It's reasons like this that I went for EIDE drives and not SATA. I want to be able to pop them in my other pc if I have to.

speaking of which, is there a IDE to SATA converter? so that i can the use the older IDE drives on newer motherboards..

found another tool that does the same: nrg2iso.. :Thmbsup:

This program converts Nero CD images into ISO-9660 CD images. Nothing more and nothing less.

Warning: This program can not convert audio CDs.

Find And Run Robot / how do i.. with an alias?
« Last post by lanux128 on April 26, 2007, 10:57 PM »
this should be easy for regex pros.. i have this alias here to eject removable drives and i want the semi-colon to be added automatically after the drive letter. e.g. if i type "eject e" --> "eject e:"; "eject e f" --> "eject e: f:" (minus quotes).. can someone give me a hand.. :)

RegEx Pattern: ^eject (.*)

EjectCD $$1 | "C:\Program Files\SysTools\EJECT.EXE" $$1

another type of alias that i'm looking for is to link a path with the keyword, say "games" then whenever i type "games <abc>", Farr will be searching <abc> in the path only.. something like the "cpanel" that is available right now..

yeah, makes one wonder.. did CyberNet made a boo-boo by not checking their facts.. or Punk Software has been bought over by StarDock.. ;)

Darwin, due to this reason here, i am testing new programs to check out their features.. therefore i need to insert/eject the optical media.. that is what i meant in the earlier post.. :)

btw Crush, i put in some of my criteria so that we can brainstorm and identify a few major criteria.. also on the merge catalog feature, i was thinking of cdTree (see pic) but since it was last updated on Dec 26, 2004, i want to be on the safe side.. :)

As yet another example, the origin of the word "f**k" comes from a word meaning "to thrust", as in to thrust with a sword. (Old Anglo-Saxon)
here is another source that traces the origin via a Scandinavian derivation of "focka" meaning to copulate.. :)

yes, the file is virus-free.. most probably, due to DMEX Bar's features as a shell extension AVG is throwing up a false alarm.. :)

i'm in a catch-22 situation, since all these CD catalog programs involve putting in the CD/DVD and ejecting.. basically i'm doing the very thing that i want to avoid, hence the need for these programs for.. :) anyway, i'm trying out CDVista right now and the program responds quite well.. btw, tomos & Crush, how's the list coming up?

here are some criteria that i can think of:
• still in development
• modern UI (elegant interface, no Win 3.1 icons.. ;))
• able to merge catalogs
• can move discs to other catalogs
• DVD-support (naturally)
• look up info at CDDB for Audio CDs
• this is a plus: able to export to XML or other common format

i'll post here if i can think of anymore useful criteria.. :)
5243
could be any one from these.. :)

General Software Discussion / Re: envelope printing freeware?
« Last post by lanux128 on April 24, 2007, 10:05 PM »
cthorpe & hawleyj have unearthed a gem in Splinter Creek Envelope Wizard. i myself have been on a lookout for such a program but basically have given up since not many programs are up to the mark.. if only this program is in active development, it would have warranted a mini-review but since it's not, i'll just leave some of my comments here. :)

this program seems to have been completed in the year 2000 and true enough, the GUI is looks quite dated but however the app performs its tasks admirably. true to its name, the user is presented with series of questions before the actual printing takes place. it has the ability to save & retrieve addresses, even though i'm not sure about the maximum number. in any case, the documentation for this app comes in three formats - HTML, DOC & RTF while a "readme" file recounts some technical details of the program.

this program will be most useful for casual users like me who need to print envelopes once in a while and can't be bothered to grapple with all the codes and settings and since hawleyj had already highlighted some of the positives and quirks. there is no reason not to try this envelope wizard.

btw, Robert W. Keefe is credited as this program's author but there is no contact details. so, Bob if you're reading this - you have our deepest appreciation for such a simple & easy-to-use program. also, do register yourself at the DonationCoder.com to receive some well-earned DC credits..

btw, to get a somewhat modern looking buttons, you can also throw a manifest file into the program folder.. ;) (but you have to remove .txt to use)
* EnvelopeWizard.exe.manifest.txt (0.64 kB - downloaded 841 times.)

thanks tomos, i've already updated here.. :up:

as for the 2nd script, if you have AHK, copy & save the script then drag-n-drop the script onto LC (see pic) or drop on desktop to create a shortcut.. or you can compile into a EXE then use as a program.. :)

Post New Requests Here / Re: i need an icon for my apacer sd card!
« Last post by lanux128 on April 24, 2007, 09:19 PM »
app, you're the magic.. thanks for helping out.. :) p.s. i just got myself a microSD card *hint* *hint*

mouser, i took a normal autorun.inf and modified a bit.. anyway, here is it..
[autorun]
open=dud.exe
icon=Icons\apacer_sd_card.ico

btw, dud.exe is not necessary but i prefer to have it.. you can get dud.exe here

Dud is a program that does absolutely nothing. Run it and it will immediately unload. It can be used as a replacement for annoying system files, such as helpctr.exe or stobject.dll. Simply replace the file with dud.exe, and you'll never see the offending app again.
