Please download today's updates (jan 4, 2015) -- i found a bug that would cause changes not to be saved if you use the explicit Exit menu item (rather than just using the back or home button to leave application).

Ok let's see..

First, CHS stores all images that it captures from the clipboard as normal files in a special directory.
When you open up the CHS window and view an image clip, you see the image and a special toolbar above the image with command buttons that are specific to images:
Screenshot - 1_3_2015 , 3_15_35 PM.png

One of those buttons will open a graphic editor on the image.  Another will open the folder of images so you can browse, manage, etc.

If you click the edit button, the image will be opened in your image editor and any settings will be saved to the file -- and when CHS copies this image to the clipboard it will use your modified file.

So that's the general information.  To answer your questions more directly: Screenshot Captor is still not perfectly ideal for editing random files, but you can configure it (or any other graphic editor) to be the program that CHS uses when you ask to edit an image; you'll find that setting on the "Image Capture" tab of CHS.

One more tip: CHS does not update a clip image preview automatically after you edit it -- youll have to switch away from the clip and come back to see any changes you made to the image file while the clip was still being shown in CHS.  That's something i'll try to fix soon.

Just played with the new features -- worked great.  This is a very specialized app but it works a charm when you need it

Hotrod Panel

I wrote the framework for WhenLast so I could reuse it for other projects.. Here's another small app that let's you create custom imaginary control panels for your android-based car screen:

Or make some imaginary nuclear reactor controls for the nearby plant and scare your friends into thinking you've hacked in :)

N.A.N.Y. 2015 / NANY 2015 Mugs designs?
« Last post by mouser on January 02, 2015, 10:00 AM »
Do we have an alternative design available again, this year? The kick-off post didn't get conclusive about that, I'm afraid

there was some preliminary mockups of a new design on this thread: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=39202.0
but nothing final.

If someone can polish something off for use in the next week or so we can offer it as an alternative design.. otherwise we will go with the standard.

N.A.N.Y. 2015 / NANY 2015 - New Apps for the New Year Roundup
« Last post by mouser on January 02, 2015, 08:11 AM »
Since 2007 we have held an annual event that we call NANY (New Apps for the New Year), where we ask the coders who hang out on DonationCoder to create some new piece of free software and share it with the world on January 1st of the new year (browse previous year entries here).

NANY is really the funnest thing we do on this site, and it's one of the few times we can all play together.  There are no winners or losers, it's simply a celebration of programming and creating new software and sharing it with the world.  You can target any operating system (desktop or mobile) or even make a web-based tool.  It can be a game, utility, large application, whatever. Best of all, everyone who participates gets a free commemorative coffee mug.

Congratulations to everyone who has participated in NANY this year. I hope everyone had fun!  On behalf of everyone on the site, I thank you for helping us kick off the new year. Please show some appreciation to those who participated by sending the participantsa small donation.

You can see the list of entries here: https://www.donationcoder.com/nany2015

You can still hide it, you just do it differently now.  Go to the section editor, and you can hide any sections you want.

Note: You can toggle whether hidden items are shown from the preferences, so make sure that is also not set to show hidden items.

You can choose the algorithm that screenshot captor uses to smooth images when it enlarges or shrinks, so that may yield a more pleasant result.  Just remember that no matter what it looks like while zoomed, the actual image in screenshot captor is always stored as an exact copy of what was captured -- we are only talking about the temporary display when zoomed.

Very impressive.

Screenshot Captor always captures exactly what you see on screen. It sounds like its just zoomed out (or in).
On the top right you can set the zoom to 100% which will be exactly what you saw on screen.

New beta has been uploaded, would appreciate any reports; see download link in first post.

I think your old data should be read in, but im not 100% sure.
I have also removed the Delete All Data menu item; to clear all data you can go to your Android Settings, choose APPS, then choose WhenLast and then Delete All Data from there.

The new beta includes a Section Editor in the menu, where you can rename and reorder sections.

Thanks for the comments folks.

Some quick replies:
  • Edit+Now buttons -- Rightnow i am using long click to do drag&drop; i could use a long click on Now button to edit, but that has a drawback of being non-generalizable when i add other kinds of "entries" that don't have "now" buttons.. so for right now i think the edit buttons are my best solution.  One possible thing i could do is make the user have to switch into a general "EDIT" mode before those buttons appear..
  • WhenLast in title area -- not sure what you mean -- isn't it in the title area?
  • Show "days since" mode -- yes i want to add that.
  • Reminders for tasks -- on my todo list.
  • Reordering categories -- will be in future version.
  • Bug with categories overlapping others -- let me know if that's not fixed in next version.

Just installed this in bedroom:

Screenshot - 12_28_2014 , 5_06_28 PM.png
http://www.amazon.co...ontrol/dp/B0017O71MI

"Lutron MIR-LFQTHW-WH Maestro IR 300-watt Single Pole Fan and Light Control Kit"

I had a ceiling fan in bedroom, with the following issues:
  • 1) The rotary push-turn dimmer was annoying to use and dimmed poorly.
  • 2) To change the speed of the fan you had to reach up high and pull a chain and it was hard to tell what speed it was running at, etc.
  • 3) You couldn't run fan with light off -- this was the most annoying thing, not to be able to run fan at night, without using chains to manually turn off lights while leaving wall switch on.
  • 4) If you want to read in bed you have to get up and walk to light switch when you are ready to turn off lights.

This devices provides:
  • A permanent wall outlet switch that looks elegant and a separate standalone remote.
  • Dimming is nice and smooth even for LED bulbs.
  • Independent control of fan and lights.
  • Can save preset favorite light and fan dim levels -- useful because i have some very bright LEDs that can be too much when on full.
  • Remote works from across the room/bed.

A pain to install but works well.

So I'm adding some default items to be present on initial run.. I'd love some suggestions for items to add.
For each item I just need a label and a section name.

Anyone?

ps. I've uploaded a new beta for anyone who wants to check it out (same url).

"When a homeless man in Brazil had an epileptic seizure, his dog Spike wasn't about to let him out of his sight. When the ambulance carrying the man headed to the emergency room, Spike chased after it. Eventually, the paramedics stopped to let Spike aboard. The loyal canine was also allowed to accompany his friend inside the emergency room as he recovered."

Wow that is odd and i must agree it's hard to read.
It looks like it's having a hard time adapting to system font settings -- i may try to make a quick new build and see if I can get it to behave better.
