from a DC perspective, i wonder how many times mouser had to listen to comparisons to other launchers, screenshot programs and etc.. in fact, i've made several references myself.. :)

DcUpdater / Re: Installed programs not recognized
« Last post by lanux128 on August 21, 2007, 09:38 PM »
in chronological order:
1. i launched DCU 1.21.01 and was told that there is a new version for DCU (1.23.01) & Farr (2.00.142).
2. i updated from DCU but using the external downloader option so FDM did the downloading.
3. after completing the downloads, i exited Farr & DCU and extracted manually into respective folders (C:\Program Files\DC\<program name>).
4. that's it. then i started Farr then launched DCU.

btw, my OS is WinXP Pro SP2. i thought this was related to the problems that some had with Farr plugins..

i'm sure this has been mentioned before but i couldn't find the thread. so here it is again.. what to do when DCU shows programs already installed as "not installed"? :)

as can be seen in the image below, i already have Farr (definitely), LBC, SC & CHS..

agreed, i need a image editor with pre-defined shapes and better cropping abilities such as circular crop to re-create the zoom-in look.. but i wouldn't want to be bogged down with too much photoshopping.. :)

to be frank, i actually had attempted to learn Brazilian Portugese a few months ago

Don't be Frank: I've been shouting at him for ages, he must be deaf!

normally, i would double-click on the column divider to view columns that are shown partially.. now, as much as i'd like to be able to read the items in full.. i don't want to cause another big bang, we already have our hands full with Al Gore's global warming.. :)

Hmmm - the site is at a .br domain. I'm thinking English probably isn't their first language. Maybe it's spelled correctly in Portuguese!

to be frank, i actually had attempted to learn Brazilian Portugese a few months ago, now i realize how i must have sounded to those Brasileiros..

packet-writing technology is not reliable, i had used Nero's InCD before but mainly for transit from one pc to another.. of course, nowadays 4gb thumb drive has taken its place.. :)

tsaint, TNT Screen Capture looks cool but i'm already comfortable with a certain program called Screenshot Captor.. ;) thanks anyway..

mouser, since i realized that it's not a one-click process.. i am already trying to do this with SC but the call-outs are proving to be a bit difficult.. any tips on that? maybe we can have some pre-defined shapes similar to that zoom-in square/circle..

« Last post by lanux128 on August 21, 2007, 08:06 AM »
Thanks jgp. I replaced 'Ctrl' with 'Fn', but it doesn't work. How to modify the script to use 'Fn' as the hotkey?
I think there's no way for autohotkey to detect fn, sorry :(

IIRC the Fn key is hardcoded & is not detectable under Windows. AHK has a way to assign these keys but it is different from one laptop to another.. Check out the Special Keys section in the documentation.. :)

thanks, i'll keep that in mind.. but if i buy a motherboard with a single IDE, then i'll have to get a rack to stack up hard-disks.. :)

yes, they're from Gothic3.. thanks guys for clarifying things.. i was hoping that a single program could do the job but it looks like an image editing software is required to take one screenshot, super-impose it on another screenshot and add the call-outs.. :)

i was browsing a gaming website when i came upon these screenshots. i kinda like the way they have this zoom-in thingy and was wondering how did they do it. is this possible with just a screenshot program? btw, the website is in german, so i had to pose the question here.. :)

As for that first script that lanux mentioned, i think it will probably conflict with the other ahk script you have :(

oh, i wasn't aware of that, jgpaiva.. what is the problem with that script?

hmm.. that's strange, kiwi2b. did you had this problem in previous versions? in fact, i was having similar problems myself (see this post). :o i will try compiling again & see if that solves the problem.. :)

also on the program update, i'm halfway thru' the options gui and am awaiting some art-work from our resident Cody designer, nudone..

« Last post by lanux128 on August 20, 2007, 12:16 AM »
Just to clarify, I meant compile a list of the apps mentioned in this thread and pick, say, the top 10 or 12 and then run a poll asking people to pick the top three from the list that they use...

yes, this would give a more accurate result since the earlier response included browsers (including myself), emails apps & etc..

that's a nice collection of games you have there, tinjaw.. i have MoH: Pacific Assault but yet to play.. btw, are you moving somewhere that prompted this whole-sale clearance? :)

I was going to ask once I started reading of we could get a discount on it, as it would help me keep my hearing for more then the next month ;D but I already see lanux has hinted at that.
i had already notified cthorpe and he has e-mailed the author. let's keep our fingers crossed.. :)

Now I used Directory Opus to save having another tool handy.
same here.. your mention of DOpus reminded me that i too frequently use Altap Salamander's built-in ftp client rather than launching a separate app.. :)
