That is a nice idea, putting it on my todo list.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Question about "Add note" to right-click CHS tray menu

And don't forget you can also use the quick search box at the top to filter the clips you want and then drag and drop them into a different group.

In fact you've given me a good great idea to make a new item in the right-click grid menu to help you to make a new VIRTUAL FOLDER group with just the searched for clips -- i think that will help people use the virtual folder idea.  Working on that now..

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Question about "Add note" to right-click CHS tray menu

The Add Note feature is something that has always been in CHS, it's just normally triggered with a hotkey (see hotkey tab).
It's a way to quickly add a hand written note to the database to the group of your choice.
So you're not meant to use the clipboard at all in such a case.

I think this has come up before, and I have been considering adding it.  It would be a non-trivial amount of work so i'm trying to figure out if it would be something that would be really useful to more than a handful of users.
The idea is for an optional tiny window (much smaller than the main window) which could be made-semi transparent and dragged around and resized on screen and would stay on top of other program windows.
It would show clips (only their excerpts, similar to what quick paste menu does) from a single group, and would server one and only one purpose: to let you double click an item to paste it into the last active window.

So essentially it is a hybrid of the quick paste (or group-specific popup) menu and the full window, and offers no features that the main window doesn't offer; the only benefit is that it would be much smaller than the normal window and could be left on top of the screen while you are working on something to allow you to quickly double-click a clip to paste it into the main window.

I'd like to hear from folks who think this would be useful or not..

The ftp feature of beyond compare and the ability to compare local and ftp servers, is wonderful.

v2.25.04 Beta - October 5, 2014
  • [Feature] Hotkey to display main window (Ctrl+Alt+W by default) now toggles display of main window.
  • [Feature] You can now right-click on a clip in the quick-paste-menu item to show the "more actions" menu for that clip (instead of having to hold shift and left-click).
  • [Feature] Attempt to make CHS smarter about moving to last row in view (should only happen now when the newly added item is visible); currently experimental -- can be disabled on Tweaks tab.
  • [Feature] Added "Add note" to right-click CHS tray menu.
  • [Feature] Quick toggle of inline/live spelling of memos with button on memo toolbar.
  • [Feature] Group ID# now shown in Edit Group box.
  • [Feature] New clip grid menu items for creating new groups based on selection (moves clips) or search (creates a virtual group).
  • [Feature] Group tree drop target is now highlighting while dragging over it.
  • [Feature] Quick search/filter now provides a drop-down of favorite searches; set favorites in the Misc. Options 2 tab.
  • [Feature] Added icons to group/tree right-click context menu.
  • [Feature] Better statusbar info about selected group; reports total # clips in view and # selected.
  • [BugFix] Experimental fix to improve directory existence checks for network folders.
  • [BugFix] Fixed bug interacting with some other programs (e.g. TinySpell).
  • [BugFix] Right/Shift-clicking on quick-paste menu could sometimes trigger right-click context menu of the application under the cursor.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Export to single .txt files (adding date-time)
« Last post by mouser on October 04, 2014, 04:37 PM »
I went to add it but then had second thoughts.. I'm wondering if a better solution might be a standalone tool that would parse a CSV file and create separate text files from it.. Would be a more general solution that could solve your needs but be more configurable and general pupose..
7110
You just might end up identifying the cause to the item 2. Letter "v" is output on a Paste that I mentioned above.

i suspect so.  if you'd like to try the new beta, email me ([email protected]) and i'll send you a link.
7111
Working with leopoldus over email we seem to have fixed the problem -- at least on initial testing.  Now we wait to see if it holds up...
7112
As for visualizing a room or multiple rooms, i would *highly* recommend HomeDesigner; i didn't see anything about counter tops not being in suite version -- that would surprise me.  i suggest you look into that.

