moerl, think Skype integration. I think this is what's taking so long. But it's only a theory.

I've been wondering myself what's been going on. It would be nice to finally get webcam functionality for MSN.

Ok, no problem, I'll make a post there when I get back from grocery shopping. I'll talk to a few ppl I know there as well  as some that I admire.

Hopefully I can get my new machine up and running soon so I can submit my own attempts. I'm having major problems with TigerDirect right now and should have had this thing decked out out a new MSI SLI mobo, processor, DDR2 RAM, blah, blah, etc. about a week ago.

Sounds like something I'd like to try...if I can ever find time.

Try posting over at the Deviantart forums. There are some amazing graphic artists there and some great people.

Thanks Renegade!  :D I'll try this compression utility.

Also, if you read this I'm curious to know why you were asking if there are any language learners here...do you have any interesting advice to those trying to learn another language? I need to learn Italian myself...

Thanks again!

Check out Audio Review for people that have bought and rated products. That's where I go before buying any new audio equipment or video for that matter.

It's an excellent site.

Star Wreck is hilarious! I love how it starts when he comes on to the bridge.  ;D I had tears coming out of my eyes I was laughing so hard. The copy I got is AVI and looks absolutely amazing. I hope to see more films come out like this. This wouldn't be possible without file sharing clients.

Hey Cliff, I'll definitely start a review of eMule for next week. It's going to take some time because there are so many features in the program.

File sharing is really great. A lot of websites are beginning to use ed2k links for distributing there files as it can really take a large burdon off of their bandwidth.  Also ed2k links allow anyone to host a file without having to know how to set up an FTP or having  to purchase a shell account and a domain.

Great for bands, film makers (as this topic conveys), software developers, any one. Like many things in life it can be used for good or evil. File sharing programs don't steal copy righted material, people steal copy righted material.

More in the review....it could end up being more of a fanatical rant than a review though because I really love the client. :D

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Visual CD is pretty incredible catalogue software

I'd like to do it but I'd have to test out Visual CD to formulate my own opinion...unfortunately I can't as I have the problem mentioned before. A very serious problem. I'm going to have to put it aside until my next hard drive format.

Oh well, I have a couple cool little free apps that I'll be adding to the review section before Monday. Monday my power will be off all day as I'm having a new electrical panel installed in the house I rent.

I won't be reviewing Visual CD I'm sad to say...

This program keeps causing my machine to hard boot. I'm not touching it again....

I advise searching for reviews of the retailer, not just the item, before giving out your money. Some sights will offer rebates that make their deals look that much sweeter...but than you discover that many of those rebates are never honoured and you notice the BBB complaints....*cough* TigerDirect *cough* and the atrocious customer service, etc....

Shangnyun, hahaha! ;D

I know exactly what you mean! I only dared click on a couple of them and that killed a couple hours right there...thankfully I'm already familiar with most of the software mentioned...but it was sooooo worth it. I got my fix....what a rush! :D

I currently use Advanced Disk Catalog and have used Super Cat (I think that's what it's called).

ADC does exactly what I need it to do and fast....so I really haven't needed to look around for a few years now. I am going to try Visual CD though as there are some features I'm hoping it has and I like the idea of using HTML to enhance database files.

If anyone else it interested I'd be willing to go in on a co-op review...

This looks great, I'm going to try it out today.

Not sure why I would need a file splitter in a cataloging utility though...maybe I do!

It can export to AVI

So you could make a quick video capture...and it's only a 60kb download.

I don't remember if Screenshot Captor can do that or not.

Fresh screenshots. New links compliments of mouser. :D

Not sure why they wouldn't link.

Note that version 2.15 is really 2.16.

Another...I used this one forever. No bugs, it worked. Nothing fancy though.

Panorama 32: http://ivory.org/panorama.html

...and a cool skinable one. Doesn't work well with large collections so I dumped it pretty fast. Would be nice if someone took it over and fixed up the code.

QuickChange [seems to be abandonware]: http://enclave-i.dreamflow.nl/quickchanger/

yet another with a really original name ;) ....

Nope, I've had no problems with Keynote.

I do eagerly await the next version as HTML support would be a great improvement as the limited RTF structure and its support for only BMP graphics files is a major gripe of mine. HTML would give so much more power to create interesting content.

I've got a postcard from Khaled (mIRC) on my fridge. He's actually the first I think to actually send ME a postcard! lol

But yeah, I agree. I've done this a few times myself and I often, at the very least email, the people behind the software I use to thank them for their hard work. Nothing like a little appreciation! :D

Another way I try to help is by offering suggestions and finding and reporting bugs. I'd donate more if I wasn't too lazy to set up a paypal account :(

I'm going to mention AccurateRip which can be used in tandom with EAC: http://www.accuraterip.com/

This plugin, once dialed in properly with a reference disc, can compare your rip with an online database of other error free results so you can be assured there are no audio defects present.

Also, if Jackie over at Audiograbber ever gets his new version out, it too is supposed to support AccurateRip.

Miranda is great. I don't use it at home but I keep it on my USB Drive along with portable Firefox and Thunderbird. Great for when I'm out of town...just pop my jump drive into any computer and I'm connected to my contacts instantly. Lot's of great plugins too.

Never, ever would I use this in place of mIRC though...no way!

For to do list and reminders I use Rainlendar: http://www.ipi.fi/~r...p;project=rainlendar

For notes, recipes, game codes/faqs, whatever,  I stick with Keynote: http://www.tranglos....om/free/keynote.html

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: I love the Bulk Rename Utility!
« Last post by Nighted on October 11, 2005, 11:24 PM »
I downloaded a couple wallpaper websites (thank you offline explorer!) and decided it would be fun to play around with these 2 other renamers. I wasn't crazy about 1-4a Rename as it's lack of smooth scrolling made it very difficult to  sort through the list and it was missing certain features that I'm used to.

Rename Master, however, has a lot of potential. I love the fact that you can select options on one tab and move to another and set more without resetting the previous. The preview window is very cool too. I did notice that is was very buggy when it came to hilighting individual files using Ctrl-click and looping multiple files in a row was also giveing me odd results as certain hilighted file would "un-select"...bizarre....I will be keeping an eye on this one though.

I love these forums, I keep finding some really cool software that even Google can't seem to find.
