I am unsure off the top of my head, but here is what I know.

if you have set up your CD to run on boot, then unfortunately it will appear at boot.

There are some settings that can be adjusted so that the dock will disappear when not hovered by, and I know there is a setting that will allow th edock to vanish upon clicking the mouse away.

Let me look  into this when I get a proper opportunity, as it is now, I am doing a dead install of Vista, 7, and Ubunutu to a new drive, and taking my time and doing it right, so unfortunately, I am in the OS stage still and have yet to re-install CircleDock.

Let me know if you are having issues getting the settings to work right, and I will expedite in your assistance  :D

Hello Panel, and welcome to the CircleDock Forums here at donationcoder.com

Your suggestion is an excellent one, and the suggestions has been moved forward to the developer.

I would also task you though, and any others that would read this.

So far a lot of the suggestions for an Icon "Hover Over Identifier", for lack of better word, has apparently been derived from other launchers (ie. Objectdock, rocketdock, etc).

Does any one have any original ideas. Something that may set Circledock aside from the normal pack?

Let us know, and  will pass these concepts along in my monthly e-mails to Mr. Wong (aka VideoInPicture)

Thanks

Apologies for my short answer earlier

Welcome to the CircleDock Forum here at donation coder.  :D

There is two possibilities, maybe three that come to mind here.

1.) there can be 2 instances of circledock running, and the placed at the corners
2.) there is CircleDock and another Circle Something launcher
3.) It is an objectdock + skin, although I have found no evidence of anyone running two circles.

You can run as many instances of CircleDock as you like , just ensure that you label the folders differently.

Again my apologies, and I hope to have not scared you off, I have been incredibly busy lately.

I hope this helps, if you require anything further, do not hesitate to ask  :D

Apologies

I have been so busy with Contracts and at the Rainmeter forum, that I am backing up quickly.

Do to this I am unable to write a complete direction set for you, but I have been working on a CircleDock Tutorial. AT this time it is incomplete, but should hold enough information for you to get where you need at this time.

there are a few caveats  :-\
1.) As I said; It is incomplete
2.) It is only in English at this time (Translations will need to come when completed)
3.) this is currently in an uncompressed PDF, so the file is a little big.

I hope to complete this tutorial soon, but for now
I hope it will assist you:  :D

The quick answer is yes.

I see apparently that there is 2 instances of CircleDock running here.

Greetings Ibrasiliovich
Welcome to the CircleDock forum here at Donationcoder.com  :D

If I am understanding correctly you wish to have CircleDock start on boot, or when your system starts?

That being the case there are a number of solutions.

In Windows XP.
Create a shortcut of the CircleDock.exe and then place that Shortcut in to the Startup file in your start menu

In Windows Vista and 7 in gets a little more complicated.

If you have Windows Vista or 7, let me know, and I will get you some details on the installation.
Unfortunately I am short on time at the moment.

If what you are requesting is something else, let me know, I am here to help  :D

I gotcha you!

You are talking about an old dial or "rotary" phone.
Are you speaking of a different function than using the scroll button on your mouse?
As you spin the scroll wheel the circle and icons will spin.

And I will also pass on you additional suggestion.

If at any point you require anything, have any questions, or comments.
I am here as often as I am able  :D

Thanks again

Greetings friend, and welcome to CircleDock forums here at Donationcoder.com

No, no you are not stupid, and yes It should be do-able at some development in the future.

This request will go into my monthly email that I send to the developer.

I think it to be a wonderful Idea, and am ashamed to say I didn't think of it first.

Excellent suggestion.

Hello and welcome to the Circledock forum at Donationcoder.com

This is actually a documented issue, and I believe it to be related to the following issue I get, sometimes, when my system boots, or the first time I open CircleDock. As you have noticed a simple disappearing and reappearing of CircleDock Corrects this issue.

I have passed this issue on to Mr. Wong the code designer, and I would presume a fix is underway.  :D

Circle Dock / Re: why can't run nfsmw & pes6
« Last post by sgtevmckay on May 28, 2009, 11:56 AM »
This being the case

It is an issue I can not iron out.
There has been at least one other forum member that had a similar issue, and it surrounds game launches.
I tried to replicate the issue and never received the same problem, therefore it is and issue that I can not give a correction for.

I am attempting to re-address this issue in the tutorial I have been working (Weeks) on, and have yet to re-create or address the issue properly.

I wonder if it is not some weird Windows indexing or UAC restriction error. I have had no problem launching games, but I have been doing system tweaks, and purposeful damage to replicate what these folks have been finding; but to no avail.  :-[

I will keep on the issue, though.

