So what are you saying, you married him for his looks?   ;D  You are very correct about diabetes, when my blood sugar level gets too high or too low, I can't think any better than a 2 year old.  (Now just wait for the jokes to start flowing.)

For myself, it's less about blood sugar level, and more about blood alcohol level. :P

(Not sure what Renny is referring to)

I'm talking there about the difference between:

* Basic and Advanced options (for the same functionality - perhaps easier to understand as basic being presets)
VS.
* More options that are advanced

They're not the same thing. More is more. Whether you call them advanced or whatever doesn't really matter too much. But, what I described above is a simpler interface for options vs. a more complex and versatile interface for options.

The screenshot above that mouser posted is not "basic/advanced" as I described - it's "more" options.

Funny that you should bring this up. I was thinking of starting the same thread. (Or very close anyways.)

90% of the time, I only care about BASIC stuff, but there are those times when I want/need/require ADVANCED control.

But, how do you properly handle transitioning between the two?

Do you treat them independently and have only 1 in effect at a time?

e.g.

Basic quality is set to "high", which in Advanced is 80.
Advanced quality changes to 70, which would be "medium" in Basic, but the Basic setting is left at "high".

Do you keep them in sync, but modify the one that is out of scope according to the settings you are currently working with?

e.g.

Basic quality is set to "high", which in Advanced is 80.
Advanced quality changes to 70, which would be "medium" in Basic, so the Basic setting is changed to "medium".

Two very different approaches. Preserve or adapt?

I'd like to know what people would normally expect.

They're fundamentally different, but both valid assumptions.

It's a great story ... But I'd have to call that one highly unlikely, given that the chip is generally way to busy planning its own (date based expiration/service "life") obsolence to care what you're trying to push through it.

I think he's joking.

I've just had several serious mind-fucks lately. In one, I was reading a physics book that talked about space-time curvature and non-curvature, and how the second law of thermodynamics properly applies to non-curved space-time. And that the reality is that space-time is curved. And that the second law of thermodynamics is not quite right as it doesn't account for curvature. At that point, I'm pretty fucking open to a whole whack-load of stuff~! :P (I'd already seen other materials that talked about similar kinds of things in physics.)

Not that interesting on it's own, and could be debug code that somebody forgot to take out...

At Samsung, everything must be done YESTERDAY. So, that's probably the most likely scenario. Dunno for sure.

Damnit!

Wasn't completely sure if you were joking or not. I quite literally have seen much stranger things.

My cell phone memory card is smaller than my thumb-nail and holds 16Gb.  That's a whole lot of information that can be stored, especially if stored in a text format.

True enough, but I'm thinking about the cost. Would they spend the extra? It's not the size so much as the $$$.

And then there's people like me that gets caught in Okinawa with a clip of high powered rifle rounds with tracers in my duffle-bag because my dumb-ass ex-wife put them in there.  They didn't get discovered in the states in the 3 airports I went through to get there.....

HAHAHAHA~! That's hilarious~! ;D

Hmm. My printer is Samsung, but last I knew it wasn't live connected to the net. So how would an attacker get to the back door? Is it only some models?

That chip in the ink cartridges that they tell you is to monitor levels actually monitors all connected computers, (including USB).

Then when you throw out or recycle the old cartridge, the government collects the information stored on that chip.

There goes my monopoly on crazy conspiracy theories news/fact/history. :P (But seriously - do you have any links for that? I somehow doubt that anyone would invest in enough memory to make it remotely useful like that. However, I've seen crazier stuff with lots of evidence to back it up. Stuff so crazy that no matter how much evidence there is, I'm still baffled at it.)

Oh yeah ... This was the third trip through the scanners ... Nobody had noticed the blade on the first two trips.

I had a similar situation one time going through airport security.

I was on my way from Seoul to Hong Kong to visit my sister, aunt and uncle. I quickly packed, as usual, grabbed my laptop bag, threw my laptop into it, and headed to the airport. Flew to Hong Kong, had a nice visit, and went to the airport to fly back.

