General Software Discussion / Re: GAOTD & Virus
« Last post by scancode on December 18, 2008, 08:15 AM »
I was banned from posting on GOATD because I posted some registry keys that the uninstaller didn't remove. I e-mailed them twice asking what I had done wrong and I never received a reply.

The virus wanings ar false poitives. If you install a program that hooks into the system files and regisrty, most antivirus software will popup with a warning. An example is a nice program called Anvir Task Manager.

Giveawayoftheday's "inititive" is to help struggling developers from Russia and other Eastr Bloc countries. They are simply a marketing program site.

The Activate.exe file places the registration information in the regisry and then you run setup.exe and it sees the code and is immediately registerd as a full version.

I'd suggest anyone downloadng software from this site use Regshot to capture all the files and registry entries created by the install. Download it here:
http://www.majorgeek...com/download965.html

To fully uninstall the progam, most are basical simplistic in desin and useless use Revo Uninstaller. Download it here:
[http:/www.revouninstaller.com/

Interesting read. It's quite obvious, you've been banned for sharing the keys that didn't get removed, aka the registration info.
Also, I don't think it's fair to use Regshot to get it... But that's just me. :D

I tried andLinux (http://www.andlinux.org/) and I kinda like how easy it was to setup... I might write a full review if anyone's interested.

hi,

you play some sound or Mp3 music. for 30 secs -- 30-40db and for 10 secs - 90-100db.

what i would like is during the 10secs, <something> would auto-detect the loudness at 90-100db range during the 10 secs and then lower speaker volume and after the 10 secs, put back volume to normal

any idea?

I can do it... Can you pop into IRC so we can sort it out?

You mean something like a compressor/limiter for voice chat? Or am I completely nuts?

  • Don't pray in my school and I won't think in your church.
  • Those who believe absurdities will commit atrocities.
  • You keep believing, I'll keep evolving.
  • If god doesn't like the way I live, let him tell me, not you.
  • Doesn't it bother you that you put more logical thought into choosing a car than you do in choosing a god?

--- and most atheist/agnostic quotes... i just love that kind of wicked sense of humor.

I'd kill mouser for a DM²

It's an USB toy, but it can be converter into a fully working MIDI controller using some hacked drivers.
$20 on eBay, $130 on local stores... OUCH!

Life sucks!

Heh.

I used Faronics DeepFreeze, ShadowUser, and BackOnTrack...
For personal use, I swear by BOT... that single-key restore is awesome.
For the cafe computers, I think DeepFreeze pwns...

- Can be seriously taxing on your CPU at times.
- Unfinished.
- Physics engine could do with optimizations.
- Collisions between moving objects can be dodgy.

Build 22 is out!
Go review it! :D
