Find And Run Robot / Re: Can't work out how to get more than 4 suggestions
« Last post by mouser on July 22, 2014, 06:36 AM »
why are other searches that resulted in files being clicked/chosen not added to these 4?
they certainly should be.

however, there are cases where they wouldn't be.  there is a setting to disable adding new items to the launch history you may have enabled, or if they are items on a network drive there is an option to not add those.
also note that non-file items are not added to the launch history list.

Are you sure you have more than 4 items in your launch history?
Check the "Launch History" tab in options, near bottom.

I have to say that the mead was the most satisfying -- only because as good as the beer was, and as fun as it was to make, it didn't rival the best store bought beer.

>Really? I'm pretty shocked.

you show me how to brew a beer better than a pint of Guinness poured from a bar tap and I'll eat my hat.

I had another opportunity this weekend to use a cheap tiny little gadget that i love:

Neiko 03044A Mini Ratcheting Screwdriver and Bit Set, Pocket Size Close-Quarters ,1/4-Inch Drive

Screenshot - 7_20_2014 , 5_24_59 PM.png

This is a bit-taking screwdriver that can be used when you have virtually no access clearance -- it's tiny and it has a ratchet feature so you can tighten or untighten without removing the bit from the screw. It's only $8 and it's about 5 inches long and 1/4 inch thick.

I want to tell you a story about my early days of homebrewing.

This was back in about 1986-1988, that range.

I was walking around the house distracted and not looking where i was going, and our cat ran in front of me and i stepped on the cat.

A cat owner's worst nightmare then occurred -- I heard the cat's bones break under my feet.   I looked down to see blood on my foot and my stomach tightened up and I felt physically ill and started to panic about what had just happened.
Then I saw the cat out of the corner of my eye, and it was just sitting there looking at me, in no apparent pain.
Then I looked down again at my foot, and I saw what had happened.  That damn cat had finally figured out a way to get the glass fermentation lock+stopper off the 5-gallon beer fermenting in the pantry, and had been dragging it around with her and she dragged it right under my foot.  Sure enough I had cut myself on the fermentation lock.

So learn from me: Do not let your cats go near your brewing containers!

welcome to the site sX   Jody (Skwire) is going to enjoy reading your post -- though he is on vacation for the next few days with family.

just fyi:
Personally I was reluctant to donate as I had myself convinced it would end up in a commercial form

Jody has been making apps on this site for 10 years and his apps have always remained free.  I hope everyone will remember this and send him some donations to let him know his work is appreciated.

I've uploaded hamradio's latests -- i think they look pretty good.

I'm probably going to make a fool of myself here, since I am not an expert on Cthulhu stuff, but watching that video did *not* ring completely true to me.

In fact, my impression was that he got the key, fundamental point wrong.

His focus on the specialness of Cthulhu was that "Cthulhu represents our fear of the possibility of our own human smallness.. Cthuhlu presents us with the revelation of forces that are so much larger than us that they're beyond our control... The fear in Cthulhu is not that it's powerful, it's that it's powerful on a scale that we can't even comprehend."

Again, I may be speaking out of my ass here, but that is *not* they key element from my perspective.

They key element as I understood it was the idea of something so horrific and alien and scary that your mind could not process it, and it drove you mad with fear.

Now some of his conclusions are still valid -- but I do think that there is some importance in reconciling whether the key aspect of Cthulhu that needs to be captured in games is whether the player is up against forces so large and vast and uncontrollable that the player can never escape/win/etc.  Or if the key aspect to be captured is that the player is constantly fighting against going insane because learning about Cthulhu will beyond their ability to process without going insane.

I'm not saying that the Cthulhu stories don't feature vast forces so large that they are beyond our control.. I'm just saying that I don't read that as the key, core element.  Madness seems the key to me.

7413
Those look great.

I put ham's "last_post.gif" in place immediately.
I tried the "new" but it seemed a bit "too" big and stark to me..  might need something in between current and new -- maybe just 12-14 pixels tall?
7414
Ath was suggesting that both be improved.

Ha! I never thought to click that icon!  Had no idea that it was even clickable.
7418
Not sure what icon you're talking about.. screenshot?
7419
That makes some sense.  If someone makes a new larger (taller) icon and i added some whitespace, that might do the job. anyone?

It would be good to have another hotkey such as Ctrl+Shift+C to copy text to a specific  folder such as CT New, Ctrl+Shift+Z to another folder such as Ultrasound New, etc.

this does sound useful.. but a bit tricky.

as an alternative, one idea i had was to let user easily change what group to send new clips to, and i could let the user customize hotkeys to switch between groups.  so you wouldnt have a hotkey to copy a new clip into a group, but rather hotkeys to switch which group subsequent clips go into.

I didn't follow the other requests.

I will add this to the next release.
7424
Is there a possibility to put the focus back to the last active window?

it's a very good idea -- i will try.

$uniquenum$ adds a counter with three digits.
What will happen if I capture more than that amount?
I guess it will continue with 1000,... but the padding is not accurate any more.

correct.
however, keep in mind that for the padding to be "inaccurate" would require you to have screenshots with same name past 9999 counter.

I can imagine such little cross-hair buttons on the MiniCap window, to drag&drop onto the window in question to show the wanted details...

minicap does have something like this already -- it can start up and let the user select the object to capture using the redbox that automatically selects windows under cursor.

but it's not a bad idea to have that function report extra info about the window/process being selected.
