If all of that is as true as the author wishes you to believe, how does one explain the overpopulation of China?  ;D

And the alternative of eating testosterone loaded beef or chicken loaded with artificial estrogen wouldn't really be better.

There is a relationship between the typical size of female breasts in the US in the past and the typical size of what you'd find on the average teenage girl today.

The increased amount of artificial estrogen fed to chickens has caused a noticeable increase in average breast size in the last 20 years.

Maybe tofu isn't to blame...maybe KFC* is.

And what about the side effects of too much testosterone from eating too many McDonalds cheeseburgers?

Could it explain the rise in teen angst? Could males be experiencing what is usually referred to as 'roid rage'?

*KFC = Kentucky Fried Chicken, a fast food restaurant specializing in...you guessed it...fried chicken.

I have a working Atari 7800 and it's always fun when my daughter introduces friends to old school gaming.

Now just imagine introducing a room full of teens to Activision Decathalon...or California Games.  :D

The language used and opinions expressed are similar, yet much more mature in nature.

The boys had a blast teasing each other while playing Decathalon with a really high quality Hot Shot 8 direction, quadruple button, joystick that all you had to do is pick it up and shake it and hit the trigger button with the thumb of the same hand you were holding the stick with.  :P

It was almost like watching perverts play with a wii.

Learning anything used to be a snap for me.

When I was younger I was a gifted student...very gifted...gifted enough to be able to excel and hide a learning disability at the same time.

Nobody knew I was dyscalculic. I had a bag of tricks that let me hide it from age 7.

I was one of the first students in an experimental program for gifted students in NJ. I was one of only 2 students that qualified from my school. I moved at the end of grade 7 and that was the end of any opportunities that could have provided.

In my new home, in another state, I was made an offer halfway through 8th grade...to complete high school in 1 year instead of 4. The town would then pay for my first 3 years of college. It never happened because I moved again.

High school was one boredom after the other in an inner city school where the majority of students could barely read. I ended up dropping out.

At age 16, the day I dropped out of high school, I registered at a local community college. They made me take an entrance exam. I was the first person in the history of the school to score a perfect score on that test. The deal was that if I could get my father to sign the permission papers, I would receive a full scholarship. Because I was underage, they couldn't accept me as a student without his signature. He refused to sign.

A class I took when I was 14 introduced me to the world of programming. It was magical...it felt natural...it was a discovery of what I really was inside...a programmer.

Life has a way of throwing lemons at you and the idea of ever going to college had to be scrapped in favor of motherhood and marriage to a guy that doesn't like the idea of his wife working outside of the home.

Having all my dreams crushed had a bad affect on me...I avoided technology...even feared it.

It wasn't till my father gave me his old computer back in 1999 that I even owned one. He dropped it off at my house and said "here, you need this".

No truer words have ever been spoken. I have been attached to a keyboard & mouse every moment possible ever since.

Everything I know about computers I have taught myself in the last 7 years.

I am in 'school'...the class size is 1...I am both student & teacher, trying to teach myself programming. It's not easy...I struggle for every scrap of knowledge & skill.

This would have been a simple thing to learn way back when. I am frustrated with myself for not being able to grasp things as quickly as I used to. It's frustrating to see kids that I inspire, pick up a book and 6 months later have more knowledge than it took me to learn in 2-3 years.

And it's not like I don't know how to teach myself...it's that I am just not grasping things like I used to.

But I am not going to give up. That would be denying what I am on the inside, yet again, and I can't do that.

Being realistic, I don't believe I will ever be a good enough programmer to be employable by a company, but I can possibly be good enough in time to be a self employed shareware/donationware programmer and earn enough to cover the necessities of life.

Yes, I have asked the same question as you...at age 40.

I'd love to have a white board, but it has two problems: lack of portability (i often spend the weekend at my parents') and it takes too much space (if i want to have a decent one, i can't fit it in any wall :( )

Tightwadder's whiteboard:  white posterboard covered with clear packaging tape

This can be folded and taken with you.   :D

You can use the standard dry erase markers, or even better is high quality Crayola crayons (just buff off with a dry paper towel or cloth).

The crayon is less likely to smear, they don't dry out, and you can get a whole lot more colors for the same price as a good set of markers.

Now...if you find yourself drawing the same type of diagram over & over the same way, consider taking a black Sharpie and drawing a template for yourself on the posterboard before you cover it with the clear tape.

When my daughter was younger, I did one with a map of the US on it for her to use as a study tool.

How delightfully amusing!  :D

"The Givers" are always misunderstood.

Everyone will agree that money isn't everything, but few believe it like "The Givers" do.

That's why they don't understand.

I am trying to get away from pen & paper as much as possible, since the amount I can go through planning a project is enormous, costly, and not environmentally friendly.  :-[

I am opting more for Paintshop Pro and a software based sticky note board, along with ToDo lists and simple text files.

Then there is of course my browser, for research...

and various chat programs for when I get frustrated and need help or to just interact with another human to relieve stress.

Essential though, is a HUGE cup of tea and a pack of Djarums...I won't get anywhere without that.

and sometimes...bubblegum. http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/7087/smileybubblegumbj8an5.gif

With very rare exceptions, everything I do is in Delphi.

Anything you find that isn't Delphi is likely to be a project from the past....or the newest website I am working on, which is nothing more than html, css, and very simple js/php.

I am an ENFP - The Visionary.

Actors, journalists, writers, musicians, painters, consultants, psychologists, psychiatrists, entrepeneurs, teachers, counselers, politicans, diplomats, television reporters, marketers, scientists, sales representatives, artists, clergy, public relations, social scientists, social workers.. Very creative and fun-loving, they excel at careers which allow them to express their ideas and spontaneity.

This type is found in only about 5 percent of the general population, but they have great influence because of their extraordinary impact on others.

Hopefully there will be a software utility available to move your license to a new computer easily in future.

You have to consider these giveaways as an extended trial. The trial will last as long as the current installation of your OS on your current machine.

If you love the programs so much that you wouldn't want to lose them should something happen to Windows, or your pc, then consider buying them.

That is the whole purpose of this giveaway, and that is why they can get developers to agree to giving away their applications for 1 day only.

I think moving the license to another pc or anything that would allow you to reinstall it, wouldn't exactly be legal and would violate the terms of the agreement with Giveaway of the Day and the developers of the applications offered on their site.
