Those movie 'hackers' are amazing...I can remember watching one movie (can't remember name of it now) where the software they were using to save and/or ruin the world was.....

Spoiler
Outlook?

There is a less drastic solution that might help. It won't do the drastic thing of locking up your pc to force you off it, but if you can find the willpower to walk away when it tells you to take a break, it might work for you.  ;)

Yeah, it's mine.  :)

Orsinal games are always so sweet and cheerful. And they have the unusual ability to relax you, rather than to cause the usual tenseness and anxiousness that normal games can. You can't help but smile when you play them. It's like a form of therapy.

I love them.  :-*

Notice how when the bunny falls from such an extreme height, he's ok...still hoping around on the ground, unhurt. If the game had been made by anyone else, he probably would have died a horrible bloody death.

the real difference is that in the movies the coders are rarely cursing out the computer in fits of pure rage.

or crying from frustration.

Mouser added an official one. See post below.

Make sure you check the blogs posted in the comments...there are a few good ones there.

I even left a link to one of my favorites;)

And don't forget...the best stuff is found by having a click adventure...click links to other blogs from the ones you land on...especially if you like them.

I probably won't keep all the bookmarks I added, but there were some I found that deserve a closer look at some point in the future.

I had some problems in the beginning too...they didn't want to accept a .png, or the file name was bad or I don't know what, but when it finally worked I snagged all the settings I used so other could do exactly what I did.

Just keep trying...sonner or later it will work, I hope.

Living Room / Re: Start on your first $1 million at age 16
« Last post by app103 on December 06, 2006, 12:41 AM »
Actually the concept of putting money into a retirement account starting when you are a teen isn't very new...goes all the way back to a book published in 1995 called More Wealth Without Risk. (probably even older than that)

But they took it a step further in their idea by suggesting that parents not put money away for their kid's college education, and instead dump it into an IRA for them and let the kids take over the payments as soon as they are old enough to work. And the amount they suggested teens put away was $1 a day.

I made a post in my blog a long time ago about the whole idea in response to something I read about people that make regular trips to Starbucks are wasting $1 million over the course of their life.

This is a pretty cool idea.

You can manually download the files instead of using some sort of podcast client.

And for complete books, you can download all chapters at once, if you go to the book's page after subscribing and click 'release all episodes'. Then you will get links at the bottom of the page to download all the .mp3 files.

And they support download managers!  (at least it works for me using Flashget)

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Restart IE
« Last post by app103 on December 05, 2006, 10:40 AM »
This would work for you, but it is free today only:

http://www.giveawayo...heday.com/ierescuer/

IERescuer is a useful utility that extends the capabilities of your Internet Explorer browser. It enables you to continue working on the page or pages that were closed last time, even if your Internet Explorer or Windows crashed.

Start with the pages you had open when the browser was last closed. Reopen closed windows.
Don’t trouble yourself about filling in the forms on the page again and again.
Having filled in any fields of the form on the page once, you won’t have to bother yourself with it. You’ll be able to restore it automatically the next time you launch your Internet Explorer.

IERescuer shows last visited pages dialog when Internet Explorer starts up, even after a crash if users wish.
Users can select any last visited pages to open, or close the dialog to open a blank tab.

Because this is only a one day offer and won't be free after today, I am still going to try to do this coding snack.

Do it exactly the way I wrote in the tutorial...file names & all...exact.

If you can't get it to work, try deleting some custom backgrounds you already uploaded and try again.

If you still can't get it to work or you didn't have any old custom backgrounds to delete, then try again tomorrow.

Other than that I don't know what to tell you.

General Software Discussion / Re: TOP 11 Tools for Sending BIG Files
« Last post by app103 on December 04, 2006, 11:08 PM »
There are some inaccuracies in that chart:

Yousendit only allows 100mb files unless you have an account. And if someone with an account sends you a file over 100mb you will need an account to download it.

Gigasize will allow 300mb files for 45 days without an account. And a free account allows 1.5 gig files for 90 days, and a paid account allows 2.5 gig files with permanent storage, for as long as you have a paid account.

Megashares allows a single session of 10 gigs, which can be a single 10 gig file or a bunch of files totaling no more than 10 gigs.

MailBigFile has a 512mb file size limit.

Additionally...

Rapidshare is no longer a free option. They are switching to only paid accounts being able to upload.

MooLoad allows 500mb files for as long as you choose.

And then there is this classic from 1976 written by Bill Gates himself.

Who can afford to do professional work for nothing? What hobbyist can put 3-man
years into programming, finding all bugs, documenting his product and distribute for free? The fact is, no one besides us has invested a lot of money in hobby software.

4971
Is anybody else having a problem getting it work?

It won't let me register.
4972
I'd like to see some member written articles...maybe a series of some sort.

Things comparable in quality to this well written one.

These would be great additions to the blog and might get the blog some attention.

Might be nice to see the return of the podcasts too.
