Can you try this beta and see if it fixes the zoom problem?
6402
not a bad idea; ill add it to my todo list.
btw in case it's not clear -- those hotkeys are non-editable to protect user from messing with some good defaults, but you can always disable (uncheck) a built in one and create a replacement with the same hotkey.

Get yourself a good book for beginners and let it hold your hand a bit and walk you through some manageable assignments without overwhelming you.

So just to recap -- there are now probably two different workflows for using the selected-region (shift+PrtScr) capture mode:

  • If you want a really quick and fast capture, move to first corner, press and hold mouse, drag to end corner, release.  This is how I do my captures -- and I crop from within SC if i need it more precise after that.
  • If you want to perform a very precise capture during selection, hit shift+PrtScr to begin region capture mode, then move your mouse to *approximate* first (upper left usually) corner and press and release mouse button.  Now move mouse to *approximate* bottom right corner.  Now use cursor keys to nudge entire selection (without changing its sized), holding shift to move just end corner, or alt to move just first corner.  Then hit enter to capture.

I'm assuming these html documents are your own creation, and you don't have good backups?
If they are system files, just wipe the entire computer clean and start over.

i wonder if there might be a compromise possible
let me consider the possibility of having chs interact or hand off to another tool as it pastes -- that might make it easy to do what you want and keep chs from getting over complicated.

Phil !!!
Thank you for saying hello.  I know it must be hard for some of you to break a long streak of not posting.. Must feel very strange.  Maybe even for some it feels like backsliding into online habits that were not healthy?  If that describes you, please know that this isn't about trying to drag anyone back into a past life -- just about me/us remembering people that had an impact here.

Screenshot Captor / Re: SUGGESTION: Maximum Screen Size
« Last post by mouser on March 15, 2015, 11:28 PM »
Ok so before I embark on this, can I ask if people had a choice, would they prefer to have a view mode where the thumbnail panel was broken off into a separate (maximizable) window, and everything else showed normally (same as it does if you hide the thumbnail panel now.  Or would you guys prefer if there was a mode to show the screenshot in a separate maximizable window by itself, and the normal window had the thumbnails covering the entire space where the screenshot is normally docked?

The latest beta will let you adjust the selected region with the cursor keys.  Using Shift/Alt/Ctrl and cursor keys will let you nudge the selected region end corners.
Also note that you no longer have to click and hold and drag -- you can simply position first corner then click and let go, and position second corner and click.

Nick, I cannot express to you how happy it makes me to see you post.  This may sound loopy, but to me, the cody you created has become donationcoder to me, in my mind.  And it's that little bird that I think of when I think of the site.  You breathed life into him with your illustrations and he is real to me.  And it's important to me that you know how much he means to me and to the site, and how much I appreciate the gift you gave the site in your drawings of him.  I cannot (and do not wish to) imagine the site without him, and by proxy, you.

For those not familiar with some of the amazing illustrations that nick (nudone) has done, a good site to check out is his Codex Transportica: http://www.codextransportica.com/

Screenshot Captor / Re: IE11 scrolling capture not working
« Last post by mouser on March 15, 2015, 01:13 PM »
You haven't described what doesn't work when you try to do this with Screenshot Captor, but remember, Screenshot Captor now has a very flexible MANUAL scrolling capture mode, and if you ever find that the automatic scrolling capture doesn't work in a particular case, use the manual scrolling capture mode.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: How to display special characters, like tabs ?
« Last post by mouser on March 15, 2015, 01:11 PM »
Nice idea regarding user defined replacements which might be suitable for you is that you CAN save entire formatting configurations as Presets and load them, from the Presets menu.
Note that this will affect all the settings on all tabs of the Format/Modify dialog.

A question: If you specify an absolute path for the icon, does it work in that case?

Find And Run Robot / Re: request: allow FARR searches with options open
« Last post by mouser on March 15, 2015, 01:06 PM »
I'm trying to remember if I did it for a real reason or just to avoid confusing the user.
My memory is something like this: Until you close the options, any changes you make to aliases won't have any effect.
So I probably disabled searching just to avoid the user getting confused about this behavior, and to make sure the options weren't left open on screen behind some other window..

Yeah that's an interesting idea.. So a panel that has some of the current clip properties one per row for easier viewing.

Duck thinks it is a dog.

"So I have a pet duck who is special needs. I saved Spuck from being culled as a duckling and he imprinted on me, but I go to college on the other side of the country. This was my duck’s reaction after seeing me for the first time in 4 months."

No MOBI, EPUB, DOC or TXT file support at all.
yeah that's just plain stupid.

sounds to me like the device must be more of a publicity/prototype than a real product.

Hi Sproutch!

Sorry for the delay in replying.
I like this idea.. it shares a little in common with another program of mine, The Form Letter Machine.

The main reservation I have to adding this is simply that there are some good powerful tools out there for pasting these kinds of "templates" (my form letter machine being one type, but there are others), and i just don't know if it makes sense to have CHS try to provide the full set of useful functions in this domain.  That is, if one does think this is a good idea (and i do), might it not make sense to use a program more specifically designed for this purpose?

There was a time when i envisioned CHS as serving many roles -- managing automatic clipboard history, being a note tool, being a kind of mini database, etc.. I have found that such a do-it-all approach comes with some real cost in terms of complexity, and it has made me more sympathetic to the idea of using different tools for different purposes..

It seems to me that this would be a good case where you should use the LBC button/hotkey (or indeed use another hotkey tool if you just want to trigger on hotkey) to launch the BATCH SCRIPT or SHORTCUT or other script that can launch the set of programs.
Perhaps check out: Splat by another dc member.

Splat can handle hotkeys and commandline execution.
