hmm. hopefully i'm just being dumb...

i was hoping the report feature would allow me to see which files have been revisioned, i.e. only the files that have been modified within a Watch.

could be any day, any time, with any number of saves. i just want to know which files i've tampered with and which i've definitely left alone.

not sure I understand exactly (I get the feeling I'm missing something):

you can see the revisions made within one watch - first click the watch folder in the tree.
Then in report window:
  • Untick the 'Show selected dates' option (all revisions then shown)
  • Ticking 'Show newest Revisions' will limit it to one revision per file.
  • Sort by filename. That's you're files that were modified.

thanks, i was wondering about this Report feature now that i've installed it. I was expecting the Report to give me a "report", as in, create a report as a file to read through. maybe that was a bit naive of me. i'm sure once i get to grips with how the report panel works i'll realise this is all i need.

I've hardly used that aspect of it, but if you select relevant files there is an option in the context menu to export a report to spreadsheet or txt file.

In case you havent seen it,
this thread - Using FileHamster to keep track of status of a job - will give you more of an idea of the report window, & how I use it. I quote: It's not rocket science, but I've found it very helpful

i found myself requiring the "reports" feature that comes with FileHamster Advanced.

so, i've just bought it using the discount link above - which still works fine. very good value for money if you ask me.

Great!
The report window is great also for simply browsing the backups and sorting them by name date etc. similar to a regular file manager (as opposed to the Revision List view which isnt up to much I find)

^ well it's pretty obvious a bunch of people here disagree with you Zaine!

I think I've gotten a better understanding of the ribbon with the, eh, haggling that's been going on here about it. It sounds interesting.
I dont see any reason though (for me) to pay double the price of Softmaker Office (for the Home & Business MS version). If you've got a lot invested in it though it's not outrageously priced for a home business user.

Notice that the post you linked to was made four days after the post here that mentioned that feature?   8)
Note that I'm new on this forum (but have been on XY forums for years and feel I know what's current) so when I saw something here that wasn't maybe quite up to date with status there, I thought it approp to mention that aspect...

and thankful I was too to be notified (especially of such good news!) - I had posted there but had forgotten to tick the notifications box :)

I've found Printliminator bookmarklet to be very easy to use with Firefox.

You might consider for this purpose Readability (http://lab.arc90.com...riments/readability/ ), which is the best bookmarklet ever, automatically reformatting the page and getting rid of the crappy ads and navigation while magically figuring out what stuff it should keep.

came across this elsewhere and wanted to post about it but found it here - it really is super to tidy up a page and make it readable/printable

There is also the free Scribus (http://www.scribus.net/) - I did post about it here a while back but I'm not really qualified to comment much about it in the sense I'm not familiar with the two big layout programmes.

[edit] I'm not familiar with Scribus either, just messed around with it a bit a few years ago. [/edit]

It seems you currently have to get it via "a Tab Candy-enabled build" of firefox, i.e. you cant get it as a simple extension, only with full Firefox.
I'm not that interested - yet.
7660
I like the sound of it, especially 'Save for later', well more the possibilities of it - it could be like a cross between 'tab-mix-plus' and 'Session Manager'.
The advertising might be a pain.
I really probably should take mitzevo's advice on board though!

is Quark Xpress the best program to make a leaflet? any opinions?

Some more info would probably be helpful.
Is a leaflet like a flyer (one x  A4 or similar size double-sided-print) or multiple pages ?
Is it going to be professionally printed?
Do you have Quark Express? What are your other options?
Are you familiar with it? (how much time do you have on your hands? - it might be worth getting it professionally done unless you actually want to spend the time learning to use a programme.)
etc etc

+1 for Softperfect Office

I presume that's +1 for SoftMaker Office . . .

And these same American businesses wonder why the rest of the world is starting to look elsewhere?

hopefully rest of world will keep them on their toes (eventually)
7664

It's also possible the current user doesnt even know it was stolen
7665

Wow, that's really pushing things - no upgrade price!!
I'd still go for Softmaker Office myself @ $80 with a helpful forum (if a little defensive at times) - but I'm not an advanced user so cant really compare it with Word etc.

That is nice, I now have five tabs open continuously for the weather...
Unfortunately they all say rain for a whole week ahead :o

I was surprised not to see a bunch of (obvious) feature options, in XYplorer. So, if I don't care to learn some scripting, I might not be satisfied with XYplorer. Is that it?

I'm only a casual user and am definitely not an advanced one.
I know it currently can't open a zip file as a file folder - but it looks like it *might* get 'proper' zip management soon.

a couple of my favourite features:
- that you can custom multiple file associations = on opening a file with Alt+Enter you are presented with a choice of programmes to open the file with (needs a little initial setup work - it's easy to do).
- that it keeps a selected file in the same place in a list no matter how you sort the list (minor - but it's a real treat if you use file sorting much)
- very good search
7669
ah yes :)
seen you having a dig on a TC thread lately so thought I'd get one back ;)
XY is a very nice file manager so enjoy!

Since installing the version 5, I notice that at start up it's not minimized to tray?

I've had that problem for a while, might be best to report it directly to the author who is very helpful & responsive http://www.superflexible.com/contact.htm or they have a forum somewhere there.
7671
Well, I knew them all AFAICS. Anyway, I found out that there's no need to know it anyway...

OK, now I got two file manager licenses.  :D

all you need now is TC . . . lol

"Microsoft Extends XP Life to 2020" is a bit misleading. It's a downgrade option from Windows 7 that is extended
Read the source article for more info http://windowsteambl...-service-pack-1.aspx
Customers who purchase Windows 7 PCs with end user downgrade rights as provided in the software license terms (EULA) will be able to downgrade to Windows XP Professional on those PCs for the life of the PC. [there's more to that too...]

Extended support of XP will still end April 2014 - anyone know, does that mean no more updates after that time as well?

it only works erratically here, no matter which setting (also FF 3.6.6)
it will work for a while and then not - no obvious logic to it...