I was stopped at security for having a small Swiss Army knife in my laptop bag. I'd completely forgotten about it when I left, and they missed it at security in Seoul (or they didn't care as it was quite small - the blade was just over an inch or so, and certainly less than 2 inches). They wanted to keep it, but it had sentimental value as it was a gift. I asked how I could keep it, and they put it in a bag, sent it around security, and I picked it up in Seoul.

This is sort of bizarre, and slightly disturbing.

I have a bank account that I rarely use, and the last time was a few years ago. Anyways, they have a kind of wacky login procedure, and I'd forgotten my password. Not wanting to get locked out, I phoned after 2 attempts to have the password reset.

Now, they have security questions, and one was "what kind of account" I have. Now, I had no clue and couldn't remember. But, wiggling around enough, I was able to get what type of account it was from the person on the phone, and I wasn't even trying.

People are just so darn helpful~! ;D

Screenshot Captor / Re: Has the time arrived for the 'Animated' Screenshots?
« Last post by Renegade on November 28, 2012, 07:00 AM »
Hello Folks!

How about an idea to pioneer for the 'Animated' screenshots?

Consumers, & in general Public are going more aggrieved day by day from their respective Governments & Corporates....!

Writing an email that incorporates an 'Animated' sceenshot(like a Booo..with an animated Thumbs Down) would help transverse the very expression, & hence an Outcome!

Also, along with the regular 'Clipart Objects', do introduce an 'Emoticon section' as well for yours Screenshot Captor.

I don't think that you're likely to get a better response through animated GIFs in emails. (That is the only possible animation in an email as no mail client supports anything else - those days were a disaster.) Or at least not when sending to government or corporations.

Affecting change is likely to be more effective when simply withdrawing financial support for government and corporations and getting as many people as you can to do the same, e.g. boycott McDonalds, boycott Monsanto products and manufacturers that use their poisons, etc. I'd get into that, but the thread is about animation...

It's likely more effective to record a video, then send a linked screenshot of it in your email. A YouTube screenshot or Vimeo screenshot is pretty distinctive, and people will know what they are.

GIF emoticons have been so badly used and abused over the years that they now have a very stale, sickening feel to them.

Another problem is that there are a lot of "smiley" emoticon companies that basically distribute spyware. Again, it sullies things.

It would likely be better to use some GIF animation software to create a custom message in an animated GIF, then put than in your email.

Now, I don't think this is particularly going to be effective, but, it's just a simple example:

Mr.-Bernanke-please-kill-yourself.gif

It takes a few minutes, but it's not particularly hard.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

It's by Joss Whedon, and if you like his stuff, you'll LOVE this. It's similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, episode 7, Once More with Feeling.

Interestingly enough, "transformation" happens with organisms engineered to produce the BT toxin (GMOs), and they infect the flora in your stomach, cause YOU to produce the BT toxin thereafter. So, after eating Monsatan's corn, you are effectively slowly killing yourself.

do you have any more info or reference for that?
(not hassling you for links :p just curious)

Well, I'm quite happy to oblige! If for no other reason than to illustrate that I'm not completely nuts and paranoid~! ;D

...a while later...

Hm. Trying to find the right reference, was, not all so easy... Had to wade through quite a bit, but found 1 (after skimming it, missing it, then re-reading later)! :D I'm sure you can find more out there.

http://www.nationofc...-monsanto-1338362046

...

These shocking results raise the frightening possibility that eating Bt corn might actually turn your intestinal flora into a sort of "living pesticide factory"… essentially manufacturing Bt-toxin from within your digestive system on a continuing basis.

