i haven't checked but the download may still work as vunet normally won't remove the offered downloads immediately.
Immediately??? ;D - it's November 2006
Nova still give the registration info (needed as well as the download), but the download no longer works, although the page is there.
i just checked the email containing the reg key and i noticed that the date was August 2007. which means i had downloaded well over 9 months after the original post but expecting it to be available after another year is a bit of a stretch. anyway, it's worth a try, being free & all. ;)

... but if the pdf was created using Acrobat then AFAIK we can put link like that? Any other software can do like that other that Adobe Acrobat pro?

They can? So it really is caused by the printer. That is too bad, I think, because I just wasted $30 then - only ten minutes ago I purchased novaPDF PRO, and it cannot do it, either. Hmm... there is always some more to learn. But okay, there is a long distance between the asking prices for novaPDF and Acrobat.

Edited:
Visagesoft eXpert PDF Creator cannot do it, either.

.. in MS Word, highlight some work + ctrl+k --> put in URL ...

Ohh... I am soo slow today. "Insert URL", you said. You are right; Word is actually hiding the link. This problem is caused by Word, not by the printer. As far as I (don't) know these kinds of invisible links can only be read by text editors and Internet browsers.

@Kuntau
Your problem is confusing me and I don't know what to tell you, but I just made a normal .doc in Word 2003, typed an imaginary link and X-Change Viewer is opening it without any problems. MS Word can offer you to "unlinkify" URLs, convert to plain text, but to my (lack of) understanding links can also be hidden by your clipboard, "remove formats / paste as plain text", or something. I really don't understand why it isn't working for you. Sorry.

@ Kuntau
I am not all sure in which situation it is you are having a problem with this feature - my links are clickable. Maybe it is a problem caused by the viewer you are using? I am using the free version of PDF X-Change Viewer. Or were they maybe internal links, or marked as 'hidden links'? Also, the program in which you are creating the link must support clickable linking as well. So could the problem be that you are using the "wrong" editor?

---

I have decided to keep on trying doPDF a little longer.

- yes, links are clickable:

DoPDF-link.gif

- from Danish:
"The program is trying to launch the homepage Http-and-so-on-pdf.exe. Do you trust this homepage?"

doPDF is now version 6.1 and is still lightweight and fast. One strange feature is that there are no settings to do, except for favourite folder. The only contact is when you have to choose if you want to keep the suggested filename (and fav folder), otherwise you cannot get in contact with this program. After the creation of a PDF the program will automatically send the file to your viewer, which is why I am removing doPDF again. I cannot accept this feature to be the only option.

Another thing to name is that doPDF does not try to hide that it 'merely' is an advert for novaPDF:

do-NOVA-pdf.gif

do-NOVA-pdf2.gif

But doPDF is gratis, fast, and with fine print quality.

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox 3 Released
« Last post by Curt on July 04, 2008, 07:29 PM »
- yes, that would be necessary, because if installed the normal way, 3 will update 2

I just tried this and ran FF3 for less than half an hour, before I removed it again. I was annoyed that too many addons were deactivated, more than half of them, but I tried it long enough to realize that I am looking very much forward to install it again, when it is ready for me.

I would very much like to velcome you at DonationCoder - the forum for software connoisseurs. However, I must first state that I find your ideas lacking wisdom. Very much, indeed. The truth is that your attitude is the very same attitude that brought Denmark to be the first country in the world to legalize porn, "let us allow booze for the youngsters, then they will get accustomed to alcohol and don't abuse it when (if) they grow up and get a driver's license". But the truth is also that most Danes have learned their lesson since then, and now regrets this foolish law. And so they will again if youngsters were allowed to drink.

My point is that I understand your opinion on this, but life has taught me and millions of other people that it is lack of wisdom. It is like shooting your kid in the foot. Nothing less!

General Software Discussion / Re: In need of a "system startup manager"
« Last post by Curt on July 03, 2008, 03:44 PM »
Delay and delay might not always be the same... I mean, you could just create a much longer delay. I have a little crowd starting without any delay, and the rest are delayed for several minutes (in fact up to ten minutes!) with the first of them being delayed for more than two minutes, to make sure antivirus etcetera all have ended their updates.

