Actually it's an excuse for keeping my pc turned on all day. My mother tends to destroy it / shut it down if it's doing nothing and i'm not on it. Surprise, surprise, i tend to use VNC a lot :-]

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Fake upload
« Last post by scancode on October 30, 2007, 07:54 PM »
I'd like a small dialogbox, to show the uploading of a file that never happens actually. It should take forever... :D

Usage should be like fakeupload.exe myfile.dat, and it should pop up a window showing 'progress'...

I hope you guys understand me.

Greetings.

Give ActiveLock a shot; it's VB6 and .NET compatible, and it's pretty cool. Opensource / Free.

Next up: Cody in Heaven.  Or, as a great philospher once said, "THIS... is an ex-parrot."  :-)

Ohhhkay, Ralf, tell your daughter she's gonna get hired to make Super Cody Bros or some similar platform game.
Keep them coming, they're really neat!

Honestly, I did that drawing. It's like my best drawing ever. I spent three hours shading the upper lip.

Then you deserve a spanking. What's the point on the IMDB link?

I guess you'd need to see the movie to know.

Napoleon Dynamite: I spent like three hours doing shading the upper lip. It's probably the best drawing I've ever done.

Trisha: Yeah... it's really... neat.

I guess my imagination will work up the rest :-]

Deozaan: Too cute!  She captured the likeness of Cody perfectly.

Submitted for your appreciation, our first junior entry.  Drawn by 7-year-old Audrey Maximus.

Aaaaaaaaah! How cute! :-]

Edit: Is Cody holding an almost-fully-erased coin? Or i'm just too caffeinated? [If he IS holding his coin, 2x cuteness]

General Software Discussion / Re: Wanted: Simple drum machine program!

^.^

Actually the thing i'm working now works using standard XM files... [FastTracker modules]... That allows for small-filesize loops and easy BPM changing... I'll try to get it finished this week :-]

That would be cool.  Here's a suggestion if you're interested, on what I think would be the perfect thing for something like this.  Most sample cd's use wav files (or can easily be converted to wav files).  If you can make something that can use these wav files, that would be great.  Here's my vision:
Have maybe 6 buttons on the program (intro, main loop1, fill1, main loop2, fill2, ending).  For each button, the user would assign a wav file to it (it would be easy because drum loop sample cd's are already organized like this and they are loop-ready, meaning if you play the file in a repeated cycle you won't notice any breaks).  Then, have another button somewhere where you can change the bpm.  That would be the perfect program.  You can assign keyboard letters for each button to make it easier and control it from there.

By the way, this is how my old yamaha keyboard was back in the day, and it was a really easy way to get drum accompaniment.

There's a little problem, audio stretching/shrinking is a bit too advanced for my skills :-[
XMs are like MIDIs, i mean, you can change tempo, because it records INSTRUCTIONS, not AUDIO DATA....
Let's see what it ends up like :-]

I can make you one. What kind of patterns do you want?

That would be nifty!  As to kind, you mean just stuff like rock type drum patterns?  Also, a key feature would be the ability to set the BPM and change it easily.
Ok, i'll try. I'll keep you updated.

You don't have to thank me, I had those issues for quite a bit 'till I figured that ASP* dislikes almost-everything...

That looks like an ASPack/ASProtect error, got a lot of those when 'debugging' those apps... Maybe that app is ASP*d or you're running an ASP*d app?
This goes for bitchyness' sake. IT WAS Aspack!

My programmer personality type is: DLSC

I am a Doer.
I am very quick at getting tasks done. I believe the outcome is the most important part of a task and the faster I can reach that outcome the better. After all, time is money.

I like coding at a Low level.
I am from the old school of programming and believe that I should have an intimate relationship with the computer. I don't mind juggling registers around and spending hours getting a 5% performance increase in an algorithm.

I work best in a Solo situation.
The best way to program is by Irself. There's no communication problems, I know every part of the code allowing I to write the best programs possible.

I am a Conservative programmer.
The less code I write, the less chance there is of it containing a bug. I write short and to the point code that gets the job done efficiently.
