Change Of Address (COA)

COA2 is from 2001, before XP. Does any of you know about another program, for XP??

- and if you don't, then: Is such a program to big a meal for code snacks??

I tried to make CacheSort work with the Firefox cache as well, but couldn't do it - I am not much of a programmer...

Will you make CacheSort sort both the Firefox cache and the Internet Explorer Temp in one go ( i én og samme arbejdsgang)? I would expect both results to go to one and the same folder.

Daniel Petri, a Microsoft MVP from Tel-Aviv, collects all there is to know about Windows 2000 and XP. His collection of direct links to Windows 2000 Resource Kit tools is AWESOME. And I noticed there were links to XP tools as well.

I am not blind to Maxthon - not at all - but I was so disappointed by the Danish version not being updated (Maxthorn version 1.2 versus the English versions 1.5.8.120 or 2 Beta), that I didn't bother. Both my IE and my Firefox are in Danish, and all updated.

it would only work with IE6 and not IE7. I would essentially be making a project that would be intended to die with IE6.

I am most surprised that no one have had anything to say on this matter!
Does this mean that IE 7 has Restart - and that you all have IE 7 (if IE at all)??

I use IE 6 (and Firefox), and will not change to IE 7 for some time, and I find the feature Restart most useful. Don't you?

Or is it, that it was not just a snack, I was asking for
- that it is too big a lunch for "Coding Snacks"??
If so, please forgive me, for not knowing what I was asking for!

Glad you like it.  I love those little programs that make life a little easier.  That's true about extending the click options, that would be nice.  I personally use the double-click to shutdown, and just right-click the icon for anything else.  I also customize the tray icon so it's not that weird window with a moon icon...I replace it with the red XP shutdown icon:

I have now tested Quick ShutDown for some days. And because it works just fine, I never tested the other programs that were recommended - but thank you guys, for taking the time to address my case!

Quick ShutDown is O'Kay!

But I was disappointed by one little mis-feature: my Quick ShutDown version (294.400 byte) will only give me the choice between "on single click: this OR on double click: that", instead of the more obvious choice: "on single click: this AND on double click: that"

There is room for improvement, but the program is from 2003, so will there be any update?

I was surprised to read all this. I have been using Outpost for some years now (today: Outpost Pro 4) - and must admit it took some time to learn how to use it - but the scenario you're describing, is not my experience.

If you trust your various programs you should add them (including Antivirus, etc.) to "Trusted applications" in Options > Application..., or "Partially allowed", and Outpost will run smoothly.

It is my understanding and believe that Outpost Pro is the most effecient firewall you can have for a home-pc. Even more if you install all the various plug-ins. It takes some effort to 'adjust' , but the users forum will help you a lot: http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/

I've not been able to find any extension / program with the feature "Restart Internet Explorer". I'd expect there is such a program, but I don't know of it. But having had Firefox(with extension "Restart Firefox 0.3") for some months now, I have become very addicted to this feature  , and wonder how I ever managed to live without it...

Of course, this should be a job for Microsoft, but would you please consider to make Internet Explorer be able to restart at the present page - or please tell me the name of a program that will???

I have looked at SmartClose and read about CloseMany, and others, but I need another 'version', say “AutoClose”.

Every now and then 3 of my programs will hang and not close properly. Because of this I am using Microsoft UPHClean (“UPHClean is a service that once and for all gets rid of problems with user profile not unloading.”) – but it is far too gentle; these 3 programs will not always shut down, and will sometimes ask me annoying questions.

This is where I was thinking about DonationCoder  . It seems to me that you must be the right experts to write a small program (“AutoClose”) to close certain programs when Close Computer is clicked. Not demanding any actions from me, but working as an integrated part of the normal Close Computer: “Close certain programs when Windows is closing computer, and if they will not close, then brute kill them.”

Please!?

The problem about lost changes is of course my problem. When I click Close, I want my PC to close! I want to be  able to click Close Computer, and walk away, knowing that of course it will close, as I told it to.

I use a StartUp program, so I will not expect AutoClose to handle any startup.

Windows have a feature that will make Explorer remember the folder settings, but at least my Windows 2000 will not remember all the settings the way I want them to be, only some of them. Whenever I open, say, ControlPanel, it will open in Details:

- but i want it to display Large Icons.

I believe I have tried every combination, using Folder Settings, but none will remember all settings, only some of them.

BUT IF you would make some sort of DLL to add the feature to right-click-in-folder or add to Expplorer Toolbar Drop-down Menu; Show / Display (or what? I am not familiar with the English terms), giving the choice to click "Remember This Folder Setting" - or something.


 Pardon my Fre.. English - Did anyone understand what I am looking for?

Firefox has taught me tab-browsing. And with IE7 being for XP and Vista only, I and my Win2K would shure like IE6 to able to "Open in new window blur" (or what the English term might be, saying 'out of focus') from the right-click menu, instead of always stealing focus.

Dr.Windows / The Doctor won't remember timer

Dr. Windows seems to be set to trigger every 24 minutes. When I adjust the timer, it will not remember my setting after next startup, but again trigger every 24 minutes. Please let your next update solve this little issue. I would feel more safe if it had a save button.

2. you might want to make a backup of your configuration launchbar files while you are experimenting, just in case.
I will do that when I install the program again.

3. AllStartMenu is not working for you?  what windows operating system version are you using?

Most likely there is nothing wrong with your program, but during this 'studycase' of LaunchBar Commander my PC began to be unstable. After re-boot several icons did not display in SysTray as normal. After 15 (FIFTEEN) re-boots and a lot of trying this and trying that, it now seems to work almost normally again, but two icons are still missing. I guess I'll have to re-install / repair Windows, but I don't have the installation-CD anymore, so for now I'll just have to accept things as they are.

I think I will install your program again tonight,
but right now I wanna see some ball being played. 
- it's late afternoon here in Denmark.

i know the problem - it has to do with windows keeping multiple start menu folders, one for the user, and one for all users.

ok so, here is what you should do:
first, as a temporary measure, create a new folder contents menu in the tree and select "StartMenu" from the drop down folder contents list, instead of "AllStartMenu".

now you will have 2 start menu buttons, which combine to show you what you see on your normal start menu.

then in the coming week or so i will correct the behavior to show all from BOTH the all start menu and user start menu, which i thought i already did.

I did not follow the manual 100%; I did not choose StartMenu or AllStartMenu from the drop down folder contents list, but I directed the "Root Folder to Display" to  C:\Documents and Settings\Curt\Menuen Start\Programmer\Tilbehør
- so maybe there is nothing for you to correct (except me)??
