General Software Discussion / Can you recommend Selkie Rescue Data Recovery??
« Last post by Curt on September 26, 2007, 08:43 AM »
Even with a 51% Bits du Jour discount Selkie Rescue Data Recovery is still $49 (normal: $99), so because my budget is tight  I am bound to ask  if any of you guys and dolls can recommend this program? I have never heard of it before today, and it is hard for me to understand any of how it works. Do you know?

Edit: It turns out they have an okay demo video (8MB wmv), telling how it works

... an old dive in new york

I had to look up "dive" to understand the context:

dive
n. plunge, submersion; dubious nightclub, sleazy nightclub
-Babylon
- so what was mouser doing in a sleazy nightclub?  :tellme:
  :D  :P

i saw debbie harry perform unplanned in an old dive in new york once where we just happen to be when she showed up.
Such rare moments are precious to remember.

I owe to tell that I was a fan of Blondie before I ever had seen any pictures of Debbie Harry.  ;)
Edit: I think Sunday Girl and Picture This were my two first favourites of their.
- or is it: ""their favourites of mine", or something quite different?

Edit2: Deborah Harry, July 2007:

- so, sri, did you try it?

I did, but I was so disappointed with the lack of tooltips on the Aston desktop, that I logged off, and went back to XP's Explorer right away. But at least that is how easy it is to swift forth and back.

One way or another this was indeed a very interesting trivia, app103!

Edit: Wiki tells Eat To The Beat recently was re-launched with the video included:
>> The album (Eat To The Beat) was digitally remastered and reissued by EMI-Capitol in the year 2001, with four bonus tracks. The 2001 remaster was again reissued in 2007 (June 26 - U.S.; July 2 - U.K.) without the four bonus tracks. Included instead was a DVD for the video album. This was the first time the Eat To The Beat video album was available in the DVD format. <<

To me the band and Debbie Harry are synomymous (I suppose I should feel bad for the rest of the band!).

That was exactly why they broke up...   ;)

But I am glad they re-united; they even made it to some important Hall Of Fame!
- so I guess the band members now are happy about it too...

tinjaw showed a screenshot featuring the cover of "Blondie". Blondie without the band is Deborah Harry, well, Blondie is Debbie Harry. When I was a young man she was soooo hot and was hitting with Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl, Denise, One Way or Another, Rapture, Call Me, Hangin' On The Telephone, and more. I liked a lot of their music - and I still play these tracks regularly - but I was primary a fan of Blondie, Debbie Harry, and secondary of Blondie, the band. This is how the babe was looking 1979-1981:

Blondie re-hitted around the millenium and are still quite famous, but you can read all about it at blondie.netwikipedia, and allmusic.com

Today Deborah Harry is 62 of age (Edit: born July 1, 1945, Miami), but still going strong:

A musical version of Madonna's 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan is set for London's West End.

The stage show will incorporate several hits by New York new wave act Blondie, as well as an original song penned by the band's lead singer, Debbie Harry.

"The story just works with the lyrics," said Harry, 62:

I saw this released at Deviantart.com. I'm not sure why the guy put X's on the tabs, as they don't actually function. I noticed a few people were confused about that.

The toolbar is Styler, not the toolbar available in QT TabBar.

As far as I could understand (or not), this Leopard takes that you have WindowBlinds.

« Last post by Curt on September 19, 2007, 04:27 PM »
I can only remember a few hotkeys and I very often cannot remember the name of the program I want to use, when I want to use it, so all these "click, type 2 or 3 letters, and hit enter" programs are not for me.

But I can visualize where the link to the program is placed, and how it looks, so I have almost every program represented in True Launch Bar, Rocket Dock, PS Tray Factory, PS Hot Folders (and apps), and in the Maxthon toolbar. In Firefox I use Launchy. And when my PC is ztable I also have a lot of favourite apps linked in Explorer > QT TabBar.

It really is a very fast way of launching. I NEVER go to Windows' standard Start > All Programs, but I do have TidyStartMeny and VistaStartMenu installed - but as I said, I never go there.

« Last post by Curt on September 18, 2007, 04:57 PM »
The Office 2003 that I have is the Danish and modest Teacher/Student 's version, but I have not yet been able to find an offer on any Danish Office 2007 versions what so ever - Microsoft Denmark's homepage is merely saying "prices are not yet available". An English Office Ultimate at only sixty eight dollar (Office Ultimate at a tenth of the normal price!!!) would surely make me forget about localized language versions...

I envy you guys this offer!

As one would expect I was not around to read your greetings on my birthday or the day after - but Thanks a lot, guys! I truly had a wonderful day, it was sooo blessed! And all my friends said I have a wonderful family, and all of my family said I have some wonderful friends! And everything was perfect, and my colleagues lent me our café for free for the day and prepaired a full buffet with both cold and hot, also for free! (Sorry, if you don't quite understand my Danish-French-English!)

@ Loki15, maybe you should try this special Spread32 program from the FREE Floppy Office. It may serve you well - at least I have heard a lot of good words about the hole Floppy Office concept.

It's very similar in flexrename
Flexible Renamer - Another Free File Renamer

I cannot see that Flexible Renamer has been updated since May 2003 (except for addin of German UI in 2005) - is this program really to be counted among the best today?

Most of the time I will just use XP's Explorer, for the ease of it, but quite often (daily) I use Ultra Explorer - I am still somewhat impressed.

Sometimes but not often, maybe once every second week, I use the free mtExplorer, and a few times I have used the 10 (ten) dollar Power Desk 6 Pro.

Maybe once every second month I will even use SurfWare's Aaron's Explorer which I had from GiveAwayOfTheDay(Edit: $3 (THREE dollar) at Bits du Jour), but at the normal $30 I cannot recommend it in any way.

that killer video download feature doens't work for me. In ANY browser...

- strange! It is working fine in my 3 browsers. Of course you already have marked the right boxes, so I won't suggest that this could be the problem, but maybe someone else would like to know where to put the X:

Edit: Also, I recall, you have to close the Internet browser before the end of installing RealPlayer.

From your text, Ehtyar, I get the idea that you did not first install Extended Link Properties, though it is required before installing File Size Statusbar) ??

My version of this combination is working flawless.

Am I blind or is there no link to JGPaiva's awesome AHK snacks from the Software page?
Unfortunatelly, i've been quite busy, and unable to make a decent page with all my coding snacks. School is starting again now, and things are a bit confusing. I hope i'll be able to figure something out, as soon as possible.

Well, that was a year ago....

...  to say about RealPlayer as such, except that I often had it installed but never used it....

From somewhere around year 2000 I was using nothing but RealPlayer 10 Plus - and it served me well. It was only half a year ago when I discovered the bessings of DivX and flash movies that I started using everything else but RealPlayer. With RealPlayer 11 being able to play both DivX and Flash formats, I expect again soon being using RealPlayer only.

[rant] ...  I hate how all these designers are now going for that stupid idea of placing buttons/menu items in the caption of the windows!! .. i hate that idea, it's highly incompatible with gridmove...

I very often aggree with jgpaiva, but not this time. I know nothing about "gridmove", but I truly like the idea not to fill space with nothing...

My RealPlayer 11 (6.0.14.550) PLUS Beta is suffering from hiccups!
so my advice at the moment would be to wait for the final or for ever...