I use r2 Startup Delayer.

Hi vinc64, ... It's alway GREAT to see developers on these boards discussing their programs.

- yes, I agree.

I like this LookDisk, but I cannot help thinking the author somehow may feel trapped between the customers and Iconico, and that he must be terrible busy! Though I really meant that word I said: "Promising", I also meant the words that followed: "- but for now, I think $30 is too much." Yes, I am still running XP, so I could use this program of his, now, but I am almost certain that my next PC will be a Vista, so guess if I am going to purchase a program that does not support Vista? No, Sir!

.. I just received the Iconico newsletter announcing this
We're happy to announce the release of LookDisk.

I received this letter from the author:

Hi Curt,

Glad that you like LookDisk (I'm the author).
...
As for Vista support, unfortunately it's not a straightforward port from XP so that might take a longer...

Regards,
Vincenzo

Promising - but for now, I think $30 is too much.

I don't think we should confuse the author with our wishes for this and for that, while he is totally busy making his program Vistable! Only then I might accept Iconico's asking price!

Fuzzy Duck Explorer Plus !??   :huh:

I am not at all sure what this is, but I guess it is some kind of a file manager. But first a warning if you are going to try your luck on this: The all new 1.4 seems to be the last of it's kind, because the also all new 1.5 beta is using a different kind of settings and will not accept version 1.4's. 1.5 takes a complete removal of 1.4 and you will need to do the personal settings again.

Fuzzy Duck Explorer Plus is replacing the standard version, Fuzzy Duck Explorer (no "plus"). You can get the last standard version (with no user admin features) here (direct link!). Standard will be updated as I update Plus, but the main development branch is now Plus.

What is Fuzzy Duck Explorer Plus (FDE+) ?

FDE+ is a free web based file manager.
The project grew out of the frustration I felt from not being able to find a free File Manager, written in ASP that did everything I wanted and looked good!! (I think this looks ok ;))

It features:

    * File/Folder Management
          o Create New Files/Folders
          o Copy Files/Folders
          o Move Files/Folders
          o Delete Files/Folders
          o Download Files
          o Upload Files
          o Edit Files
    * Search Feature
    * Sortable Details View (click the column headings)
    * Tile View
    * Full Graphical Interface
    * Easy Install
    * Database Driven user management.
    * Can create users (with md5 password encryption) and user folders.
          o Create Read only users
          o Create Admin users
          o Create user folder
          o Assign user disk quotas
    * Users are then only able to access their user area.
    * If you want to easily have more than one user this is how!!
    * Banned folders list
    * Banned extensions list

So lets start from the beginning, Installation.

If you just upload the Explorer folder to your website, it should just work.

You must have read write access for iis guest user on the whole explorer folder.

A tip from Eyal Zarchi, add the apps location to your trusted sites!!

But there are a few settings you can tweak in the default.asp file.

    .databasePath = server.mappath("./db/login.mdb")
    .loginLog = false
    .idleLogout = 5
    .showHiddenItems = false
    .bannedFolders = "folder1|folder2"
    .bannedFiles = "mp3|wmv"
    .searchPanel = true
    .newfilePanel = true
    .newfolderPanel = true
    .viewChangerPanel = true
    .uploadPanel = 3
    .buttons = true
    .dateFormat = "ddmmyyyy"
    .uploadProgressBar = true
    .guestLink = true
    .useUploadDLL = "" 'tabsupload
    .openLinkIn = "same" 'same , new , both
    .root=""'Custom root for the site

