... I have the wirekeys tool, ..., and never done much more than trawling the help file for a few tweaks (like the file open/save dialog improvement plug in).

This statement about WireKeys made me think of all the times I have felt certain that I knew which program offered which feature, only later to realize I was wrong and it was some other program, and I often concluded that the false memory must have been caused by how seldom I use most of my programs. I say this because there is no such WireKeys open/save-dialog plugin, that I know of.

Some months ago I took the time to set up my XP the way I want it to be - more or less. After that, I have only been fooling around to maybe find some more add-ons for my Firefox (46 by now!), or to discover new image editors, or whatever. I take great joy in downloading the various programs I am being offered each day via Freeware World Team.dk, but your post reminded me that I have a lot of programs, hundreds, that I have only tried once! And that was when they were installed. Install & Forget, can unfortunately have this meaning as well!!

Yes, I should have stressed out that I didn't had Firefox as my default browser. I didn't want it in Start. But now I have it placed in Start, and I don't use the Preloader anymore, because I've found two old add-ons doing an even better job:

- MinimizeToTray 0.0.1.2006102615+
   {31513E58-F253-47ad-86DB-D5F21E905429}
   http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/
   Firefox 1.0 - 2.0.0.*
Minimizes Mozilla windows into the system tray
- Minimize To Tray Enhancer 0.7.5.3
   {de1b245c-de57-11da-ba2d-0050c2490048}
   http://codefisher.or...ize_to_tray_enhancer
   Firefox 1.5 - 2.0.0.*
Adds extra things to Minimize To Tray.

Because of these two useful extras, I now have Firefox as my default browser again. In Start.
- I hope Firefox 3 will have some similar features.

Okay - the box is showing up when I perform the search from your site.
So I guess it has to do with me normally being redirected to Google.dk, then?
- because I cannot get the box to show up when I search the "normal" way.

Today CyberNet Technology News told about a new Google feature, a 'search site' box:

There may be times when you’re trying to find a page on a specific website but can’t find it for one reason or another. Thankfully there’s Google to help you search within a website so that you can easily find the page you’re looking for. Google has three different options available and each one is very simple to use but will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

   1. Look for the Search Box
This is the newest method available when you perform a search at Google.com.  Google found that for certain websites, there are many visitors who usually end up wanting a refined search.  One example is Microsoft. People may search Google for Microsoft and then once they click through to Microsoft’s site, they perform another search for what they’re looking for within the site. Now when you do a search for Microsoft at Google, you’ll see a search box right after the result where you can enter a term and search within Microsoft.com. A screenshot of this can be seen below:

google-search-1.png

When the result appears with a search box (remember, not all results will show the search box), you can enter in another search term (like Windows Vista) and Google will search only Microsoft for Windows Vista related pages.

Source: Thanks for the tip Yansky!

2) ... iPhone site:cybernetnews.com ...
3) ... (Advanced Search) ...

This box is almost genius, I think, because I could never remember what to type (iPhone site:cybernetnews.com) when I needed to perform such a search. But my problem is that I have not been able to get this search box to appear. I have a lot of addons and so on, so maybe they somehow are blocking it? Or more likely this feature is not yet available outside of USA? I will guess the last option. So I thought I would ask you guys to check if you can see such a box if you search Google for e.g. Microsoft Corporation, please?

I have just proved that I am like that. After 18 months of membershib I never found the childboard  to our Found Deals and Discounts thread for members, until someone directed me today! Embarrasing it is, but true.

Well, as I said:

I will like to thank you all for the gentle way you speak about me. All these posts about me, but not even once did you spell out my name. This is why I just love to hang out at DC. You are so tender - Thank You, guys!  :-*

Can the DC structure maybe be even better organized?  Hmm...  :-\

But Thanks!

- allthough I am not too sure I will take any advantage of the offer. Do you know this feeling: The program is clearly very capable, but somehow something is not right - maybe it is the GUI layout?? Hmm... somehow I just don't fancy AnVir Task Manager. Or maybe it has to do with the company offering you a free program if you post their press material on a popular site!

I am not aware that we have a rebate offer on any AnVir product, so I guess the removed link was to somewhere else? (a PM is welcome!) Anyway, more important today may be that this giveaway comes with a 25% dicount code (GAOTD25) to any other AnVir product. However, IIRC they do not specify if the code is for today only, but most likely it is.

I hope 'someone' will answer Jim's questions about today's The Bat!'s handling of Unicode, genuine HTML, and MAPI, because when I tried The Bat! a couple of years ago I merely thought it was some silly crap, because of the lack of these international must-haves.

I was using Outlook 2003 for four years and was very happy with it. When I recieved this unstable XP machine, Office 2003 was one of the things I had to say goodbye to. So I tried out Thunderbird. At first I was a little disappointed, but after scanning the addons site, I have managed to set up the finest email client I can think of - especially ThunderBrowse is impressive! Of course you may know of something even better, but I don't. Thunderbird with these addons meets most of my wishes, I am merely missing two or three features from my Outlook 2003 - which of course also had a lot of addons.

... it's those stray clicks that really mess them up. I don't know how my grandma does it, but she gets her task bar docked to the side or top of the screen, gets her display turned sideways (for monitors that can rotate), gets her resolution changed... All kinds of things that seem impossible for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

This is so true! I believe it is one of those flaws that is so 'cute' about the women we love; they really like to click! Clicking all the time all over the place - click, click, click. My dearest friend comes twice a week to use my unstable PC to check her hotmail and facebook accounts, giving both of us a challenge. Mine is to stay a gentleman, and hers is to let go of the mouse and wait for the chosen feature to respond and for the page to load. Only, she can never wait that long. Over and over she will start clicking here and there and everywhere, always making the problem a lot worse. What is it about a woman and a mouse? I mean, I am an IT-analphabetic, but even I have learned to let go of that mouse, but, these women? No: click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click - "hey, Curt, why wont this machine do anything?", she says. Yes, I too installed version 6.0 too early and had some problems at first. In fact, the problems were so big that I removed Outpost for some months and tested various others, including no firewall at all..., but finally everything came to order. I consider today's 6.0 (2008) superior to 2, 3, 4 and 5 in many ways - yes, I have been using Outpost for several years - but still I am eagerly waiting for Blockpost to be incorporated, as they have promised to do this summer. I really mean that I have no problems at all with NOD32 3.0 and Outpost 6.0 working together. Further more, I am running ThreatFire at the same time.

@ taichimaster - Yes, it is sad that so many people don't take the time and effort to set up their security programs the proper way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the cooperation between my NOD32 3.0 and my Outpost Pro 6.0 - Outpost is doing all it is supposed to do.

d00d, u not 1337!

I thank you for assuring me that I am not merely a number, esp. this number...

1337
1337

Definition number 3 (3415 thumbs up, 1337 thumbs down) :

 n. 1. Nestled between 1336 and 1338, 1337 is commonly known as a number, or for the more advanced; an "integer"

2. Often misused to satisfy a lamen's ego, the self-proclaimed 1337 will misuse the title, pretending to hold Xtr3m H4x0r capabilties while in fact masturbating to preteen beastiality at 2:00 AM with baggy eyes; anonymously hassling n00b's with better things to do than kill their babies over mindrot such as Everquest and Warcraft. See also "colon debris" and "queefstain"

- but I guess the short version is that they were not really saying anything...  ;)
