DC Gamer Club / Re: Build a Bundle
« Last post by lanux128 on May 28, 2012, 07:44 PM »
Have you tried downloading the games from the BIB? At least three of them seem to be corrupt files - including Necrovision which I have downloaded 3 times (and at over 5Gb it is a bit annoying!) and everytime got a corrupt archive. You can install it via Steam but its a shame the non-DRM version doesn't seem to work.
-Carol Haynes (May 24, 2012, 03:32 AM)

did you try the Necrovision download again? the corrupt file problem has been fixed.

« Last post by lanux128 on May 27, 2012, 10:45 PM »
@Elv12: thanks for the updates. i have been using SC's built-in config tool to call your app and the command line params (as pointed out by hamradio) are very useful.

@
title = ShareX
app = %THISDIR%\ShareX.exe
params = -nohotkeys -portable -silent "%file%"
// where to put %folder%
iconfile =
-ShareX.sctool

however that being said, i would like to request for a couple of enhancements.
1. right now after being launched in portable mode, ShareX reverts to non-portable mode if the param is not supplied. i suggest ShareX start in portable mode if the settings folder is detected within the app folder.
2. an option to exit after an upload job is done.

thanks for the program and i think your app has one of the coolest hot-key management out there! makes it so easy to reset/clear unwanted hotkeys and color-coded even..

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: [Gamersgate] Spring Sales (Up to 80% off)

the service touted as VOID (a bad pun?) seems to be some kind game-rental service financed by ads.

Everyone who is using VOID will get one slot for free. In the slot you can put the game you want to play by choosing it in the list of about 100 different titles. This game will close lock down the slot for 14 days so during that time you can only play the game of your choice. After 14 days you can pick another game and then the slot will be closed for antoher 14 days and so on.

A note about GG.. they seem to be taking a note from Gamefly, Impulse, and Steam- they're releasing a client next week...

that leaves GOG.com as the last client-free digital distributor.. :(

Fun idea - big overalap of games from the last offer though.
-Carol Haynes (May 23, 2012, 12:52 PM)

that's why they call it "build a bundle". the games from the 1st bundle can be excluded if you already have them.

Necrovision on that list is a big plus for me.  (though i wouldn't call it an indie). :)

just finished the beta. played as an Outlander with a panther for a pet (named him Keaton). couldn't try single-player nor LAN play for the beta but the MP connected well and i found myself playing with ease.

and as Deozaan mentioned it's on until Tuesday so if some DC'ers could join in, then it'd be much more fun. :up:

DC Gamer Club / Alert: "The Final Hours of Portal 2" PDF file compromised!
« Last post by lanux128 on May 15, 2012, 12:13 AM »
if you own the interactive PDF companion to Portal 2, "The Final Hours of Portal 2", then please be aware that the file has been compromised with some malicious code injection.

Valve has acknowledged the issue and has taken the store page offline. so if you had launched the PDF recently, do run a system-wide scan for any malware.

this issue was originally reported here.

Note: DC member Deozaan mentioned about the store page being offline in the chat-room, so credit to him for bringing this into our attention.

@Channing: my totalcmd favorites menu has some networked paths, which when called within Listary takes a long time to display. so i was wondering if anything can be done about this?
519
i'll wait for the upcoming version 4 then..
The deal has been extended to today, 2012-05-10.  The free vs. pro comparison chart at  http://www.listary.com/pro  says license is "lifetime," and even if there's an upgrade fee at some point it's usual for it to be reduced for existing users, so you might want to spring for it in hope.  It's not very expensive anyway.

ok, i made the jump for this fantastic offer. thanks to rjbull for the nudge and also to Channing for offering this discount.

@mouser: can please you add a context menu for text-selection in the Info panel? you know, the regular "copy, paste, select all" menu.

thanks

i hv a slightly OT question. is it possible to turn off this "Find as You Type" (FAYT) feature? instead, i would like to use Listary for the "Quick Switch" feature and "Favorites" menu.
Sorry that disabling FAYT is not supported in the current version. In Listary 4 you can configure the toolbar to not show up automatically when you type and trigger it via hot key manually.

@Channing: thanks for the info. i'll wait for the upcoming version 4 then..

since Kindle is a dirty word (read: restricted) here, i use Feedbooks whose store app came pre-installed with my android tablet. they have a good selection of eBooks that are public domain (therefore free) and also original self-published books (of which some are free).

@rjbull: thanks for the reply.. i also use totalcmd and so will look into the integration feature. i guess quick-switch function is a bit tricky as plenty of apps can't get it right.
