I tried it five minutes ago, and it works well.

Only found 8 keys, though, so I removed it at once.

Edit: 8 keys including XP and IE

« Last post by Curt on December 21, 2007, 09:30 AM »
First I must point out that I have never paid anything close to the listed prices for any of my Ashampoo programs. Secondly, I really don't think of PhotoCommander as a media player. I merely meant it is better as a media player than as an organizer. Thirdly, I don't need anyone or anything to "organize" my PC. What are they implying? I know where my stuff is placed. Fourthly and last, I am certain J. Rivers is among the best media players, but I don't want it; I use the new Winamp. But thanks for the hint.

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: DivX Author rebate coupon needed
« Last post by Curt on December 21, 2007, 02:04 AM »
TMPGenc is $90, though, and $55 to upgrade. Anyway, I only wanted DivX Author because of, well, because of the divx format, didn't I, but that is also the reason I wouldn't pay the normal full price. There are planty of authoring tools, some even for free, but without the latest divx format - they seem to always use some older divx version.

Thank you, lanux. I will have to visit their forum, and, wow, what a thought: maybe even read the manual!, and just maybe then I can figure out why I was recommended this program...

Why on earth was I to purchase this program?  :tellme:

 :tellme:

... you CAN convert from within PhotoPlus, in the file menu, there an EXPORT selection, that is the place that allows you convert to other formats.

Thank you, Cuffy!
- now this program gives a lot more meaning to me  :)

Edit:
But while we are at it: Does anyone think it "important" to upgrade to the new X2 ??
6233
Does it really say it is supported? Strange, because my XN View 1.92 Beta 4 cannot read the one *.spp* image that I have.

sorry about the pps / pss thing...  :-[

Edited : oh, you actually did not mention .spp as supported

General Software Discussion / Any image viewers that can read .SPP? (Serif PhotoPlus)
« Last post by Curt on December 20, 2007, 10:31 AM »
Some time ago I was convinced by some enthusiasts that it would be a good idea to purchase Serif Photo Plus 11, so I did. Now I cannot figure out  WHY , because I have not yet come across any viewer or editor that can actually handle the extension .spp. So I ask "you": Are there any (other) picture viewers (or editors) that can read (or maybe even edit) the .SPP format? Why on earth was I to purchase this program?
 :tellme:

Edited for some 'minor' typos...  :-[

Besides, as many other viewers  PhotoPlus 11 cannot display CMYK (jpg) properly:

There is also this kind of special  file manager: SurF (freeware).

Humpf.  Needs .NET Framework.

Yes, you are right; it needs a modern computer.

Why I didn't test my Microsoft Office 2003 Picture Manager much sooner   I don't know,  but of course it displays the picture just fine:

Found this on ColourAtlas:

When to use the RGB atlas and when the CMYK atlas?

Due to the fourth colour the CMYK atlas offers many more nuances, but its application only makes sense if the software and hardware being used support the CMYK colour model.

'Software only capable of RGB' and 'Software capable of both RGB and CMYK'
(click thumb):

In general only software that is customarily used in the preprint stage is CMYK capable. An overwhelming majority of programs only support RGB colours.

.. I just did a trial of PhotoCommander 5 and hated it. It says it can help organize photos but I didn't see any organization tools in there...
... Be warned, though; they also have some programs hardly worth the rebated price... so download and test!

You are right. PhotoCommander is some kind of a descent media player (!), but an organizer it never was, not for real. There are a lot of Ashampoo  programs that I would not recommend, but some are really fine   at least considering the cost.

There is also this kind of special  file manager: SurF (freeware). I will strongly recommend to study the thorough "Documentation" page (I can add no links because of frames). I didn't find any download link at the author's page, except for a link to sourceforge, but I also found the file at SnapFilesPro

* even at €60 I reckon that office suite (from Softmaker) is a bargain

When purchasing at Ashampoo's site   europeens must remember first to change currency from euro to US-dollar   in order to save the difference  because the price is both $60 and €60   but €60 is almost $80.

Office 2008 truly is a bargain.

« Last post by Curt on December 19, 2007, 03:01 PM »
Ashampoo seems to always be on offer, so why do I bother to tell about their latest offer? Because their rebate-offers are on old versions, and new versions are marketet at "normal" prices, but once you have purchased one of their programs at "normal" (nominel) price it is actual harder to pay the normal price than to get an rebate. So this Christmas offer (60% rebate on all) gives you a chance to purchase an okay program at an okay price and at the same time earn the "right" to be offered rebate on all their other programs in the future (emails from "Rainer Lesani"). As an example their new Office 2008 is $60, but I paid $24 - and until Christmas you too can have it at that price because of this campaign.

Be warned, though; they also have some programs hardly worth the rebated price... so download and test! All their programs have free trials.

Rebate coupon: christmas07 - to be used no later than December 24'th...

How to order:

1. Visit our website www.ashampoo.com on 24th of December 2007!

I have been using Webshots Pro/Premium for many years, and I still don't want anything else - Webshots is just the right one for me, and I really like how easy it is to add new pictures from http://www.Webshots.com's remarkable Photo Gallery or from my PC. The program is never updated, but it doesn't need to, so who cares.

- or go to http://www.programur...change-wallpaper.htm

Edit

-or to SnapFiles:
WallShuffler is a simple wallpaper changer that allows you to alternate between a selection of desktop backgrounds. The program can update your wallpaper every time you start Windows, or manually from the system tray. A feature that makes this (otherwise mediocre) application stand out, is the ability to apply various image effects to the wallpaper, without changing the original image.

- one of many, and maybe or maybe not the one for you