Using SketchUp was painful, but was the best tool i could find for sketching a single item with unique details (like a bed).
7113
However the question is, what exactly happens

Hopefully that is a question we will be able to partly answer as we experiment with fixes.
If I had to guess, my guess is that TinySpell is performing some action between the multiple steps that CHS performs as it tries to paste into the target application.
CHS has to switch the focus to the target app, wait for the target app to get focus, then send some keystrokes that involve pretending that the Control key is pressed.  It could be that Tiny Spell is intruding into this and interrupting one of the actions.
Based on your described behavior, it sounds like maybe its doing something to the keystate to cancel the keyboard ControlKey-Down state.

That's just a guess though.  Adding a small delay between steps might tell us a lot more, or might solve the problem completely.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Sort by date
« Last post by mouser on October 03, 2014, 11:43 AM »
Thanks for reminding me -- i started adding it but then didn't finish -- i'll try to get to it this weekend.
7115
Following up on Iain's observations, one of the thing I could add to help narrow down the problem is an option user-defined delay between some of the paste actions that happen during a paste (simulating keypresses, etc.).  That might help identify the problem.
7116
That's an interesting discovery, and the first time i've heard of it.
The fact that it happens with CHS but not some other clipboard tools, and that it doesn't occur if you paste with mouse suggests that it's something related to the way CHS simulates the press of Control+V in the target application..
Can you email me ([email protected]) so that I might send you some test versions to try?

Also, can you walk me through exactly how you are selecting and trying to paste clips using the keyboard?  Are you using Ctrl+Alt+Q hotkey to bring up the quick paste menu and then selecting with the enter key? Or with a specific # key? does it make a difference?
7117
Oops!
I left in a debug message when the capture wasn't found to be solid -- i think thatt must be causing the problems.
Can you try to redownload again and see if i've fixed the bugs?
7118
Zaine!! Always great to see you, buddy :beerchug:

Great.
Thank you for your patience!

Am I likely to need to do the same with Screenshot Captor? It messed around the same at first but has been quieter for the last day or so.
it seems likely, but it might be worth leaving it as it and seeing if it behaves.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Presets not saved - CHS
« Last post by mouser on October 02, 2014, 02:02 PM »
ah my mistake.  so just edit ConfigDir.ini no need to rename it.
7122
So, one of the things in the new version is, it will (unless the option is disabled), check each newly captured image to see if it is all one solid color, and if so, it will display an error and suggest that the user may have a security program blocking Screenshot Captor from capturing images.

This was added because of the recent trend of security apps blocking screenshot taking without telling the user what is going on.  The check for a solid color capture seems to take place fast enough that it's not noticeable (milliseconds), so it shouldn't be a concern (though it can be disabled from options).

Screenshot Captor / Re: Thumbnail Panel shows Screenshots in chronological order
« Last post by mouser on October 02, 2014, 11:23 AM »
You should not try saving in the C:\Program Files (x86)\.. directory or any subdirectories, unless you are still on Windows XP.
Instead, you need to save in a place where programs are allowed to save (like in your MyDocuments area).
Windows does weird things with virtual directories if you try to save where you aren't supposed to, and that could definitely be causing the problem.

6 hours ago is fine -- my last upload was 24 hours ago.

The most recent changes were:
  • [Feature] When SC encounters an image file of a different format than the extension indicates, it is still loaded but a warning is shown.
  • [Feature] When SC encounters an error loading an image file, it reports the error and clears the current image selection.
  • [Feature] Select-region capture can now be performed in additional ways; you can use enter key to start and end capture regions (space bar resets initial position; cursor keys nudge; C toggles cursor; Z toggles zoom); quick single mouse click can also now mark start and end positions instead of holding and dragging.
  • [Feature] By default SC now checks if a capture is all white or all black, and reports the probable cause (interference from a Security App); see Tweaks option tab to turn this off.
  • [BugFix] If using post-capture dialog after captures, and "stay hidden" option is chosen, main window was sometimes restoring if it was showing before capture was initiated.
  • [BugFix] Nudging selection with arrow keys in region-select mode had an annoying delay/stutter.