Buenos Dias and welcome Amigo to Donationcoder.com and CircleDock's little corner of it  :D

My apologies for my Espanol being so bad, and my inability to get the letter accents in place.

Your English is just fine.

And the concepts presented are great  ;)

I must admit that these request will have to go straight to the programmer, VideInPicture.
Unfortunately he has been away, but I believe he will return.
Last word from Mr. Wong (aka.VideoInPicture, aka. VIP) is that he is working on a revamp of CircleDock, and hopefully at thta time it will be more interoperable with our needs.

I Thank you for your suggestions, and we welcome any firther input you may have.

Thanks and again welcome

Circle Dock / Re: VIP MIA?
« Last post by sgtevmckay on May 20, 2009, 11:41 AM »
Although a bit of floating subject here  :-\

Agreed.
Rainy's assistance has been invaluable, and the community that we have re-instituted has grown beyond my expectations. The volunteer coders that have come forward have been brilliant.  :-*
It is nice to communicate with folks from, literally, all over the world!
Be damned with the language barriers. Know that we are all doing the best we can.
Of course; poor Rainy had to deal with my whining, beyond the others that were requesting a resurrection.
Rainy has been great.
I am honored to be one of the architects of where Rainmeter is, and is headed.
I am also deeply grateful for all those that have come forward to help in any way they can.
I remember, no so long ago, thinking that there was no more than 20 of us, and that Rainmeter was going straight back to the grave, do to a lack of requests/support.
The forum has only been available for a short time, but we are about to hit 150 members real fast.
The support from the current members is great, and my thanks goes out to all that are working towards making Rainmeter #1 again.

Back to the software at hand:
I have peeked at the CircleDock code, and realize why it is still in "Alpha" form. I think that maybe even our beloved VIP may have hit a few walls, and this may also be part of the reason that we have seen nothing from him in the 5 months.

I will continue to attempt to communicate with Mr. Wong every so often ( I do not want to push), and I will continue to give my support to CircleDock as I am able (tough schedule between Rainmeter and CircleDock  8) ), and those that need assistance with CircleDock.

Believe it or not; I have yet to ever communicate with Mr. Wong. I came on-board here following his absence.
But I stayed around, worked with the software, and started reading. I also started believing in VIP's software. I found that he had found a great community to support his software.
Donationcoder.com!  :-*
I can not say enough, and I am trying to adapt as much as possible into the new Rainmeter forum. I have come across no other forum, to date, to match what has been done here at DC!
I also saw the questions that were being asked, and the other DC goers coming forward to help as they could, and for the first time. I realized all my years of IT and beta testing could go to direct use in assisting others.
So  I stayed! I stayed for the folks that believed in CircleDock. I stayed knowing, and seeing that I am making a difference. I stayed because of the support from the Donationcoder community that also supports me. I stay in the hopes of one day being able to communicate, and maybe directly assist VIP in his endeavors here.
I stay and help because it is how I can support this project which I believe in

CircleDock has an excellent following.
My deepest fear here is that VIP may be away for so long that CircleDock will lose the momentum that sites like LifeHacker, PCMag, CNet, ZDNet, and many others have created.

So Long as I am able I will do what I can to keep this project's support going, and I know that VIP will return one day. I firmly believe this, and will continue to, until I am told otherwise

And to Mouser (Whom I know gets to all posts sooner or later:

I got my cup, and I am doing a lot better; miraculously   :D
I can sing :D
I can Dance .......ooh, ooh........Oi...........!
Well maybe the dance part is still unavailable at this time, but I am getting there.  :D
Thanks to all the DC goers that have been supporting my recovery

Let's just say' I am holding my breath.

Some of VIP's final posts, list that he had personal issues to deal with.
I have been regularly forwarding email to him, but have yet to get any response.

I do not believe he has abandoned any of his projects.
I am hopeful that he will return soon.

Keep the faith, I am  :D

And welcome to the forum  :D

Thank you lanux128 for helping me pick up my slack here.

Been busy.

First off welcome to Donation coder.com, and CircleDock's little corner of it.

The placement of the virtual folders is possible, and infinitely do-able.

Mr. Wong (VideoInPicture (aka. VIP)) has already mentioned that he is looking to work this in.

Knowing the language that CircleDock is programmed in, and the fact that it uses .NET Framework 2.0 or higher, makes this very do-able.

Hopefully soon.

