Darwin, I was seeing that same behavior not long ago (2 explorer processes). I also use PS Tray Factory but I don't think it was the culprit. QT Address Bar or TabBar maybe? I dunno....

I think the methods mentioned in this thread all work only if you are manually shutting down.  If not, I apologize in advance.  (I'm going to try them after posting this)  Does anyone know how to eliminate such shutdown-stopping dialogs completely?

Welp, I integrated SP3 yesterday and then did my usual nLite routine. No problems so far. Since upgrading to SP3, explorer hasn't crashed once (strange...very strange :D ). I'll give it a couple days and see what happens.

I didn't need any of the updates I used for my SP2 builds other than one special update that supposedly is included in SP3 but didn't work. I had to replace it with another update.

I was hoping .NET would have been integrated but ending up have to manually install it yet again.

Ok Deozaan, I know what you're talking about now. I heard about other people having this same problem and I'd totally forgotten about it. I guess other than a floppy, you could use a USB device (and for that you need a motherboard that supports the proper functions).

f0dder, every time you load a M$ product (or any other for that matter), you are beta testing on your machine. There is no such thing as a "final" release.

Sweet. I think this is better than the original concept.

I'm hoping it can scan your system and automatically check off the updates that you don't already have. It would be easier to omit the stuff that I really don't want.

Yeah, I snagged it this morning when I woke up. Although I love Inno Setup, I've always wanted to try Smart Install Maker. From what I can see from the interface, you could probably setup a fairly complex script with ease.

I'll install it and check it out this weekend (as I've already extracted the registration info from that lame activation exe).

Not true. I downgraded from Vista to XP SP2 earlier this year because someone told me SP2 supports SATA no problem, but I still had to install the drivers manually. Which was impossible because I don't have a floppy drive in this machine. This machine was useless for about a month until I took it for about a 2-hour drive to my parents and borrowed a floppy from one of their machines.

I think you mean RAID. XP supports SATA interfaces.

You can integrate drivers into your XP install disc. Then they are automatically installed when you load Windows, no floppy drive or interaction needed.

Yes, you can add any installer, but you must know the switches for many of them. Some are obvious, some are not. Basically this is very confusing to many users, thus the creation of these CAB archives to simplify the process for people that just want to make a disc and not have to spend hours trying to add some extras. BTW, the only archiver I've used that can make proper CAB archives is Renegade's ALZip. Not even WinRAR or 7-Zip can do it properly. Probably not WinZip either.

I just downloaded SP3 build 3244 RC1. I'll be integrating it into an unattended install later tonight using nLite. So yes....soon I'll be checking it out (by tomorrow morning hopefully).

I didn't have to change the registry to get it though, I just downloaded the torrent!  8)

I use nLite all the time. It's the only way I've installed XP for the last 2 years. The only thing I add to it is WinRAR, XP updates and drivers.

BTW....if you use nLite a lot, you may want to know about this site. ;)

Weird...I didn't know about WUD until now. Thanks for that. I don't use RyanVM stuff at all as I prefer to compile my own updates. So far, I get my updates here and then add them to my nLite folder.

Yeah, they finally fixed that lame tag dialog...I was waiting for that for years. Other then that, Winamp has always been awesome.
