Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Staff rotation tool
« Last post by lanux128 on August 23, 2006, 09:43 PM »
i'm looking for a tool that will allow me to schedule volunteers for a task, which is quite mundane, therefore needs orderly rotation to avoid any *unpleasantries*... ;)

this is what it needs to do:
1. from a pre-defined list, assign one person a day for 5 days of the week. (Mon-Fri)
2. if the person is not available, then skip to the next person, the rest moving up a notch automatically.
3. allow members to change their assigned day among themselves.
4. take into account any holidays (also pre-defined) and blank-out that particular date.
5. able to schedule for a month ahead, if possible.
6. if the list can be printed or even output to a text file, then even better.

basically that's it. i have tried out several scheduling/calendar programs but this feature is not be seen. i have also tried several Excel templates recommended to me but they are not as interactive as i'd like them to be.. so, i'm hoping to find a solution here among the DC community. don't worry, there's definitely some DC credits in it.

ArcSoft Panorama Maker

this is quite good, i got mine via a freebie cd with the purchase of my Canon scanner. ArcSoft also have a sister-app that can be useful for documents. It's called Scan-n-Stitch.

Salamander doesn't even get called up for me, even though I set salamander, I still get explorer when using "explore here" in the context menu for example...
aah, another salamander user... 8) that is also exactly what happens to me.
here's hoping that mouser will look into this very soon...

glad that you've worked it out, kproth..
the real genius is skrommel, who has written fantastic programs that were non-existent previously and some donation credits for him would be nice... ;)

old fashioned folder nodes:
if you create a COMMAND node (not folder contents), but instead of specifying a command, specify a folder.
(you can hold control key and click on folder button to browse for folder)...
ok, i get it.. see the attached pics...

i happen to be trying-out this app when i encountered a long forgotten error -> RichEdit line insertion.

pw-error-scrnshot.png

whenever i started PopUp Wisdom, the above error message would appear, then the program will crash.

maybe Skrommel can add multi-monitor support for WinWarden and solve this problem...

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Symantec anti-virus auto-updater
« Last post by lanux128 on August 18, 2006, 02:56 AM »
i'd like to adapt this script for AVG Free updates as well but needless to say, i was not successful...

this is because the download link is fused with javascript like this,
<a href="hxxp://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/update/u7avi792qj.bin" onclick="return fc_click('dwn_u7avi792qj.bin','download')">u7avi792qj.bin</a>

so D+R tries to download this file: u7avi792qj.bin onclick=return fc_click('dwn_u7avi792qj.bin','download') and returns an error. therefore, i was hoping that you'd might be able to amend this script to get it working with AVG.. ;)

Podcast Radio Show / Re: W T F happened with the music in podcast #4?
« Last post by lanux128 on August 18, 2006, 02:22 AM »
i've just finished listening to podcast #4 and a big thumbs-up for everyone who was involved.. just like nudone said, zridling was so convincing that i had to visit XYplorer's website to find out myself...

btw, imho, audio levels can fine-tuned even more.. i'd like to suggest MP3Gain to JavaJones and Mukestar for this purpose.
other than that congrats to everyone.
maybe in the near future, i'll be able to muster enough courage to speak into the mike and contribute to a podcast... ;)

« Last post by lanux128 on August 17, 2006, 08:23 PM »
That is for sound card selection, not the recording inputs of one sound card... so not what I want.
hmm..maybe it's time for Autohotkey... ;)

anyway, here are some command-line options for the volume control applet. maybe brotherS can modify his AHK script to work on this one. just a thought...
SndVol32.exe [-R | -D n | -T]

-R
Starts the application in record mode.
-D n
    Specifies a device identifier.
-T
Single volume, as double-clicked on tray

i've also read about how plentiful these terrestrial bodies are and what would happen if one of them struck the Earth, in Bill Bryson's superbly written A Short History of Nearly Everything.
