You're a wonder! This sounds perfect already. I will be able to try it out later today: feedback coming up asap.

Are you stuck with SAP ERP, or do you yet have a chance to reach the escape pod?

Haha! I'm talking to a client who joust bought ECC6 and I'm wondering how easy they are going to find it calling out to a SOAP service that we provide. From the little I know, it always feels like there's quite a bit of development work required to get any sort of integration going with 3rd party utils.

A good example of me having tunnel vision when it comes to over-frequent use of acronyms.

Yes, I do mean SAP as in the SAP ERP / Business Management software thing that costs millions.

Anyone on the forum have any experience with talking to, or being called by, SAP?

I just want to get a feel for what can and cannot be done.

And this was our conversation, skwire:

That would be a big step in the right direction!
Presumably I could have several of those, each with different destination selections?
I suppose that depends on how complete/complex/open-ended this application needs to be.? I could write it such a way that it runs out of its own folder, looks for its menu config file and shows a small GUI drop zone.? You could rename the script and run as many as you like.? This way, I don't have to spend time writing a full-fledged app with all sorts of GUI configuration, etc.? Or, I could write a GUI-based app with, say, nine drop zones (basic groupboxes or whatever) on one GUI form (3x3, etc) and a simple configuration dialog for each.
Per-folder would be perfectly acceptable? Thmbsup

looks like we did lose 7 posts on the entire forum, between the time we sent the forum into administrative mode and the time we ran the backup. im still not sure exactly how that could have happened, BUT thanks to new email low tech backup solution, but i have the contents of them and will send the losts posts to the authors.

Well that ain't so bad, eh? Thanks for sorting that out.

DC Website Help and Extras / Re: why I dont receive reply email notifications?
« Last post by timns on January 27, 2011, 02:41 PM »
I misunderstood how that worked. I assumed the checkbox was either to be checked (get notifications) or un-checked (don't)

Now I see that this list is simply all the topics I have participated in, and should simply remove them using a combination of checking the box and hitting unsubscribe.

Skwire, we lost some messages on here - what were you saying? I've already forgotten, but I seem to recall it was very exciting. :-[

Ordered here too. I chose the other design, with Twiggles making a bold escape from the awful and mighty robot. Can't find the image right now of course, but you know the one I mean.

Photographic evidence of safe arrival will be forthcoming - and will everyone post some "action shots" too please?

Downloaded, ran... removed again.

Marvellous idea, but unless I can change that font, it's a no-go for me.

Hi timns, I'm one of the developers of the Autofocus application and I'd like to thank you for this hint. We've added a setting for fonts and an upgrade will be published in the following days.

Welcome to DC. Please post a thread and let me know when it's available and I'll try it again. Thanks

Tim, did you just want one "drop zone" area that would pop up a menu of destination choices?  If so, this would be a piece of cake to write in AHK.

That would be a big step in the right direction!

Presumably I could have several of those, each with different destination selections?

Looks like it's: "Endhiran",  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1305797/

timns - have you tried DropIt! ?

I'm just about to.

Good find! Thanks.

Ok, DropIt is "almost but not quite" -

* I don't want to rely just on an icon to remind me what each profile does. I'll need to be able to label it.
* I'd like to be able to have a choice of destinations pop up when I drop a file.

Like this, only not so damn twee  >:(

Couldn't you just make shortcuts to each folder and drag and drop onto them? (yes I tested this, just now :D)

Well I guess that would for a start...

Timns Apps / Auspex Tips, Tricks and Uses
« Last post by timns on January 25, 2011, 04:34 PM »
I'll keep this thing updated with any good ideas that come my way.

To start things off:

Fast, Automatic Text
Create useful Replacements for repetitive typing. Good examples would be:

Your email signatures - perhaps you have a different way of signing your messages depending whom you are addressing.

Mnemonic: rj
Replacement:
Regards,
Joe
Purpose: Very quick and smooth way to sign your emails

Mnemonic: m@e
Replacement: [email protected]
Purpose: speed up and improve the accuracy of typing your email address

Spelling Corrections

This example uses RegEx
Mnemonic: crit[e|i][c|s][e|i][s|z]e
Replacement: criticize
Purpose: Corrects all of the most common misspellings -> criticize

Tags
Mnemonic: htm*
Replacement: <html></html>
Cursor position: 6
Purpose: fast creation of HTML/XML tags

Create simple Replacements to enter those irritating special characters and symbols
For instance:

    * create a Replacement called 'gbp' to enter the £ symbol
    * create a Replacement called 'cpy' to enter the © symbol
    * create a Replacement called 'reg' to enter the ® symbol
    * create a Replacement called 'qrt' to enter the ¼ symbol

The possibilities are endless!

Nest replacements if they share the same text

For example, if several of your replacements all reference the same webpage, make a simple replacement for just the webpage itself, and then reference it in your other replacements. That way, if the webpage address ever changes, you only need to make one correction and all the references will work.

Block words that you do not want to keep seeing as suggested auto-completions

You may frequently type words that Auspex will track, but that you do not want to see popping up all the time. Set their status to Blocked and they will never show up again. For example, passwords  :)

Auspex also tries to auto-detect password fields, and also password-like typing. In both cases, the text is NOT stored anywhere.

Finished Programs / DONE: Drop target to move files to predefined folders
« Last post by timns on January 25, 2011, 04:21 PM »
I once tried out a little program (probably an old Yahoo widget) that created several target icons on my desktop. When a file was drag-dropped onto one of them, it was automatically moved to some designated folder.

Unfortunately it never worked properly on my PC for some reason, and I didn't really like the whole Yahoo widget thing after a short time.

Does anyone fancy having a go at this?

More info if it piques anyone's interest, since I know how I'd like it to work.

Also, I'd like to know if we're doing better with things like ctrl+enter, win+G, alt-something-or-other
Tested the Ctrl-Enter issue and build 91 at least fixes that (didn't get to see build 89, just saw 91 today).

I now have 2 issues, 1st that double-clicking the systray icon doesn't restore the main screen (like others reported), and 2nd, right-click/Show pops the main screen up at my secondary monitor, to the left of my main monitor, even though it was closed when on the main monitor...

Thank you, Ath. Both of those items will be fixed in the next build (so 92 or greater).

Crikey, it's taken on a mind of its own!

In which case, we may be working in some form of "compatibility" with the JP stuff. What happens is that there are several ways that Auspex tries to add the text, and it's that last trick that just tacks on the text. Do you happen to have any of those apps set up in the Application List under Options?
