General Software Discussion / Re: Wanted Photo Slideshow on DVD (1000s of photos)
« Last post by lanux128 on November 27, 2006, 08:54 PM »
i think that's what these type of programs do, they convert JPGs into still MPGs then make movie out of it..

i'm using Nero Vision Express and in NVE's help file, there is a mention of a technical restrictions. perhaps this restriction applies to other photo vcd/dvd slideshow makers & cause you to run out of space?

F.Y.I. You only can add a maximum of 99 pictures to a slide show due to technical restrictions!
Create an additional slide show if you intend to add more than 99 pictures!

General Software Discussion / Re: Does anyone know a good scheduling program?
« Last post by lanux128 on November 26, 2006, 07:18 PM »
Yeah, I need a program that can run on windows 98, to schedule my staff. It has to be flexible enough to schedule split shifts and keep track of individual hours.

Dell[a], i had made a similar request here but unfortunately there were no takers.. :(
do let me know if you find something..

well, he did admit that he got carried away a little.. :)

In the process I got a little carried away and ended up throwing in support for every kind of archive format I possibly could find.

btw, i just realized, one of the tools used (PEiD) is partly developed by Jibz.

P.S. i'm liking this tool more & more..

i am "thankfull" too, mouser that i found this site.. :)

i am glad that you are able to concentrate on your 1st love - writing programs, rather selling out to the corporate world right after school. that's something i can associate with, doing what we enjoy but unfortunately when i finished school, it was a different time with few opportunities (read:dial-ups, yuck!) and slowly, other responsibilities creeped in.

anyway, i am truly happy for you & would like to wish you all the best!

thesteve: your script works fine!

but being on the look-out for a gui tool, i was wondering is it possible to:
• have a tiny window that supports drag-n-drop.
• set the output (shortcuts) to be created in the current folder, i.e. the folder that the text file resides.
• have an exe file of this script for computers that don't have Windows Script.

also to Ruffnekk: tks for the info. will keep that in mind, in case i run into errors..

it's in plain-text file, something like a "dir /b" output.. additionally if i can specify shortcut name, then it's fine..
this is how the list looks like:
List-of-files
C:\Tools\bintext.exe
C:\Tools\checkdotnet.exe
C:\Tools\CloseAll.exe
C:\Tools\Contig.exe

this tool claims to "extract files from any type of archive, whether it's a simple zip file, an installation program, or even a Windows Installer (.msi) package." i think, it will come in handy if anyone wants to just extract files from the installers

btw, happens to be written in AutoIt and acts a front-end for a lot of other cmd-line programs. more info at the website and its forum:

spotted this on the net: WinCalendarTime.
not as feature-packed as TClock and its ilk but this is a tool that can be appreciated for its simplicity.

ah, drag+drop robot.. good idea, mouser. i all but forgot about it.. i think ddr needs more promotion, eh? anyway, i'll be needing a cmd-line *.lnk file maker first.
5696
The problem is that Supercopier deletes the normal registry entries then re-creates them into it's own key. When you uninstall Supercopier, it deletes all of the Supercopier keys from the registry, hence the commands are gone.

hi there polski8,

your observation is very interesting. may i know what registry keys are replaced? and also, can you give some more info on restoring them with the program that you mentioned..

« Last post by lanux128 on November 20, 2006, 10:08 PM »
sometimes i need to create quickly shortcuts but the right-click/drag-drop is a bit slow at times. i have a list which i would like a program to go through and create individual shortcuts for each item in the list.

so, i am wondering if there is a program that could create shortcuts (*.lnk) from a text list containing file and/or folder.. can anyone help me out?

for a quick preview, i use Irfanview which has a decent built-in media player.. or you can try Wav Player (which i don't use anymore). :)