    * databasePath is the physical path to the login database.
    * loginLog, set this to true to log every user login. You need to download the database to see this info.
    * idleLogout is the time in minutes that a user who is logged in can stay idle before being logged out. root is the root folder. As mentioned above this can be set to the same as the username maybe to access a network folder. (.username returns the name of the logged in user).
    * showHiddenItems determines if you can see hidden folders (true) or not (false).
    * bannedFolders is a list of folders you wish to be hidden, separated with |.
    * bannedFiles is a list of file extensions you wish to be banned from upload, separated with |.
    * searchPanel if set to true will display the search box.
    * newfilePanel if set to true will display the new file box.
    * newfolderPanel if set to true will display the new folder box.
    * viewChangerPanel if set to true will display the button to change the view between detail and tile views.
    * uploadPanel if set to more than 0 will display that number of upload boxes.
    * buttons if set to true will display the home, help, upload and view buttons (best to leave this set to true!!).
    * dateFormat sets how dates will be displayed to the user ddmmyyyy , mdyyyy , yyyymmdd
    * uploadProgressBar turns on the upload progress bar. You must have a folder in the explorer root called tmp and it must have write access. Set to false if you have problems uploading.
    * guestLink. If you have set up guest access a "Guest Login" link is displayed under the login box. To turn off this link set guestLink to false (guestLink = false)
    * openLinkIn. This can be set to same, new or both. Same means that all file links will open in the same window. New means they will open in a new window. Both adds a small new window icon next to the link that opens the link in a new window.
    * .useUploadDLL set to tabsupload if you have tabs upload installed

Per user folder permissions

Ok this needs a little explanation. As an admin you will see this icon next to every folder Folder Permissions Icon
Click on this and you will be taken to a list of users. Each user has a tick box in front of it and one after it.

The first tick box selects a user that will have access to the folder.
The second box selects if the user will on have read only access to the folder.
This will override any other settings made when the user was created.

A hidden file called fuzzyperm.fde is created in the folder with a list of usernames in it.
This allows you to customize areas to allow certain access to certain folders or have admin only folders etc.

File and Folder attributes.

Click on the one of the following icons and you will be taken to an attributes editor Folder Attributes File Attributes
Hidden files or folders appear faded in FDE.

These changes affect the actual files and folders so be carefully!!!

Did anyone try it, or have even heard of it, before?  :tellme:

- my IE7 will send it as a nice HTML email, not attached.

While we're at it, you may want to install http://sendpagebyemail.mozdev.org/ for Firefox
- https://addons.mozil...a/firefox/addon/2343

- this extension is totally weird. In Internet Explorer I have never have had to answer a single question, when using Send Page, except of course for naming the receiver, but I have just spend half an hour to answer all sorts of different questions in order to take sendpagebyemail into use. And in the end I must have clicked some wrong button, because the page was merely attached.  :(

However, I must say the quality of the attached html page was sublime!  :up:

However, the program is still new, so we might have a chance to influence the author...

From what I understand the problem could also be caused by your copy/paste clipboard transforming genuine HTML into some not-all-the-same code. My problem with this, using Firefox and Thunderbird, was solved by installing the Extended Copy Menu Auto Context add-on in Firefox. Of course you might need a different cure, but I uninstalled my Outlook 2003 maybe a year ago and am not sure how it was with this subject.

From my Firefox's context menu:

@ masu - I have no understanding of this subject, but is this what you're looking for?::

Kingsoft Office 2007 excludes the VBA development environment. However, if you have VBA installed, then you can use VBA to edit and run macros. You can also use an development environment like VB. If you are able to install VBA then you can use all the features of the development application.

Edited:
No, I guess it wasn't. But if the feature is in MS Office 2007, then it most likely will also be in KSO 09
5573
@ urlwolf, there is no *linux version* because it is not needed.
Kingsoft will run on both Windows and Linux.

Kingsoft Office 2007 is compatible with the mainstream operating systems, like Windows98, Windows98se, WindowsME, Windows2000 Professional/server, WindowsXP Home/Professional, Linux and Vista.

- very interesting article, indeed. I had no idea the company was this old, and established to such a degree. They must have been BIG, once, maybe they will be, again? But someone really must bang them on their heads: their is absolutely nowhere on their site where it says (in English) that I am to pay for the program. All that is said is Free, and now we find out it is $50: Hmfff!!

However, I am anxious to see their next version, KSO 09, (only next week? Wow!) and see how close it may be to MS Office 2007. Maybe I even will forget my indignity and become a customer of theirs.  :D
