General Software Discussion / Remote desktop, session reconnection & timeouts
« Last post by Mark0 on December 02, 2005, 07:30 PM »
I ask because I'm not experienced at all with this kind of things (or in general with all things concerned with managing a Windows server).
I have a virtual private server / host to witch I can connect trough Remote Desktop.
Before the latest round of installed patches & reconfiguration (done by the hosting company), I was used to connect trough RDP, open some programs (for example, a BitTorrent client), then disconnect (without logging off), and reconnect maybe 10 minutes or 4 hours later and find again the desktop exactly as I had leaved it.

Now, instead, if I reconnect within a couple of minutes, all OK; if I leave some more time passing, I found that I was "logged off", and so my programs where closed with it. It then proceed to a new login.

Not knowing too much, I suppose there are some timeout settings involved, that somewhat have been changed.
I Googled a bit but haven't yet found something useful. Anyone can point me in the right direction / have some hints on where to look?

Thanks,
Bye!

Mark Russinovich of Sysinternals will be joining the legal team led by New York attorney Scott Kamber, who filed a lawsuit earlier this month against Sony BMG and First4Internet, the British company that produced the anti-piracy software. (This may be nothing, but First4Internet's Web site is looking rather Spartan at the moment.)

Russinovich said he opted to join the suit because he "wanted to make sure that a message was sent loud and clear to Sony and hopefully to the rest of the industry. And if a technical expert is required to back up the suit, then that’s what I’m willing to do to make sure that message gets driven home."

AFAIK, the next version of the library deals also with scripting and interpreted language construction.

Daniel Corbier is doing an experimental and interesting kind of giveaway for his library.
You get a full license for free if you reach a goal = amount of points, that you can get in various ways - basically spreading the word about the tool.

Aside for the deal, if your are developing something that may be in need of an advanced math parser, be sure to give a look at it.

Here's the link: http://www.ucalc.com...athparser/index.html

It seems that there's some problem in the way the PayPal userid / email address is encoded, or something like that, because following the "$" link lead to this PayPal's page:

Uhm... don't seems different from what one do with StatCounter, NedStat, etc., isn't it?
Knowing what users do / where they go on your website is essential to make it better.

The only problem at the moment is that it seems very slow; but that it's usual for Google when a big service is launched. I suppose they need to tuneup their cluster, and see how better distribute their gazillions CPUs! :D :D

Unfortunately, it's down at the moment! :( My hoster have screwed up something regarding ASP.NET, and it's some hours now.
Later I will install the TrIDEngine in some other server.

Another vote here for the Pixma 7xx serie.
I have a 750 at home, and the Fax version at work.
They works flawlessy, and are very economic on the consumable side.

Previously I had a good old HP OfficeJet 1150c. It worked perfectly for about 9 years, so I really cannot say any bad about it's quality, but HP is gone really off the mark with the Ink price to be even taken in consideration, IMHO.
