but I set it to enable vibration sound mode when I arrive work, and enable normal sound mode when I leave work

but it cannot accept it!

it changes both entries, so that they are both the same!

what is going on really?

anyone can help me with this please?

ok, I decided to give llama another chance

I was at work and I clicked to "learn the area"

it asked me how long I will be in that area, I clicked 4 hours

now what?

I guess you skipped all the help?

Never fear: Use Llama To Automate Your Android Phone With Location Profiles & More

yes, I skipped all the help, a successful software doesn't force you to read pages of help, it guides you with its helpful and clever interface!

anyway, after reading llama help, I don't feel much richer and I still think that it's a fairly bad way to set location triggers, because at work, when I go to a building I have never been before, llama will identify this as if I have left work!

no I haven't told Llama to learn the area
I want to just specify geographically a point and then a specific radius and have it automatically find the cell towers or do whatever it wants in order to "learn" the area
isn't it sensible what I am asking? is it possible to do it?

and I have switched from llama to tasker, can I do in tasker? if not, I can switch back to llama, no problem

I have to be physically present in that location.
But again, while physical present in that location, I can find the current CELL ID I am connected.
But I want the action to be triggered in the surrounding CELL IDs! Under a specific radius!

When you're in the area you instruct Llama to Learn the towers in the area within a specific time frame.  There's no need to add towers one by one, any that Llama sees while in that position will be added as an area identifier.

Llama picks up 16 towers servicing my immediate area, over the space of 2 hours without me moving from my study.

Considering some of these towers are up to ~20km away from me, that's a rather large area - exactly how big an area are you wanting it to trigger on?

definately not 20km, I want it to be in a 200m radius!

You're talking about Captive Portalsw.

Hotspot Login

Automaticaly log into Captive Portals (Wifi Hotspots with a login form). The solution is configurable and not specific for one Hotspot. Currently there is only one configuration for German T-Mobile Hotspots as that is what the author has tested it on. If you make a new configuration, let him know! See the website for explanation of configuration terms.

Website (Sourceforge)

JoTo is this "Google Geofences technology" different than GPS or CELL IDs?
is it more accurate than these? is it less power consuming than these?

thank you all, but all you missed the exact meaning of my question
including you Ath, no it isn't the same question

or otherwise, I haven't understood well how these similar programs function

I know how to set in these programs a GPS location and then set a radius to which an action will be triggered.
As for CELL IDs, there is a problem, because I cannot search in a map and assign an area there.
I have to be physically present in that location.
But again, while physical present in that location, I can find the current CELL ID I am connected.
But I want the action to be triggered in the surrounding CELL IDs! Under a specific radius!
how can I find all the cell ids within a specific radius? and assign a trigger to them?

hello!

I want to do stuff (like activate wifi, etc) when I enter/leave specific locations

so far, there are two methods to do that, one with CELL ID and the other with GPS

GPS seems to be more accurate but it's resources consuming

is there a way I can select a CELL ID and select a radius to define an area?

thanks!

hello!

what is the limitation of today's GPS technology and we can't position someone/something within let's say a meter accuracy?

what are the bottleneck(s)?

thanks!

btw, can you kill Google Maps navigation (not just Google Maps showing a map) with Tasker?
and is Tasker for free or paid?

I had some headaches getting Tasker to actually close stuff. As far as I can tell, an outright close doesn't work. But if you can find it, many apps have a built-in way of requesting that they close.

For example, I found that with Waze, the way to get it to close is by sending an action "Eliran_Close_Intent" to Package "com.waze" targeting "Broadcast Receiver".

omg, how am I supposed to find that?

So you think that the problem resides to the fact that llama cannot correctly identify the area?

Because, I think it resides to that llama cannot kill the Maps application. That's because I click 'test actions' and it doesn't kill the navigation.

But anyway, I will follow your instructions, thanks!

EDIT: Each time it says 'XXXXXXXX number: not added to any area' in the log, that number is each time different! Do I need to add all of each to my Home area?

This is the event I have set:

Condition:
Enter Area: Home

Actions:
Kill Application: Maps, Waze

In the log, it says many times: 'Not added to any areas.'
Not sure what that means.
And that line is being generated in the log every 30 seconds!

By the way, I open the navigation and I click 'test actions' and it doesn't kill the navigation app!

Also, I would like to say 'repeat' and Google Maps to repeat the last navigation instruction it said! is it possible? because sometimes I don't remember what it said!

it seems that Google Maps does not suggest me the shortest (in time) way, but it navigates me via the way I followed few times in the past! it seems it identified that this way is the preferred and it doesn't change it to the shortest way! is there a way to fix this? I want to always navigate via the shortest in time way!

by the way, I set it to kill (without root privileges) the Maps application when I am in the area of Home or Work, and it didn't kill the Google maps navigation when I approached Home or Work! any hint?

Living Room / Re: Android shortcuts
« Last post by kalos on October 28, 2014, 05:05 PM »
For the first one, yes.

There's a widget called "Directions" which you can just put on your "desktop" and it will have you configure it to set the destination and navigation type (car, public transportation, biking, or walking).

For the second one... Sounds like your MobileVOIP app would need a widget to support that. Or if it could hook into your device so that calls made were intercepted and the MobileVOIP app was made as the default app (I used GrooVeIP which did this). Then you could just use a Contact widget to call the contact and let the MobileVOIP app intercept/override it and go from there.

Thanks!

Hello!

I want with a single click, to open Google maps and navigate from my location to a specific location

I want with a single click to open MobileVOIP app, wait to login and call a specific number

Are these possible?

Thanks!

Also, in my experience, you usually don't need to fill any form. You just need to click a "continue" or "I agree" button. It's annoying losing your credentials every hour and needing to open the browser and press the button again, especially if you don't realize you've been disconnected (e.g., using a WiFi tablet (no option for 3G/LTE)).

that's exactly what I am saying

also, in some wifi's you need to enter full login info (username/password) and click submit

So kalos needs a form filler I guess, forgetting it has nothing to do with phone but the browser?

not sure if a simple form filler will do that, because after you connect to such wifi, the login website doesnt open automatically, you only get a prompt
