Post New Requests Here / Re: Finding the path of a file on your computer

A tray utility that showed RECENT files and RECENT folders when clicked would solve this and be a nice coding snack..

Saffron died today. I can't breathe.

rest in peace my dearest cat.

yeah, and also embarrassing that it took me so long to realize that it could be my own program causing the trouble.
7281
nice!!!
love it.

I'm pretty sure now that the problem was, embarrassingly, caused by an older version of my own program, Multi Photo Quotes.  Installing the latest version seemed to solve it.

She got amazingly far -- a huge accomplishment.
I feel whenever someone i know participates in something like this is, the real accomplishment is simply putting yourself out there and taking a chance.  Not an easy thing to do. Surely that's a real victory.
Bravo to her.

Website Watcher has always been my favorite.  It is a desktop app designed primarily for interactive use though.  For simply emailing you when a website changes yuo might have good luck with one of the online services.  But Website Watcher is worth a try as it is one of those really great tools.  There are some discussions of this kind of software on the forum:

I mentioned the act to my sister's family (with whom i am staying this week); they all remembered it instantly and loved it -- we will be watching and voting tonight.

I had a kit like this when i was a kid, but it was much less forgiving, was much more difficult to tear down, and required much more manual dexterity.
Today I want to recommend a kit I got for my 10yr old niece that manages to capture the same spirit, but is much more forgiving and easy to use.

The kit is part of a series called "Snap Circuit": http://www.snapcircuits.net/

The one I got my niece was focused on alternative energy.
Their top-of-the-line general purpose kit is like $90, but they have starter kits for as low as $25.

I highly recommend these for young kids who you want to introduce to the fun of making stuff.

There are more advanced kinds of electronics construction kits for older kids who might want more of a challenge, like this one, which uses wires: http://www.amazon.co...Center/dp/B0035XSZDI

But the Snap Circuits I am posting about have the advantage of being very resistant to breakage and much easier to connect according to instructions, so they are better for younger hands.

Hi folks.. I'm having a strange problem that I can't track down.

Recently my computer's volume has been jumping to 100% spontaneously.
I set it to some minimal volume, and then at some point (usually overnight) everything is super loud and i check it and the volume is back at 100%.

I'm thinking it must be some program doing it, but i can't figure out what.  Another alternative is a stuck key, but the random timing makes me think not.

Any ideas?

Thanks for posting about that.. it does seem like it would be a natural next step for someone to make a gui tool that uses this commandline utility.

Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app)
« Last post by mouser on August 25, 2014, 08:33 AM »
That is just awesome to hear.  I think martin really summed it up well in his review:
"Recommendation
If you want a lightweight program that provides you with excellent forecasts and all the information you can possibly want, then sWeather is the first of this list that you should take for a test ride.
While it may be too bare bones for some, it makes up for that with low memory usage and being portable."

Weather app's can get really elaborate (and often beautiful), but many of us are interested in something lightweight, clean, efficient, ELEGANT, and free of ads, and sWeather just rocks for that.

Congratulations, skwire

if you want to delete all, exit CHS, then delete the Database\ subdirectory in the CHS configuration directory (users/documents/donationcoder/ClipboardHelpAndSpell/Database or something like that).

not an option i'm afraid -- it's more like an internal database index # that will never decrease.