Living Room / Re: The entitled generation....Are they right?
« Last post by sgtevmckay on May 05, 2009, 05:25 PM »
No, sgtevmckay, while i feel that our generation is raising the next to have this sense of entitlement, I don't *think* that we necessarily share it. Turned 40 myelf a month and a half ago...  :o

I do not know;
I remember (yes more memories here), a time not so long ago, when I would here "oh, you have it so much easier than we did........blah blah blah!". I remember getting tired of hearing it.
It became a test signal in my ears, if you will.
I am certain a lot of folks have heard it, but how many tell there children this today, as opposed to yesteryear

As I understand it, this is contrary to the truth.
Today's generation most certainly does not have it easier, in fact they were born in a 24 hour world multi-tasking go go go world, not a 9 to 5. More is expected, less is given, and I constantly find examples of folks today that will not have the opportunities there parents did, or even my parents did.
This has been heavily documented in the last few years

I am not saying that, we, our generation, and possibly the one before us, are sharing, but we are learning, as is human nature. as we learn to cope with this brave new world we also seek our integration.

as has been said; when in Rome, do as the Romans do"

Of course this leads to the next inception of thought along these lines.
I find, and as I believe a study has been done, that children are now smarter(?) more worldly(?) than their parents. in the last few generations we have stopped looking to traditional areas to learn. Especially when the parents can not help, because they do not know. In this case; do the children lose faith in the prior generation?
And has this new attitude created this "Entitled Generation"?
There was a time not so long ago, when trades and some education was passed onto the children, the problem today, most parents can not comprehend what their children are doing, and possibly the worst type of mistake; the parents are going to their children to learn.
More memories here; I remember when the first digital watches came out, and the school teachers, parents, and parents friends would come to me to program them. I remember the first VCR's and Beta machines, and the adults coming to me to set them up, set the time and the timer. I learned by reading directions until it became second nature for me with technology.
I also remember looking down on these people for their inability to learn, or want to learn, I work and live with like minded adults every day.
I learned to look down on these folks and despise them. I did not learn to be proud of the work I have done until much later in life.

Some times we learn things at the expense of our morals and character.

It also raises the question; has this generation entitled themselves, because we as adults could not stop them?

Living Room / Re: The entitled generation....Are they right?
« Last post by sgtevmckay on May 05, 2009, 02:49 PM »

 Hope you can hold on to that when you get to the "ethical" side of the age divide.

I think this brings up another issue.
As I have clearly stated I am about 40, and I am aware of numerous folks around my age range the exude this "entitlement" attitude.

My set of beliefs may have also come from being raised by my Grandparents at an early age.

Either way, I guess the question becomes; where is that "age divide" today?
It seems awful blurry with a growing section of gray!

It was once said, by someone notorious that I will not mention here; "Your children will one day rule (Conquer?) you."

Have we reached that marker, and is the older generation taking on characteristics they have learned of the current generation?

Living Room / Re: The entitled generation....Are they right?
« Last post by sgtevmckay on May 04, 2009, 11:39 AM »
A couple of more thoughts here, one is relevant, one may not be, but may be part and parcel to the "current" generation, compared to generations past.

I will be 40 in June.
In my life time I have seen glorious and ugly things, our society has all manner of input to satiate appetites wondrous and gross. I have experienced both, as have most I think.
We had done this before the "internet", before the BBC, before Phone chat and party lines, we had done this to, But to what extent compared to today?
I will not tell you we wer right "then", but no one told us we were wrong!

That being said.
I remember a short time ago, before I was officially no longer hip, when there were 4 track, 8 tracks, Reel to reel, LP's, and the tape deck. I remember the days when we would record from the radio, I remember mixing music and recording for friends, I remember when I had never heard about "Copyright infringement". I remember my father recording underground real to reals and loaning them, or giving them, to friends, I remember a time when I could take my Record and record them to tape. I remember a time of high speed dubbing of tape to tape that you could purchased on a "boom box" and cut tapes for friends who had a blank handy, and copy that tape in a few minutes.

What I don't remember is the records companies and their interests complaining then; Just a few short years ago.
That is not to say that they did not, but they didn't sound off very loud.

I think it was in my generation (X ?) that we took off on the concept of recording what we want and disregarding the rest. Certain entertainment hardware made it so simple and easy, and there was no mention of Copyright infringement. There was also no apparent push from entertainment industry to have the companies that readily supplied this hardware to stop making it. I can remember electronic supplier from Koss to Nakamichi had tape to tape and media to media.

Where was the entertainment industry then, why didn't they stop it then?

I remember Beta, VHS, Laser Disc, I remember the TV commercial push that told us "now you can watch TV whenever you have the chance", I remember everyone was thrilled when HBO announced that it was "possible" to record movies and watch them later, I remember my parents recording TV series and loaning them to their friends. I remember dubbing VHS and Beta, I remember recording MTV and then from VHS to tape.

