- yes, Cat, I too have been wondering if I should import parts of mouse gestures. So far I haven't done it, because I really don't like these mouse gestures in general. But I would like this one feature, though, so maybe...

- well, that's an.. ehh... efficient design!  :P

Frankly, I am brand new to both Vista, Firefox 3, and the glass; I will take some time to enjoy the look (I have installed AeroFX theme for FF3, to get even more glass), before I maybe take up improving on efficiency.

- oh yes, KatMouse, that's one of my favourites, too,  :-)  but I really had forgotten it can scroll an entire page at a time. I am not going to use this feature, though, as I prefer to scroll only a line, but Thanks for reminding me!

However, in my setup it only works inside the little addons box, not in the big Firefox window.
Default theme.

Don't rush, it is late night around here, and I am off to bed, NOW.  ;)

It sounds to me as if TreeWalk is kind of dying?

For Microsoft Windows® XP, 2000, .NET and 2003 workstations or servers (Vista version pending). *

Latest TreeWalk Version:  TreeWalk DNS "Hawk" (version 8.21) currently available for download was compiled on Oct.11, 2005 and released November 11, 2005.

Instead of posting again again what extensions I have installed at the moment, I will express my longing for RichScrollbar; I really miss it! But the author gave up understanding how to update it for Firefox 3 :-(
Do 'you' have the knowledge to make it work?

For some hours I was also missing MinimizeToTray, because it hasn't been updated for Firefox 3, but I managed to find a fix :-) claiming this will keep it updated until Firefox 9.9.9 !!!   :o

I made a hack that will allow installation to Firefox and Thunderbird up to version 9.9.9. Works in Firefox 3.0.4 perfectly.

- thanks for link, Darwin. One must admire Bott's persistence to improve on these machines. I am looking forward to read the full story at http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=429

On top of this (small) time issue  I told about, there is this other micro detail: there is no hotkey button on my fancy wireless keyboard, to remote-start Vista. There is a 'sleep'-button, and some media player keys, but I will have to (almost) crawl around on the floor, to start the machine. What an annoyance, such a minor detail can be! Well, I guess the exercise may do me good...

Trying to get to learn Vista, is of course a major task for me right now, but I realize that I have made it more difficult for me than necessary  because I upgraded to Firefox 3 at the same time - one really doesn't have to make life harder than it already is. So in order to ease the burden, I've installed X-Setup Pro and am tuning Vista into a more familiar XP-ish behaviour. My square brains can only handle so many changes at a time ;-)

Today's giveawayoftheday is first of all a DRM remover and only then a converter

---

Sorry for not coming back to this thread, in time to answer your questions when the deal still was on, but I was struggling with my new PC. I took the giveaway, for my new Vista, and used the occasion to upgrade to PRO, for £9, and used this PRO to the purchase an extra license of PRO for $3. It was not possible to upgrade the giveaway version for $3.

HOWEVER, all these licenses are marked as special licenses, they will not grant me the same rights as full price deals, when the next major update comes.

Well, I have taken my new Vista into use, and so far it is even worse than I feared :-(

And, regarding the subject of this thread, my Vista is slow! The reason could be the two 500 MB discs edited: drives, I don't know. But at each and every Start  I will first have to press F12, and wait at least 10 seconds for the next window, where I am to hit Enter, to start booting into the right drive. Only then will Vista begin loading. This will happen at a moderate speed, nothing impressive there, I think, considering that only a handful of programs yet have been installed. The hole procedure is taking about 1½ minute, which I think is very slow, remembering that Brandon can reboot Vista within 25 seconds, and 22% boots in less than 30 seconds.

Maybe I will have learned to like Vista at about the same time Win 7 will be launched, edited: as I learned to like XP at about the same time as Vista was launched...

Today's giveawayoftheday is first of all a DRM remover and only then a converter:

November 20, 2008:

Daniusoft Digital Media Converter is a powerful media converter that supports both DRM media and normal media. It helps you convert DRM media: WMA, WMV, ASF and other video/audio: WMA, M4A, AAC, AC3, WAV, MP3, WMV, ASF to MP3, WAV, AAC, MP4, AVI, FLV, 3GP, etc. With this all-in-one media converter, you can easily remove DRM and convert popular video/audio to many players such as iPod, PSP, Zune, Creative Zen, Archos, Mobile Phone, etc.

If you grab it, it will be senseless not to take the $9 upgrade-to-PRO offer at the same time (during installation) - I literally use the PRO version every day, it is really worth this price!

I don't know if anyone else already has given this advice on DC:

Regarding boot time, for multiple cores:

While Vista is loading, only one core is being used. To reduce this boot time, take full advantage of the multiple cores and get the job done quicker. You can force Vista to use all available processors. To do this, please follow this tech tip below:

   1. In the Start Menu Search Box type "msconfig". Click Enter.
(You can also use this shortcut: Windows Key + R)
   2. Navigate to the Boot tab and click Advanced Options.
   3. Place a checkmark next to the box for Number of Processors.
   4. Choose the number of processors you would like to use in the pull-down menu.
   5. Check the Detect HAL box. Click OK.
   6. Check the box that reads Make All Boot Settings Permanent. Click Apply. Click OK.
   7. The System Configuration window will pop up. Click Yes to confirm.
   8. Restart your computer.

freewaregenius likes it too:

The verdict:
an innovative bookmark manager that takes a few simple concepts and puts them together in an intuitive way that makes sense. If you have been searching for a bookmark management program that is both practical and provides a good user experience, by all means check this one out.

Tidy Favorites is strictly for local favorites management, though, which may be a strike against it when most bookmark management programs seem to be clamoring to sync online; but be that as it may this program is definitely a winner and I recommend it wholeheartedly!

I am not sure if my Burning Studio 8 is stable or not - because I have never really used it. Why I bothered to upgrade from 6 and 7, I don't know for certain. I guess it was something like  I already have paid it twice, but if I upgrade again  it may finally be worth the money! ?

Sorry for not having read my mail in due time, but here it goes: Burning Studio 8 [not 2008, but 8] is very cheap for yet a couple of hours, $20 against the normal $50. I guess Ashampoo is warming up for version 9:

Hmm... it seems the problem must be a quite different one, most likely something locale, because whatever font size I am typing, the outcome is always one and the same. Well, what the heck; in a couple of weeks my new computer will be up and running, and the situation will be totally different. Just forget about this little problem of mine; it really is an unimportant detail. I just wish I understood the matter!

I have not been able to settle with version 2; it is way too big for me. I like version 1.2 because of the cute size combined with large text buttons, and version 1.4 because it will start minimized. But now I need version 1.5, I guess  ;D

I cannot make 1.4 display the text in the same way (size) 1.2 does:

It can be such a problem with people like Darwin. A few days ago I told myself to watch out for his post number 5,000, but then I left the room. When I came back he was already way over the hill, and far out in the horizon!!! [any accidental pun not too attempted]

That is what he tells everyone :)
He says it's already on his list of things to do

- and so to me:

Hi Curt, Thank you for your reply.
>
Wow, I am so impressed with your Everything! Next step surely must be to integrate with (replace) Explorer\'s search box just the same way the fine SearchGT does. This is my number one feature request, please!

This is on my "Things to do" list

However, he gave me another important information:

>
Number two [feature request] must be for you to set up a donate button, even though experience tells that very few will use it.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will help with the development of "Everything". I am only giving out my donation information for those that ask: [hint] [link]: paypaldonateblue.gif [/hint]
Kind regards, David Carpenter

It would be so cool if he really does write such a version!