If this hypothesis is correct, is it then also possible that the Bt-toxin might damage the integrity of your digestive tract in the same way it damages insects? Remember, the toxin actually ruptures the stomach of insects, causing them to die. The biotech industry has insisted that the Bt-toxin doesn't bind or interact with the intestinal walls of mammals (which would include humans). But again, there are peer-reviewed published research showing that Bt-toxin does bind with mouse small intestines and with intestinal tissue from rhesus monkeys.

Bt-Toxin Linked to Allergies, Auto-Immune Disease, and More

If Bt genes are indeed capable of colonizing the bacteria living in the human digestive tract, scientists believe it could reasonably result in:

  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Food allergies
  • Childhood learning disorders

And lo and behold, all of these health problems are indeed on the rise… The discovery of Bt-toxin in human blood is not proof positive of this link, but it certainly raises a warning flag. And there's plenty of other evidence showing that the Bt-toxin produced in GM corn and cotton plants is toxic to humans and mammals and triggers immune system responses. For example, in government-sponsored research in Italy , mice fed Monsanto's Bt corn showed a wide range of immune responses, such as:

Elevated IgE and IgG antibodies, which are typically associated with allergies and infections
An increase in cytokines, which are associated with allergic and inflammatory responses. The specific cytokines (interleukins) that were found to be elevated are also higher in humans who suffer from a wide range of disorders, from arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease, to MS and cancer
Elevated T cells (gamma delta), which are increased in people with asthma, and in children with food allergies, juvenile arthritis, and connective tissue diseases.
Rats fed another of Monsanto's Bt corn varieties called MON 863, also experienced an activation of their immune systems, showing higher numbers of basophils, lymphocytes, and white blood cells. These can indicate possible allergies, infections, toxins, and various disease states including cancer. There were also signs of liver- and kidney toxicity.

...

There are more about the BT toxin and just how bad it is. It's a non-stop horror story, and once you think it can't really get any worse, it does. Much worse. Hell... Even Rob Zombie would have a hard time coming up with anything sicker and more demented.

When the results of the study emerged, the funding from the pro-GMO UK government mysteriously dried up, so they were not able to see if the same type of gene transfer happens with Bt genes from, say, corn chips. If it does, it means that eating Bt corn might turn our intestinal flora into living pesticide factories—continually manufacturing Bt-toxin from within our digestive systems.

I don't know of a test that can confirm that this is happening, but the Canada study may be showing the results—where Bt-toxins are found in the blood of a very high percentage of people.

That was an older article there, but shows that the suspicions have been around a while.

It seems we're lucky that the following sort of situation is not extremely common (yet?):

About using vinegar and baking soda for a drain cleaner.  That old formula is pretty much an old wives tale.  The only thing those two together do is make a bunch of fizz.  It don't create any kind of acid to eat away the crap found in drains.  Don't believe me, put some baking soda in your hand, then pour on some vinegar and watch the fizz show.  No burned hand, just a bunch of fizzing.....  It does feel funny fizzing in your hand though.   ;D

Well, I tried it the other day on my clogged bathroom sink drain, and it worked. Not sure what else to say about it, but the evidence points to it actually working. Perhaps for more severely clogged drains it doesn't work, but it worked when I needed it to. I spoke with some friends, and they were surprised that I didn't know about it before, and said that they had been doing it for years.

I would really like to see some actual evidence-based science done in the mainstream.

Methinks that's a windmill, Don Quixote.  While I share your feelings, I don't - can't! - see that happening, in what's left of my lifetime, in any medico-governmental association <sigh/>.

Sigh... I hope you're wrong. I would really like to think that enough people are realizing the corruptness inherent in the system, and that enough people are speaking out about it. Hopefully, we will see an end to the medical tyranny being imposed on people.

There are some good sites out there that do speak out, and that have better information. Here are a few:

http://naturalsociety.com/

http://www.greenmedinfo.com/

http://www.naturalnews.com/

There are more out there as well. Natural News is probably one of the most outspoken and direct.

They regularly link to and report on all the stuff you never see in the MSM.
