It's only a guess, but I'd be unsurprised by some hassle over activation.

There might be a way to dodge that.

ever tried to put a cap on your wife?

safe to say the result will probably be a negative...
You never know what might develop.

Here you go.  I used vlastimil's PhotoResize for my tests.

Nice one

PBOL / Re: Latest Progress Bars of Life - Version 1.10 - Dec 15, 2013

you can make progress bars that you can freely adjust just by clicking on them.
My progress just improved enormously. Three clicks and my most-dreaded deadlines have been met

When can I expect the complementary life-adjustment module?

You could take a look at Real-World Paint.
The author is responsive here, at DC, and otherwise.
Or, why not save a lot of trouble and keep the lens cap in place?

Good point! ...But if we're doing one flew over the cooko's nest ... Who get's elected as Full Goose Loony, Chief?

Hmmm, I don't suppose anyone on DC wants to throw their hat into the ring?   :P
Not to be too unoriginal but I've done that twice before, so this time it's a tri-corn...

I don't know what to call it to adequately communicate what it's for.  Any ideas?
suspend/resume ImageFloat? Lock/unlock current image?

Hey, that's really nice!

It's great to have on-the-fly reference material posted to the screen so easily, with the ability still to see what's happening on the desktop. I know that would have been possible previously by playing with the opacity of various windows but this way is so much better.

Now... how do you plan on enhancing CH+S?  ;)

I happen to really like NZ and hope, at the very least, to visit it someday. I pray it doesn't get completely mucked up before I do.[/i]

as curious bystander, i was wondering what router/modem are you using, do you mind sharing the brand/model? :)
Not at all, it's a D-Link DIR-615.

Thanks Deozaan and 40hz.

I had flushed the cache and tried the Google DNS settings, with which I prefer not to stay for obvious reasons.
Now I've switched to OpenDNS. Of course, at the moment everything is out to lunch as my ISP is having weather-related problems.
My site did seem to come up reasonably quickly, though, so I'll get back on it when things smooth out again to the point where more testing makes sense. By then I'll have a chance of reaching my ISP's support people by phone.

Boy, I've flushed so often that I'll be the poster boy for hygiene!   ;)

Thanks for everyone's participation, much appreciated!

I had another idea that might help narrow it down a little, what happens if you use an online HTTP proxy to load the site?

eg. kproxy

Just tried it. It's still slow but it's not broken UK newspaper loads much faster. Right now everything here is slow, unfortunately (especially me) we had some snow and that is so surprising here, in Canada, that everything's gone into panic mode. Just like Christmas, always sneaks up and takes one unawares.

This is what I see:
Is that right?
Yes. Click on one of the images and it should tile up to a bunch of other stuff.
I just clicked on Birds-1 and Birds-2. After a loooooong wait Birds-2 opened and a click inside that produced a severely broken format.

Networks are a closed book to me — heck, I have trouble even reading the title on the cover.

I have three facts here that I think state my problem. After testing under WIndows 7 and 8.1, and with a plethora of browsers, the three statements resolve to these:
  • On my own desk-top computers I can load any site except my own.
  • The same is true on my Android tablet (entirely different o/s).
  • Other people can load my site just fine.

What happens when I try to load my own site from the web is interminable load times, and 'not available' content, and badly-formed layouts.

A few more details
  • The site is hosted by a small-ish, fairly local ISP. My previous site there had no problems.
  • My feed comes through a satellite modem and thence to a router.
  • tracert info for the site is poor, but not as poor as that for other sites that load just fine.
  • I put up a minimal, unfinished site to play with at barbarabickell.ca

I've been banging my head against a wall trying to understand why the site doesn't work properly for me (from the web) but does work for just about everybody else. If nothing else, it makes revisions tricky as I've no way of knowing their real-world effects. Whenever I have what I think is an 'aha moment' a review of the three statements rules it out.

I'd welcome any insights that might help to resolve the problem.

You are right, Clipsync is useful. It saves me from a lot of typing on tiny keyboards.

And very nice, too!

Thank you fro enhancing a long-time favorite!

Can anyone think of any other music video of any kind, where people were lip syncing the song but in a context where the words had no relation to the activity they were engaged in, like this video does?
Can't think of another video but my wife and I have conversations very much in this manner... almost every day!

You're not surprised, you say?

648
Yeah... I plan to add some sort of setting for that next :)

Excellent!

FWIW, also works fine on W8.1 32- & 64-bit versions here.

649
That's nice!

Works fine here on W7-64 SP 1.

Re opacity, it would be handy if there could be a toggle (double-click?) between transparent and opaque.

Just when I began to wonder if CH+S could get any better... it did! Works very nicely.

I must say that the options panels in CH+S (and others of mouser's programs seem to be growing more difficult to navigate). The demo movies help with that, fortunately.
