- Each time I launch a new timer, I have to re-enter the wav file, to check the Repeat/Blink checkboxes and the minutes to start count down always set to 10. Is there a way to remember the previous timer's settings? So when I press the hotkey there will be 3 minutes, 30 seconds, the alarm wav file selected and both check boxes checked?

That is most peculiar as it is supposed to be saving any configured timer until the Delete Timer X button next to the configured timers drop down menu is clicked. Other wise all timer configuration should be stored in the registry under:
HKCU\Software\Stoic Joker's\T-Clock 2010\Timers\TimerX [X being the timer number]

Scrolling through the configured timers dropdown menu should automatically display the options selected for that timer. Can you confirm that the timer config is getting stored in that registry location when a timer is started?

- Tclock properties> time format>custom format: it does not accept the dash / key as a day separator, though it accepts \   Is this normal behavior?

It should accept any character you put in, unless the character is one of the format specifiers. In which case you need to encase it in "quotes" to ge it to display as-is. Note: \n is a line break. Can you post the string you are trying to use?

This happens only with Segoe fonts. Others like Tahoma or Verdana don't have this problem.

After looking into this, I've come to the unfortunate conclusion that the Segoe fonts are simply incompatable. The purpose of the font quality option selection was to resolve the fuzzy font issues that were caused by differences between Windows versions...(No single option remained clear from Win2k - 7)...Which it did for the most part, allowing each OS to get its own "best" setting. Unfortunately there aren't any other options for rendering fonts available.

On the water front I'm a big fan of hydrogen. It can be used in existing reciprocal combustion engines, and electric cars with hydrogen fuel cells. Not to mention it's virtually impossible to run out of.

Bonjour has got to be one of the most useless, chatty, unsecure POS excuses for a protocol I have ever encountered. Service advertisement, addressing & name resolution all rolled into one "tidy" package (kinda like a used diaper) ... It's no wonder they suck at doing anything on the wire, they've been blinded at birth.

I got stuck on-site with a (Snow Leopard) Mac user who was trying to get a copy of Quark 6.5 to Print. Now Mind you everything else on the machine could print fine. But the older version of Quark couldn't quite make it past Bonjour to actually get to the printer - Because Bonjour kept moving the target and insisting it need to be redefined.

This cycle repeated every time the user restarted the application. Even if nothing changed, except a refresh of the DHCP assigned IP address. Bonjour (like an idiotic puppy) went romping off to "find" everything again to see where it had gone... Even though the printer, which is statically address, didn't/hasn't/can't move!!!

Now I realize that Apple thinks backward compatability is bad for sales ... But creating a protocol that automagically breaks things? Damn ... If that's their definition of "easy"... I'd much rather do it the hard way.

Welcome screen should also be a window (of sorts), and considering it is rather mandatory on the newer OS's it's probably worth considering (...Then again I should probably consider being quiet )

Forgot to mention, I haven't tried to send a password into the prompt yet because I completely forgot 
I was just testing with two non-password accounts but I just tried it with a password and it worked.

One feature that might be nice is the ability to filter it to only touch files within a certain date range -- that would make it useful for "fixing" bad file/date timestamps.

I've been mulling this one over, mainly trying to figure out when someone would need to do that. It is do-able...However time is a factor. So I'm not sure when I could get to it.

SJ: that shouldn't be possible - at least not directly. Winlogon runs on a separate desktop (the NT object type, not "background where your wallpapers go").

If you elevate your application to LOCALSYSTEM privileges, everything is possible, but that's nasty hackery.

True, but once you go down the interact with the login desktop road, you have to be on it to interact with it. So why not just cut to the chase and access the login window directly?

I ran across something (article on TechNet) a while back (wish I could remember where) that said that MS had depricated the GINA in favor of something new in Vista & 7. This change also affected XP some time after SP2.

I do recall it being tied into the (for security) services/session 0 isolation changes.

My guess would be no. It will (most likely) run into the same roadblocks the WiFi detector project ran into.

I know you can set a automated login but there's no way to delay it AFAIK.

Zoiks! ...That looks like hell. It's gotta be something to do with the font as that is definitely not the clock's normal behavior ... I'll have to play with a bit to see if I can figure out what is happening.

That is rather odd. There were some Fuzzy Font issues awhile back, which is why I added the Quality option to the Clock Text tab. But the fuzzy part was found to be directly related to the wallpaper bleeding through a transparent Taskbar) pretty much an all-or-none set & forget type of issue, not a per font adjustment. Your black background clearing font appearance test also tracks with this (I've got scheenshots earlier in the thread from running much the same test)

In both of your screenshots the quality setting is on ClearType (XP), what happens if you set it to AntiAliased (Win7), without the black border?

Hopefully I'll have time to run some tests this evening to see (if/)how well I can replicate this.

Description
One of the in-House (work) projects required me to modify the file dates of several hundred files on a semi-regular basis while a new system was being implemented. Obviously this had to be automated....

All of the then available utilities for this were in the $50 range, so I decided to take a stab at writing my own utility (because I'm cheap and had free time back then).

This actually started as a CodeProject.com code sample which was posted as an example of how to programmatically change file dates. Being that that was exactly what I was looking for, I used it as a starting point, dressed up the GUI, added a few features, and re-factored the existing code to increase the applications speed (x20) dramatically.

Features
Change Created, Modified, and Last accessed dates on a File or Folder.
Change the Read Only, Hidden, or System Attribute on a File or Folder.
Change the above on All Filed & Folders in a given Target Folder.
Bypass (Read Only or System) Attributes to effect changes as necessary.
Will also Display if target File of Folder is (NTFS) Compressed or Encrypted.

Planned Features
This Application has no future plans.

Using the Application
Just select the target File or Folder and it's current dates and attributes will be displayed. Adjust them to your liking and hit Save Changes.

  Wait-a-minute, that maybe (i'm not sure) one of the new in development build options ...(it's available in the copy I have here at work - But it's build 95)... So (you might sort of have me).. How about I split this one with Ya.

Configurable mouse click options are on T-Clock Properties->Mouse Tab (Calendar option is among them)

I usually use copy custom timestamp to clipboard for single left click, and then pop the calendar with a double left click, but that's (why it's configurable) up to you.

In the currently available build the middle button actions are broken, but that will be fixed in the next release build.

Wow. I always wondered what Window 1 & 2 looked like. I remember we had pre-Windows machines like a TI-98 and some monochrome systems I don't know the names of, but the first version of Windows my family ever used was Windows 3.1(1).

While a proper help file is still in the "Planning Stage"... The currently available Custom Format option are listed in the T-Clock Help.rtf file that was included in the download.
