the images in that folder.  While it does have options to tell it not to save images -- it really wasn't meant to work that way -- and i always encourage people to give in to letting SC at least save a single file (the last capture).
