Appreciate all the advice!
I will try not to get under the car unless i have a buddy around.. I'm pretty paranoid about safety things, so I won't be doing anything reckless.

I just went to add this feature and discovered it was already there  :P
See Miscellaneous Tweaks tab of options, near top -- you will see an option to invert mouse wheel.

Got it, ok I understand now.  Let me look into where the color settings are set for these things.. I'm guessing its using your system defaults in some way, but I have to see how easy it would be to change.

am i right in guessing you have a full height (width) dock?
i now strongly recommend trying the non-full mode and making a dock that doesn't span the entire length of the screen.
it's more aesthetically pleasing and solves this issue i think.
let me know.

Amazon fluctuates prices like mad -- you really need a tool like this to make sure you aren't paying too much.

I always recommend the CamelCamelCamel addon for browsers -- here's an example of how it can be used to show how good a deal the G930 price on amazon is:

ahhhhh.. now i understand!!
it's not a mouseover issue.. it's the color of the currently selected menu item..

ok so here is something to try: try changing the THEME Appearance Skin in the root Options node (Program Options 2 tab) -- see if that has any effect on this color.

Not sure what you mean when you said it didn't work -- are you saying you still see mouseover text when you hover over a node even with those settings unchecked?
Are you using a dock on the side of the screen or a pop-up or tray menu?

Could you take a screenshot to show me what's happening?

Well you should be able to disable the mouseover text.  Go to the dock node, and go to the second tab "Docking Bar 2" and disable "Hints on MouseOver" and maybe the "Use caption as hint.." one too.  Let me know if that works for you.

Hmm.. that's an interesting question..
There is currently no option for that.  Can you elaborate a little?  Is the text shown when you hover unreadable? Or just a color you don't like?
Does the color depend on the theme you have chosen in the root Options node? What theme have you selected there?
In your docking bar, what option do you have set for "Background Display"?

I would love to have such a pit -- i don't understand why all neighborhoods don't have one somewhere that people could use.

Well, if I only needed to lift one side at a time, I think I would just buy some ramps.. $50 to lift one side 6 inches is within my budget and seems safer than jack stands.
But.. my problem is that there is some work that I'd like to do which could really benefit from lots of room under the car for a prolonged period (scraping rust and then painting with rust encapsulator).. and I would not feel comfortable being under the car with the entire care raised up on 4 jack stands.

I might try to build a set of 4 wheel cribes, as described here: http://www.myturbodi...tion-to-jack-stands/

Living Room / Interested in doing my own car maintenance.. Advice?
« Last post by mouser on March 09, 2015, 11:42 AM »
As some of you may remember, I purchased my first car, the Codymobile, last year (with some help from you folks).  See the thread on it, with some photos: here.

I love the car.. It's a very low mileage car -- not driven often by the first and previous owner, and driven even less by me (2008 Suzuki SX4 AWD, with only 22k miles).

It's in good shape, but I have no idea if the previous owner did any fluid changes, etc.

I'm not a car person, but because I want to spend more time bonding with the car and because I like tinkering with things and learning how to do things, I'm thinking I may invest in some tools and do everything I can do (change oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs, coolant, transfer case oil, break fluid, etc.).

There are some great videos on youtube that show how to do most things for my car, so I can follow those for most things.

Currently I'm thinking about buying some (rhino) ramps for getting it up to work on.

Any other thoughts? Am I crazy for trying to do this stuff myself?

Cost wise, I suspect I won't save much money doing this stuff myself -- mainly because I'll be spending all of this money on tools that I will only ever use once or twice (given how infrequently I drive the car, this may be my one and only change of these fluids before i die of old age).  On the other hand I am (rightly or wrongly?) completely paranoid about mechanics not doing a proper job in changing these fluids and not using quality materials -- especially when the customer is bringing in a car that probably doesn't need these fluids replaced  :-\

I also want to take a moment here and post some links to some great DIY car maintenance books that I've read recently -- most of which are available very cheap used on amazon.com:
(side note -- two of my top 3 books are written by women)

And some great youtube video sources:

I'm running Windows 7 and it works fine when focused on the desktop.

Can someone else with Windows 8 test this?  Surely there must be some explanation for such an odd thing.

The "`" character (I don't know what it is called) is an authentic single key on the keyboard, and should not be used (even if it could be) as a single key to start an app up.

Don't knock it till you try it! That's the key I use on my laptop (which doesn't have a Pause/Break key) -- works well for me, and is in a convenient location.
