MiniDuke, as researchers from Kaspersky Lab and Hungary-based CrySyS Lab have dubbed the threat,

Shouldn't that be... "MiniDuke; as researchers..."?

Nope.

A semicolon is used to connect two related (but independently complete) sentences, e.g., "At the mall I bought four things; my sister bought only two things."

DC Gamer Club / Re: Rogue likes for PC
« Last post by Deozaan on February 19, 2013, 03:33 AM »
I seem to have become a fan of the genre of "rogue like" games. I've heard this originated with Gauntlet.

Roquelikesw originated with Rogue (sort of). That's why they're "like Rogue."

Here are a few that should keep you busy for a while:

Angband
POWDER
Dungeons of Dredmor
Desktop Dungeons

Of the above, I've played them all, except for Angband which I've never played. I've spent most of my time playing POWDER, and the least time playing Dungeons of Dredmor, though I think Dredmor has more going for it that Desktop Dungeons.

Oh, and you can also play Dwarf Fortress in "Adventure Mode" which is very much a Roguelike. (Though I spent about 99%+ of my time with Dwarf Fortress playing Fortress Mode)

My Android phone can take photos in succession very quickly. Then again, I suppose that "very quickly" and "really fast" are imprecise, relative terms.
Thanks. If it's burst technology similar to BLINK, then I want one please.
I didn't know this technology was already readily available in phones. I shall read up about that.

I'm not sure if it is special technology or not. I think this is it what I'm experiencing (emphasis mine):

Galaxy Nexus sports a high-end camera with zero shutter lag, automatic focus, top notch low-light performance and a simple way to capture panoramic pictures.

I am getting pulling my hairs out at this moment :(

Developer's Corner / Re: Torque 2D & 3D Game Engines going open source (MIT)
« Last post by Deozaan on February 04, 2013, 10:39 PM »
Torque 2D is going to be joining Torque 3D as an open source game engine:

GarageGames is Proud to Announce Torque 2D MIT!

What is Torque 2D MIT?
Torque 2D MIT is an all new, open source, version of our 2D game development software. Following in the footsteps of Torque 3D, which went open source a few months ago, Torque 2D MIT will be available under the same (very permissible) MIT License very early next year.

It's more than just an open source version of Torque 2D!
Take Torque 2D, combine it with iTorque, add in Box 2D physics, several major enhancements and bug fixes, and make it open source. That is Torque 2D MIT.

Read more about it here: http://www.garagegam...ity/blogs/view/22164

so now for another question:  Is there a difference between flat screen computer monitors and flat screen televisions?  other than the connectors on the back maybe?

Flat screen TVs typically max out their resolution at the HD resolution of 1080p, which I believe is 1920x1080, whereas monitors can (and do) have higher display resolutions than that. A TV might be a better solution since a bigger display would mean the image would appear bigger on screen, since the resolution would stay the same no matter the size of the display.

No. No space research. Or else people/companies/governments will trademark habitable planets. ;) :P

This technically isn't a music video, but the music in the video is amazing. And the video itself is, too.

Stardust

http://vimeo.com/58626695

PostPanic director Mischa Rozema's new short film, Stardust, is a story about Voyager 1 (the unmanned spacecraft launched in 1977 to explore the outer solar system). The probe is the furthest man-made object from the sun and witnesses unimaginable beauty and destruction.

DC Gamer Club / Re: Headset recommendations
« Last post by Deozaan on January 31, 2013, 12:36 PM »
Since they enclose the ears, some people complain about comfort, but I never had a problem with them- they seem large enough that I don't know how anyone could complain, but I figured I'd give you that caveat.

I find earbuds are extremely painful to use after even relatively short periods (30+ min), and on-ear headphones are uncomfortable. It's the over-ear headphones that I find are nicer to use, especially for prolonged periods.

I've tried earbuds (painful!) on-ear headphones (painful!) and even the ones that hang on top of the ear and are on-ear (painful in multiple places!) I've found that circumaural headphones (like what wraith was talking about) are the most comfortable to me. They are large enough that my ears go inside, and padded enough that the part that rests against my head/face isn't irritated.

I have a Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000. I like it. I bought a few of them off eBay for about $20 each, IIRC.

But I guess I'm not sure how it compares to the expensive "gaming" headsets, or what makes a headset better for gaming as opposed to anything else.

Sounds like making it illegal to put Linux on a new computer you bought simply because it came with Windows pre-installed.
