when i'm creating a mix CD for my mp3 player, i use DC's own Random MixTape Maker. you can drag and drop the files from the playlist into another folder/drive..

Making "mix tapes" is as old an idea as the tape recorder itself; Random MixTape Maker was made to create a completely unique list of your favorite songs every time you use it, thus taking the hassle of searching through specific songs every time you want to make a mix of your own. Use it to make fresh mixes for your own listening pleasure, or use it to turn your friends on to your genre of music.

Since my photos are nothing like as stunning as yours, I just crop whatever I want to postcard size and print that. Then I print the message/address side, align the two and it's done. I find this a good way to stay in touch with people (mainly relatives) who aren't into email. Carol's reference to Avery pre-cut stock is worth noting too.

hehe, you are being modest.. it looks like i have to do the same too even though it is a dare to send the pic as a postcard.. btw, i need some info on the "align the two" part. do you print on two sets of paper & stick them together?

thanks for the replies, sorry jgpaiva, it didn't occur to me that GridMove would be useful in a multi-monitor setup too and maybe this thread can be used to collect all possible multi-monitor tools.. :)

as for justice's points, even though some games work ok but other games & educational programs insist assiduously on a single monitor. and also like mwb1100, i'd prefer a docking type of system because sometimes my wife or kids use the pc and i didn't want the dual-monitor to be overwhelming..

mwb1100, i thought of emailing devs too about support for multi-monitors but that would be a crusade and i haven't the energy for that.. :P btw, i also use the Alt+Space+M combo for the time being..

i want to kind of gather feedback & ideas from regular users of multi-monitors for some of my queries on this matter..

1. with the extended desktop dimension, what can be done about apps opening off-screen or on the other monitor, instead of the primary monitor?
2. sometimes, i place some windows on the 2nd monitor & the apps remember the settings which is fine, until i disable the 2nd monitor (for gaming purposes) then the apps appear off-screen again. can a program be trained to check the availability of the monitor before coming into view?
3. finally, what are the tools you use to enhance the multi-monitor experience? i know of only two - MultiMon Taskbar and UltraMon.. :)

in the days before internet, i remember sending postcards to quite a few shareware authors who made their programs postcard-wares.. but nowadays since i tend to capture interesting landmarks and landscape around the area where i work digitally, maybe i'll just print them & write the address on the reverse-side and try posting them. would it work? :)

...QuickTime Player 7 was exactly the opposite, asking about everything and registering a sensible subset of media types.

maybe Apple had actually smelled the coffee and toned down a bit..

for me, so only Gmail has supplanted the traditional email client, though i do keep Thunderbird around to d/l & archive my Gmail messages once a month.. i sort of *trust* Google with my mails since it is an online behemoth and unlikely go down any soon or in danger of being bought over by another company.. however, tellingly i don't use much of Google Docs because i believe it's too much of hassle to wade through folders in a browser to find a documents..

found a similar program with the added advantage of changing the typed words to the language intended.. currently supports only 3 languages but you can drop an email to the author to add other languages.

Text Converter
Text Converter will correct typing errors usually happened due to forgetting switch the keyboard language before typing.
Also Text Converter allows you to change letters case from uppercase to lowercase and vice versa or just capitalize the first letter of a word.

the Quicktime Alternative project has been abandoned due to Apple's insistence and since then has been replaced by QT Lite. btw, if i'm not mistaken, all three are re-packaged by the same team, more info here..

i found a web-tool called Embiggen that expands tinyurls on-the-fly. it "uses a Dapper service to expand any mysterious TinyURLs into their full version". the page also has a bookmarklet, which is just nice to use other websites.. check out the before-after screenshots..

So who thinks they should of kept with the tinyurl scheme and make it be just p.tinyurl.com instead of preview.tinyurl.com?

i think this is one for the devs of tinyurl.. on the other hand, a bookmarklet or a greasemonkey script could be scripted to show the actual link in the status bar whenever the cursor hovers over a tinyurl link. maybe by background-caching the actual link using the "preview" method.. :)

this feature can also be enabled by prefixing the url with "preview".. e.g from http://tinyurl.com/des32 to http://preview.tinyurl.com/des32 :)

yes, Darwin.. these things fall into pieces all by themselves.. maybe it's our natural subconcious instincts as hunters & gatherers.. :P (lanux128 making a feeble attempt at an anthropology analogy). anyway, that is why we have a thread with this mega-list of disc cataloguers (over 200 catalogers, as compiled by Crush & Tomos).

this is a cool topic, i always have this paranoia from the days of dial-up.. after downloading, i'll make a folder & throw the installers in it. after a while, sub-folders will appear categorizing them and eventually as folder gets bigger & bigger, i'll just burn them to a CD.. as the installers are deleted, i'll be relying on a disc cataloging program to index all these CDs and find out the contents in each of them.. :)

i hope by mentioning "a full firewall", you had meant a security suite with AV, anti-malware, etc thrown-in because there are a lot of firewall apps that are unobtrusive & light-weight. check out these threads where firewalls have been discussed before..

i've grabbed the latest PE which promises to hide itself from SecureROM but i reckon it'll be some time before i try out the demo as i blew another weekend playing Gothic 3.. :)

on another note, all the googling brought results to the latest patch that cracks SecureROM but no official work-around from SecureROM itself. i guess this highlights the angst it brings on to the gamers..