I don't remember the entertainment industry taking a stand then.
I don't remember any body getting busted for mass dubbing until the 90's.

I remember an industry that openly supported what is now called "Piracy", even advertised piracy with out calling it that. I remember an entertainment industry that supported a world of what would be become pirates, and they did so by lack of action, or by letting the various other entertainment industries advertise what you could do with your equipment; We were told we "could" or "should" record, share, trade, make it our own.
it was not until much later that we were told; hey that belongs to me and you can not do as you wish. You did not buy that to own it, you purchased borrowing rights.

I remember the first time I found out that when I bought a CD of software that it was not mine, that I was essentially renting the right to use it, and if the leaser told me to stop using it, I would have to on the spot; regardless that I paid well over $200 for the right to rent. The industry was very clear on its policy of not explaining this to the average individual.
I remember at that point that is when the various interests in the entertainment industry came forward and essentially said; hey wait you can not do that any more.
Again this is not to say that the collective entertainment industry was not doing anything, but rather there was a fundamental difference then. There was separatism in the industry, either by design or lack of action. I grew up in a society that said it was "OK" by a lack of action from the interests that didn't want this to happen. I am certain the reasons are wide and varying.
Anybody is welcome to correct me here at any time.

I remember a time when I would have thought nothing of coping a song for a friend.
I remember a time before there was the term "Internet Piracy"

I remember!

Now all that being said I would now mention the part that you may not think belongs here, but I think it plays a significant part to todays "Entitled Generation"

Again with the memory stuff:
I remember a time when if you were stuck on the side of the road; folks would stop and help. I remember a time that if I was being "bad" down the street I would be punished by the neighbor and then lord help me when I got home. I remember being in a gang, but did so within a community. I remember a world of people that would help one another when they could. I remember a world that was very much like this isolated forum. People used to slowdown and talk. I remember my parents speaking with the neighbors, I remember respect for other individuals. I remember when defensive driving was the standard.
I remember a lot of good things that I do not see today, all though I make sound somewhat Utopian, actually did exist a short while ago.

I have also seen a world where a big truck driver would pull over and help you change a flat tire a few years ago, would just as soon run you over on the side of the road today.
I have seen folks that would have stopped a child from making a really stupid mistake, not reprimand that child for fear of being sued by the parents.
I have seen children undisciplined, because the parents are afraid that the child will go to child services and have the state arrest them.
I have seen these escalate in my life time.
it is not to say that it was not always there, it is to say I have seen this scenarios grow and get out of hand.

My point.

Is the "entitled generation right"?
Yes; if only by the inaction of an industry that did not scream "Foul" earlier and try to regulate their own laws, they fought so hard to obtain.
Let's face it we didn't think we were doing anything wrong, and we were not told otherwise.
By default, and a lack of early intervention, this generation is "Right".
No body told us "No", and I still have some of the equipment that parts of the "Entertainment Industry" sold to the public from back then that would prove the industry openly supported "Piracy"

Is the entertainment industry right?
Yes; and only by laws bought and paid for.
The entertainment industry is acting like they gave us a toy, and 20 or 30 years later is returning and telling us "We want it back" or "we want control of what we gave you so many years ago"
I remember a term for this (as racial as it sounds today), we called these folks "Indian Givers" and they were despised and looked down on.

Should people be reimbursed for their hard work?
this is the only absolute correct answer.
I pay for and support those things I use, whether listed as free, donation, open source what ever you call it there is a fundamental cost to everything.
I am a firm believer that nothing is free!

I believe that the industry is wrong by their on fault.
I believe that the "entitled generation" is wrong by attitude

But if you stop for just a moment and remember it was ok then, and we passed that ok attitude on to the current generation.

and I do not subscribe to; It is never a foul until the referee say's so.
At least not in this instance.

I think that the recording industry should stop and think about all the years that they did nothing, stood by, and watched while other parts of the same industry supported the very piracy the collective industry is bitching about today.

I think that today's generation needs to learn that anything free, may have been distributed freely, but was created at the "expensive" of someones hard work and time, I think today's generation has forgotten, or didn't learn, to respect this fundamental truth.

I think the the "Entitled Generation" is not what it seems. I have seen no age limit on the Entitlement attitude.
Ultimately I seem folks of all ages that have forgotten how to respect.
Respect themselves and others.

I remember being taught/learning respect, personal space, and having to work/fight for my freedoms.
I never remember learning, or believing that I "deserved" anything I didn't work for or support.

I remember!
