Just to emphasize something: Many of us on this thread are fans of using multiple partitions for the OS and data, etc. when you have a large drive (or putting them on different physical drives).  It's just that when you have a small hard drive like this, the downsides far outweigh any upsides.

Welcome to the site thenelson.

Ok I think this will solve your problem:  On the options tab there is a checkbox for "Hide border completely on Vista/Win7 (or set CheckBoxHideVistaBorder=1 in your ini directly).

Check that box -- I think that will prevent the standard windows border which i think is responsible for preventing the size from going below 14.

Let me know.

Seem to be unanimous.

But just an aside -- your question was "what is best : to split C:/ into two partitions, or re-size (i.e. reduce) C:/ so as to free unallocated space and create a new partition?"

Now I'm not up to date on the latest partition managers -- but I have not yet seen one that will actually do your first option (split a partition into 2); every one I have ever seen all would have required you to first shrink your existing partition and then create a new one after it.

I have to agree with Ath -- with only 80gb, I'd stick with one partition.  Otherwise you are *VERY* likely to find yourself a year down the road and out of space on one of your two partitions.

Can you try the latest beta:

here (or portable).

And try invoking a second instance after the first is running, with commandlines:
-ccpath  (copy current/last screenshot filepath to clipboard)
-ccbitmap (copy current/last screenshot image bitmap to clipboard)
-ccfile (copy current/last screenshot file to clipboard)

Uncertainty: Einstein, Heisenberg, Bohr, and the Struggle for the Soul of Science Paperback - by David Lindley
uncertainty.jpg
Fantastic read but drops the ball a bit at the end.

Quantum: A Guide for the Perplexed Paperback - by Dr. Jim Al-Khalili
quantum.jpg
Quite good so far -- tiny bit of history, mostly science.

See also my previous post on one of my favorite books about history of Quantum Physics: "Quantum: Einstein, Bohr, and the Great Debate about the Nature of Reality" by Manjit Kumar

Anyone interested in science needs to read about the history of quantum physics -- it's amazing, inspirational stuff.

Well i already have code to detect second instance and pass on the commandline paramwters to the first instance.

But, you have a point and an idea -- which is to make a tiny dummy second instance exe that serves no other purpose than to pass along the commandline to the first running instance.
Not a bad idea at all -- and in fact could be done as a generic utility that would work with all of my apps..

Commandline switches would be easier to code, but i fear it might introduce a delay that would be annoying for these particular functions.
Ok let me see what i can add.

I have been planning to rewrite the hotkey system in SC to make it much more flexible and let user configure some custom hotkeys.. so it is on my todo list.
However, let me say this -- one EASY thing for me to add would be some commandline switches or windows-messages that would do common things like you are asking, that you could use with a standalone hotkey tool.
Do you have a standalone hotkey tool that is capable of sending windows messages to a running app?

Developer's Corner / Re: No .NET Framework, no problem!
« Last post by mouser on May 07, 2014, 08:06 AM »
My biggest objection to C#/.NET has always been the runtime shenanigans. So this to me is incredibly interesting, especially if the produced .exe is as small as the typical C# project output but still completely portably non runtime dependent.

I'm not so concerned with size but agree whole heartedly that there is some real pain associated with having to worry if the user has the right version of .net stuff installed, so this would be a big improvement.
7815
rightmouse drag is ESSENTIAL for working with large images in SC.

I'm not following what you are saying.

Anyone test the new manual scrolling capture?
7820
Nice idea.

One certainly could make an html viewer tool which did as you suggest, using an embedded web browser, which would be fast.

But there would also be some some use for a generic utility that showed a list of files and as you "arrowed-down" through them would cause them to be opened in another program.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Recovering past text
« Last post by mouser on May 01, 2014, 07:49 PM »
No, it's not possible.  Only stuff copied to the clipboard AFTER the program is installed and running are captured and preserved.
There is no tool that can retrieve older clipboard items.

Developer's Corner / Nice Long Read: The Great Works of Software
« Last post by mouser on April 30, 2014, 06:48 PM »
Nice long blog essay looking at some influential software programs.

So I set myself the task of picking five great works of software. The criteria were simple: How long had it been around? Did people directly interact with it every day? Did people use it to do something meaningful? I came up with the office suite Microsoft Office, the image editor Photoshop, the videogame Pac-Man, the operating system Unix, and the text editor Emacs.
