General Software Discussion / Re: Any program to manually run startup programs?
« Last post by cmpm on November 05, 2012, 09:19 PM »
WinPatrol reads what runs at startup.
Along with delay, add and remove options.
But no export shortcuts to a folder deal, if that is what you mean.

I like that one Miles, good one!

Keeping a folder of shortcuts to your startup items is handy.
Not only if you want to start them manually but also to check to see if they are all running.
Sometimes I forget what I have enabled to run at startup.

General Software Discussion / Re: Can 'Captor' go LITE like "Greenshot"!?
« Last post by cmpm on November 05, 2012, 10:43 AM »
I do like the office plugin with Greenshot.
That can be configured in SC.

Resource usage is about the same.

edit-
well...hm GS just doubled in mem usage after a shot and then back to idle
while SC stays low idling no matter what you have just done with it

free ram command knocks 'em both down to about the same again
not everyone should be using a free ram .exe
or even all the time, I use it for testing things like this

Coding Snacks / Re: Single click focus, double click bring to front

Wizmouse will do this-

1. Hover makes a window active, but does not bring it to the front

2. Single Click makes a window active and brings it to the front.

And it will enable scrolling on inactive windows when hovering.

click the 'zip' to download, save yourself unwanted trouble

General Software Discussion / Re: Synergy Virtual KVM

Is there some trick to getting it to work? Or is  there some tweak or gotcha that you need to be aware of - and probably everybody else knows about but me?  huh

I think you have to turn on file and printer sharing on all computers,
if I remember correctly.

When I did use synergy, I think it was 1.3.1.
Even after the newer versions came out, because it worked, I stayed with 1.3.1.
But now I don't need it, so, have not tried in a long time.
Anyway here is the older versions,
http://synergy-foss.org/download/?alt
I expect they still work if the same versions are on all computers.
I had 3 connected together with no trouble.

I agree that it's only a trial via gotd.
And not a bad way to promote a product imo.

BitsDuJour goes further, of course.
I can still download and activate the free software given from the email.

Which is one reason I prefer web mail.
The code and download is still there after a format.

Ha! found it Win+W starts the Listary window.
Easier then I thought. Win+W seems to be the launching point of most features.
Found the search box with it, nice!

Nice informative video, thanks tomos.
I'll leave it on and auto start for a while and see what I can do.
I'm not so much a keyboard enthusiast but I can try.

Listary informed me that WinKey + W was already in use.
But it didn't say by what nor what it wanted that hotkey for.
I looked rather quickly through the interface.... and got lost, lol.
But, I'm in no hurry.

Ok, so what is Listary Pro anyway....?
What is it for and what does it do?
I did download it, interested, cause it's been talked about so much.
I've learned to read threads as well,
so if you could point me to a thread,
I might get a handle on what I just installed.

Thanks!

General Software Discussion / Re: Best Windows 7 desktop background changer?

'Picture of the Day' is pretty cool.
It downloads from a few pics of the day sites.
Needs an internet connection to download the pics.
And it will access your location info,
which can be blocked.

http://www.xequte.co...ther/index.html#potd
{about half way down the page}

I do like the option to save all downloaded pics to a folder of your choice.
Along with the ability to limit the number saved.

It will work-the update for DX.
It doesn't matter if you have dx11 or not.
Worked for me, and i have W7.
465
Use the "Direct Download Link" under cnet's link to skip their add-ons.

Thought this may be a good thread to post this update.
For Pictomio, now includes a free pictoGEO license key.

There are other process' that spike when a video is started.
Most notably on my computer is audiodg.exe, which doubles in memory.
Maybe these other process' need to be set to your preferences as well.

Screenshot Captor / Re: My experiences with Screenshot Captor
« Last post by cmpm on September 13, 2012, 09:42 AM »
I keep a shortcut to my Screenshots Folder on the desktop, for quick access,
or you can put in your taskbar.
Drag and drop will work, but will move the pic.
Ctrl-c on the pic with focus, and Ctrl-v in the folder, will copy the pic.
For Windows 7.
471
Windows Explorer is the problem I believe.
If you highlight the file first, let the icon and info load at the bottom of Windows Explorer.
It will work better and faster on right clicking the file and double clicking to open.
Seems to be slow until it sees the file fully.

Living Room / Re: Staple of people from State and Europe !

Thanks for the responses.

Anything is okay with moderation and a good balance.
I think balance is key for too thin or too fat,
and for those in good shape as well.

I just need to take the time to get and eat the right stuff.
My wife's various diets to loose weight, required her to eat more then she was eating.
But to eat the right things that work together.
It always worked if the plan is followed.

I don't drink alcohol, and a lot of fast food won't work.

The protein drinks and vitamins, should just be a supplement to real food.

Yes, protein is needed, Edvard, thanks, along with good veggies and fruit.

I could use some tips on what to eat to get my weight back up.
Having lost too much from 2 surgeries (4 inguinal hernias) over the past year.

Basically anything cooked, there will be a loss of the nutrients inherent in most foods.
Baked or boiled is always better then fried I think.

I love breads.
But in the list of ingredients, it has to start with whole grain wheat.
Anything else is a waste of good wallpaper glue. :)

Louisiana has some great cuisine, if you can stay away from most of the fried stuff.

Good topic here!

Here is a web service that says it can do it.
The free account will only do 300 sites, useless, I know.
I have over a thousand myself.
It's $3 a month or $20 a year.

Here is what you are looking for I think.

http://historio.us/

full-text search

Search your historified sites using a simple search box. Don't wade through lists of obscure titles, enter a few keywords you remember from the content of the page and you're off!

"historified" is the sites in your account

as if they know the universe......

my take on the universe
is that it is a reflection of who we are
still exploring that as well

but that's a different look
and not trying to write down an ending conclusion
