Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Kaspersky Internet Security 7

Anyone dig the new kaspersky 2010 (v9)?  I just installed it, not having any problems.  Seems cool enough, not that different from 2009.

Grrr..  I have spent about three hours on my WSW bookmarks between yesterday and today. Watch filters for price checks at Amazon and Newegg. Very simple. Highlight the price alone - nothing else - and then a watch filter set as "contains changing numbers/dates". They all work great for a couple days, sometimes a week or two. Then - suddenly I get error messages saying that the whole content is blocked! If I delete the filter and then recreate it exactly, all is well again. Well, at least for a short time.

Grrr....

Jim
I experienced this once also, with Newegg.  I never bothered looking for a solution, but I am curious about it.

Ok, point taken.  I will go on the WSW forum.  I've just too busy/lazy lately.  I'm tired of signing up for forums.

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: EVEREST Ultimate -30%
« Last post by superboyac on June 22, 2009, 06:54 PM »
I always hear people talking this program and ones like it, but I never understood what it was really used for?  What is a normal computer user supposed to do with Everest?

I'm trying to use WW to check my "new replies to your posts" page.  but I'm having trouble configuring it properly because when there are no replies, not only is nothing shown, but the dates and header titles are gone also.  So the script has trouble recognizing what those fields are.  I know some of you use WW here, so I'd appreciate the advice.  Thanks.

Is it possible to import text files from folders-subfolders and use them as items in InfoQube? I do not want to manually create stuff. I want to import some 800 plain text files into IQ as content.

Hi Kartal,
It would probably be best to post that question in the IQ forum. However, all I can say is that it's not part of IQ's philosophy to import whole documents into it but, rather, link them to the database. But... it would probably be trivial for Pierre to add this option to IQ -- just ask Pierre.

Armando, thanks for the reply. Linking would not do any good to me because I probably wont be able to search them. I woulld prefer that IQ would import them then create the topics based on file names.
I second this.  I've already created a mantis suggestion for it a while ago.  Yes, the item field should be the filename, and the contents of the text file should go in the html pane.  Either that, or the user should be able to specify how each gets mapped.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Bug? general instability

i wonder if its this issue of changed drive letters not being resolved properly, and yet LBC trying to resolve them.. maybe network drive slowdown if LBC is looking on network drives for files?

can you test this theory by starting LBC without any launchbars and creating a new one or two and seeing if there is any problem doing that?
(you may have to delete the mcp file or .ini in order to start it without it loading your old files, or delete your old files).
needless to say: back up your files first.
OK, it works when I delete those files and start from scratch.

But, when I try to load my previously configured launchbar files, the application hangs and goes back to full 25% cpu usage.  I have to force it to close.

I don't know if this is the same, but LBC works fine when I use the locally installed version on my home pc with it's own toolbar.

I'm not using any network drive programs.  I'll try your suggestion out.

LaunchBar Commander / Bug? general instability
« Last post by superboyac on June 19, 2009, 04:34 PM »
I've been using LBC at work for a while now with no problems.  Now, for the first time in a while, I stuck my USB into my home computer and launched LBC.  Nothing showed up (none of my launchbars).  So I kept running LBC, about 4 times I think.  Then my computer slowed to a crawl because my CPU usage went to 100%, with each LBC instance taking up 25%.  So I had to restart, I couldn't do anything.  Then I tried to run LBC again (just once this time), and again nothing happened.  I checked CPU usage and it showed LBC using 25% again.  This is on my new 4 GB Ram, quad core cpu computer.  So something is wrong.  I updated the files to the latest LBC version, and it did the same thing again.  What can be the problem?

[edit]
Whoops!  Seems to have been fixed in the latest version.  Thanks!

Bug:
When Linkman is sorted by launch count, items with a blank count are placed before items with an actual count.  It shouldn't be that way.  Blank should be either equal to zero, or less than zero.

as for the tab submenus:  create one tab submenu on the dock, and then create normal submenus as children of it; then the top level tab node can switch between its children submenus.
OK, I think I get it.  So you have several submenus, but the one showing in the parent is the last child chosen?  That would be cool.

I don't quite understand either of the major features.  I'll have to read more and experiment.  Sounds cool? ;)

Windows Media Player for Music
Here's my recommendation in case you care:  use something other than Windows media player for music.  I mean, there are a zillion better options that are free.

Maybe this could be part of the fancy script section once it becomes developed.

Seems to be completely fixed.  Thanks!

It works, thanks!  LBC is my most used portable app.  I'm curious how many others use it in portable mode.  The pop-up menu hotkey can't be beat.

I used to be tentative about beta software, but over the years I've barely had any stability issues with them.  I think the word beta has changed drastically over the years to the point now where beta is just normal to me now.  heck, is gmail still beta?

Just email the developer, he'll send you your registration info.

As for Ad Muncher's development pace, yeah, it's slow.  But it works.

Any chance I can try this update?  (sorry, don't mean to be a nag :-[)

And no equivalent app for linux :(
pdf display/editing on linux is really not very good.
That's a shame.  That's one of the things that always keeps me from moving to Linux.  I am in love with a lot of Windows software, and I can't let them go!
