i'm not an expert on this but would something like "Drop My Rights" help?

DropMyRights is a very simple application to help users who must run as an administrator run applications in a much-safer context—that of a non-administrator. It does this by taking the current user’s token, removing various privileges and SIDs from the token, and then using that token to start another process, such as Internet Explorer or Outlook. This tool works just as well with Mozilla’s Firefox, Eudora, or Lotus Notes e-mail.

mouser,

how about making the toolbar buttons configurable? if it's too troublesome then i'd like to request for an additional button for this menu item: "Create New Image File from Clipboard Image".

plus, also the ability to add separators for "External Tools" menu. ;)

BrotherS, from your guide here. i tried to configure Miranda for two servers. however, i ended up with the below error. (fig. 1) i've also attached my config window, if it can help you. so, any advise?

Dont know if it is true but I read somewhere that Microsoft had planned to put in outbound control but usertests showed majority can not handle this feature, or dont want to bother with setting up rules for access, looking at pop-up warnings etc. They end up clicking randomly or better disable. Make sense to me even if not true.

you make a point there, dk70. even in ZA, i would just disable the pop-ups, instead of looking at each & every one of the warnings. the novelty quickly wears off after reading the 1st few of them. in any case, imo the program also should be able to analyse out-going data & detect any anomalies, instead of bombarding me with messages. but that level of AI seems a long way off.. ;)

Windows Firewall only offers inbound protection and is very good at that.
i didn't know that. thanks for the info, AdIyhc.

tks also Mizraim, for vote of confidence.. ;)

after seeing some of the problems, 3rd party firewalls introduce after an upgrade. i was wondering what's wrong with using XP's built-in firewall? currently, it is disabled because i have ZoneAlarm. but i'm thinking of ditching ZA for plain vanilla Windows Firewall.

so, what do you think, is it worth trying out XP's firewall?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Retain keywords after losing focus
« Last post by lanux128 on October 04, 2006, 07:51 PM »
This was annying me too, until I discovered the "Always maintain focus" setting
i tried this option too but there's always a rogue window that forces itself into your face at the most inopportune times. >:(

in other words you want the break key to behave as if you had just click on the farr window titlebar in this case right?
yes, mouser. that's exactly what i want.

Find And Run Robot / Retain keywords after losing focus
« Last post by lanux128 on October 03, 2006, 10:25 PM »
mouser,
i have this problem that i hope i can make you understand. i call up farr and type something. then suddenly another window pops up stealing focus. to get back to farr, i would press the Pause key. so what happens now is instead continuing the earlier search, farr shows up with the default window. how do i avoid this?

btw, i tried alt+tabbing to get back to farr but it wasn't visible.

Screenshot Captor / Set maximum zoom size.
« Last post by lanux128 on October 03, 2006, 10:02 PM »
mouser,
i was wondering if there can be maximum zoom size, i.e. 400%, instead of the current 1000%. this is because sometimes i inadvertently use mouse scroll on the zoom bar & it blows up the image, conjuring not a pretty sight. ;)

Do you know if it's possible to have it such that when a .txt file is selected, it is automatically shown in the 'Text editor' as opposed to having to drag and drop it there?
i'm not sure about that but there is a toolbar button for opening the selected in text editor. plus a "Ctrl+Alt+T" shortcut.

Also, the program's homepage says that dual panes are possible in A43, but I can't see how.
Click on "FM Extra". whew, that was a easy one. ;)

I installed TC but immediately deleted it as it was v. ugly.
hehehe.. there was some discussion about TC here.
