Oops, will fix.
Most often that will happen if you install a beta, but I can see that I didn't change it to reflect even that last official update.

How cool is this -- a jaguar playing and swimming under water. I love when he just floats under water:

For super quick calc with tape, I use my own fcalc plugin with FARR:

Not nearly as powerful or fancy as the others, but has the benefit of being always available if you already use FARR.

Nice list

Exit Screenshot Captor if running and then just unzip new portable .zip file into your old directory, overwriting files.  You should be all set.
The portable zip does not contain a settings file so it won't overwrite your existing settings.

Nothing to be embarrassed about.  Another possibility is that if you haven't used SC in a long time, but you've been doing other things, windows may unload it from memory even if it's running in the system tray.  So in some cases this could mean that there is a slight delay between hitting the PrtScr button and having SC actually trigger the capture.  Maybe that's what happened before.
6033
Can you see if the shift key alone causes the popup message to disappear instantly, or what about prtscr key alone?
6034
The only constraint in using SC in this case seems to be in taking any screenshot of an area of the screen which contains a system pop-out window - and there were 2 such instances in this case. SC couldn't take such a clip without closing the pop-out window first, every time I tried it.

How are you triggering the capture?  Are you using Shift+PrtScr to do a selected-region capture, or just plain PrtScr to capture entire screen?  If Shift+PrtScr, are you using the normal way to select a region which shows crosshairs that go from top to bottom and left to right of screen? Or are you using RedBox mode?

The motivation for these questions:  Unless you have changed the region-capture mode to RedBox mode, SC should freeze the screen before engaging region capture mode.  One possibility for what you are seeing is that the keystrokes to engage the capture are closing the pop-up message before SC engages.

Can you do a few more experiments and see if you can figure out a few more clues?

« Last post by mouser on May 10, 2015, 03:09 PM »
A post-action report:

I had my car up on 4 jack stands this weekend and:

1. Replaced front rotors and brake pads; bedded in brakes.
2. Replaced brake fluid and bled all brakes.
3. Cycled out the power steering fluid.
4. Drained and refilled the Rear Differential gear oil and front transfer case gear oil.
5. Already changed oil previously.
6. Did first pass of draining and refilling transmission fluid (needs a few more times since only half comes out each time).
7. Replaced lug nuts.
8. Installed hitch.
9. Flushed and replaced coolant.

Tip: I was never in any danger but I did literally almost destroy my car, by draining the engine oil when i thought i had drained the transmission.  I was getting complacent and over-confident and just wasn't double checking things the way I should have been.  I sure was proud of myself for everything i had done until that put the fear of god into me.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Delete or cut and paste selected region
« Last post by mouser on May 08, 2015, 04:25 AM »
Another trick is to select the region you want to delete and choose Edit -> Select -> Invert Selection.  Then hit the "Crop" button.  This will fill the selected region with Canvas background color (default is white set in "More Interface Options" tab).

Perhaps I should add an option to "delete" the selected region and make it background canvas color or transparent (or let user select the color to fill with?)

What I could do is change the "Patch" command to show a dialog giving the user choice of filling with "transparent", a solid color, or the "smart" patch that it does now -- this would have the advantage of supporting more options for smart patching in the future..
6040
not currently possible with SC.. but i've been thinking about adding something like this -- or as a separate tool.
6041
Thanks for the heads up!
