... another program insisted that I should get VB6KO.dll - which I did. MAYBE it degraded the already installed VB6 version? Can this be the reason? I will try to remove it, and see what happens.

- yes, that did the trick.

However, when I extracted the uCalc container, I renamed the new folder into uCalc. I shouldn't have done so:

2. A better install would be nice... One that doesn't scream 'VB'!

... Some older system files might be there because another installed application needs them to run.

What may be missing on a fully updated XP??

Okay, I finally managed to find it.

I think it is VERY strange to operate a Vista, when coming strait from XP.

« Last post by Curt on September 28, 2008, 11:55 AM »
Any idea to how I can make this program run at each start, but with no questions asked?

My (girl)-friend is annoyed that her Vista is asking her all sorts of questions she doesn't know how to answer, and wants me to remove this frustrating User Account Control. I would expect a shortcut in Start to TweakUAC would do half the trick, but it too will create pop ups when loaded, and so we can go on, can't we. She wants to get rid of all those meaningless warnings and questions. She is on a Dell laptop. What to do, please (beside getting her down)?

The answer may have been posted somewhere else on DC, but because I don't have Vista myself (XP), I have not been paying close attention to Vista related threads, and I don't know anything about Vista or UAC myself.

I am very impressed with Everything  :up:
and I expect it will replace my BareGrep Pro demo
- but none of them are supporting Unicode!  :(

  • Now to nag the author for support of Unicode!   ;)
- he already has promised to implement it "in a future version".

The app "Multiple Image Resizer" (http://www.multipleimageresizer.net/) will easily do the scaling ...
-CWuestefeld (May 02, 2008, 04:47 PM)

I tried this one today, "MIR", Multiple Image Resizer, because I read a description of the features, and got interested. However, I must say I cannot understand why this particular Image Resizer will not tell the dimensions of the image to be resized. How can I calculate the percentage resizing of a picture, if I don't know the dimensions? Well, in fact I can imagine many situations where the lack of this obvious information, would keep me from even thinking about resizing  in the first place!

Besides, I never managed to get the program to work properly  anyway.
Tested, and removed.

My System Properties, from Leelu Soft, http://leelusoft.blo...m-properties-10.html,
This program just grabs info off oeminfo.ini, as far as I can tell.

- yes, you're right. The only purpose of this program is for you to tweak the display of your system on your PC.

My System Properties let you customize the system properties page (My Computer>Right Click>Properties>General) in a fast and simple way.

Select your logo
Enter the manufacturer information
Enter the computer model
Enter up to 8 lines of support information
Apply, and that is all.

I probably shouldn't have told about it on this particular thread.

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox Extensions: Your favorite or most useful
« Last post by Curt on September 22, 2008, 06:07 AM »
Here is the list of some of my favourite extensions:
....
Finally someone has more extensions than I do....

@ alexey_r
One extension I think you are missing, though, is Extension List Dumper ....

Extension List Dumper
http://sogame.awardspace.com/eldumper/
https://addons.mozil...S/firefox/addon/3746

This extension adds a button ("Dump list") to the Add-ons window. When this button is pressed, a new window is opened with the list of installed extensions, themes or plugins (as plain text, as HTML or as CSV).

In addition to the name, some other information can be added to the list:

    * The version number.
    * The description.
    * The homepage URL.   ;)
    * The add-on ID.
    * The application (Firefox, Thunderbird...) min and max version.
    * The add-on status (incompatible/disabled).
    * The application version and the Operating System.
    * The total number of installed add-ons.
    * The date the list has been generated.

The list can be saved, printed and copied to the clipboard.

This extension is useful to keep a list of your extensions and themes, or when reporting a bug or a conflict to an extension author,
... or when telling about your extensions, at DonationCoder's forum  8)

It does take quite some time to check out your listed extensions...

You are encouraged to donate pay $8 for this app.
I don't recall it required payment when I had it installed first time.
-fenixproductions (September 22, 2008, 03:26 AM)

- not inside the program, but on their site:

Registration/License

You're free to install this on any number of machines for any amount of time. We ask that if you find this software useful, that you register it for the low low price of $7.95. That's cheaper than seeing a movie, and we'd really appreciate it. Click the button below if you'd like to register, and thank you very much if you do.

General Software Discussion / Re: Does TweakMASTER Pro really work?
« Last post by Curt on September 21, 2008, 11:26 AM »
it will patch the tcpip system driver so it will affect any and all programs connecting to the internet.
- it is my guess / question that I will have to manually adjust settings in all the various programs that are using "number of ports allowed" - the programs in which I answered "use 10 ports" when I did their settings?

If so: sigh!!!
