Ctrl+PgUp / +PgDn doesn't work

oops! it's Ctrl+Up / Ctrl+Down, sorry!

Again, thank you very much for this software

thanks taffit.
I am going to be adding launched aliases to launch history.

However here are two tricks while you wait:
  • You can just Ctrl+Up / Ctrl+Down to scroll through recent searches, which DOES include launched aliases.
  • You can type "historys" to show these past searches in a list and click the one to trigger (or filter further by typing more).

Developer's Corner / The Subtle Magic Behind Why the Bootstrap 3 Grid Works
« Last post by mouser on September 09, 2014, 06:20 PM »
I think this will be useful for web design people interested in getting content to lay out properly. It uses the Bootstrap 3 grid system:

Things like CSS grids should remain behind the curtain. No one really needs to know how it works, or why. Until you have a broken design or something complex and you can’t figure out why your spacing, margins, paddings etc are all messed up. It can be a real pain, especially when you are generating content dynamically in some sort of interface that changes and shifts.

I’ve seen a number of people confused or irritated at how the bootstrap grid works. I’ve explained it a bunch of times, and it always makes sense afterwards. So I’d like to quickly and visually explain why the Bootstrap grid works, not necessarily how. Let’s check out this one weird trick about how Bootstrap does its magic.

...This is why the Bootstrap 3 grid works. It’s really clever and provides an awesome solution most of us don’t realize is taking place. After many, many years of using grid frameworks, this is the most elegant solution I’ve used so far.

100 days is too long to do anything.. exhausting just to think about it.
BUT, we could have a 30-day long celebration in March of 2015.

JXS -- i've sent you a message so we can test offline.

Might be helpful to categorize ideas into two kinds, both of which would be suitable for our 10th anniversary:
  • Ideas that celebrate and are directed at existing DC members -- this would be more of an insider celebration.
  • Ideas that are meant to reach out to new people who are not part of DC.
7237
One idea that I think would be neat is if we could find a way to get some of the old timers who have meant so much to the site over the years who haven't posted in years to at least come by and make one post and say hello.  I'm thinking of people like Nudone and Skrommel and the like.

March 2015 will represent the 10th Anniversary of DonationCoder.com.

I'd like help coming up with ways to celebrate the anniversary.

I think we should try to think of fun, funny, unusual ideas, that match the spirit of the site.

I don't want ideas that have a flavor of "look how much we've accomplished" or "yay for us" -- I'm thinking more in the spirit of let's have some fun and celebrate the fact that we are still alive.

How strange!
It certainly does seem like the problem where font size is not set to 100%.
Might you have some other setting on windows that is enlarging the display font or otherwise changing it?

What version of windows are you using?

Hi beethoven,

You seem to have found a bug where that setting is not saved.  I will fix.

I've had an issue with my main computer and LaunchBar Commander that I can't reproduce on a virtual machine -- where the launchbar is not visible on startup, and i've had to use the secret ctrl+alt+shift+L hotkey to bring up the options and have it redock.
Anyone else experience this?

This is a really good reminder about the kind of mental time distortion that occurs when you are at a point that you want to release/publish something or pull the trigger on some purchase or event.

I've been there many times, where you get to the point where you are ready to pull the trigger, but then you realize you need to check with someone about something -- and waiting for their reply feels like it is taking forever and it takes all your willpower to hold off pulling the trigger even for 24 hours..  Worse yet, your mind starts playing tricks with you and you become convinced that you know what the other person will say (a feeling that strangely seems to disappear immediately after the purchase/publication).

The lesson is to chill out and wait.  If you've been working on something for 2 years, you can wait a while longer and figure out a way to get into contact with the person.  Don't let your anxiousness to pull the trigger get the best of you.

Post New Requests Here / Re: Seemingly simple media player request
« Last post by mouser on September 09, 2014, 09:24 AM »
There are video players that have playlists and that handle stills (so that would handle most of what you want).
I expect the difficulty you might have is finding one that will let you pause for a specific time on the stills.

Another alternative would be to have someone make a simple tool that could send commands to a separate video player, and thus queue up the stills and videos and tell the video player to play them.
This would have the advantage of letting you have a nice playlist on one screen while the video player ran full screen on another monitor, and being able to set times for the image stills, etc.
A tricky part of coding that would be finding a video player that could report when a video was done playing, etc..

I can definitely see the value of a tool like you are requesting.
You might be able to do what you want using a presentation tool (Powerpoint?).

The other alternative is to actually combine the movies and stills into one new video, using one of the free "movie maker" tools; that would give you a final avi/mpg file to just play as one big movie.

The good thing that should come out of all of this is that developers should run, not walk, to CommonMark -- and abandon Markdown as rapidly as possible.
