General Software Discussion / Re: DRM Management
« Last post by Curt on July 30, 2010, 04:23 AM »
AudialsOne, ...

... will find the drm protected files no matter if they can be converted or not. Meaning, that you can ask the program to auto-find and convert all your drm files, and when the converting is done, you can read in the program's window which files were not converted and where they are placed. These are the files you want to delete.

From there, you can use a program like ABBYY Screenshot Reader to get a list of the files. And from there it is just of matter of minutes before skwire or someone else can write you a snack to do the rest...

as I expected; my drm programs will not offer to (convert or) delete the files. However, Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate and AudialsOne will offer to open the containing folder, file per file. Tedious, if you have a lot, but usable. Aimersoft, DrmRemoval, and Wondershare would not offer to open the containing folder.

Of the two, Audials is by far the better program, but total overkill for this job.
Daniusoft is sometimes available on Giveawayoftheday.

... any opinion about Microangelo Toolset?

One can have an opinion without *knowing*. Microangelo Creation is $60 but seems not to have been updated for Vista or 7, since XP. Yet it is advertised as part of Microangelo Complete! ("Get Microangelo On Display, Toolset and Creation for $79.95!") without any warnings. To me, such behaviour doesn't inspire confidence...

@ rno2, or anyone!, can you please zip and attach one or two napster files, (<5MB), so I can check if any of my drm removers will offer to delete them? I don't have any "not-valid" drm files to test this.

AudialsOne, Aimersoft, Daniusoft, DrmRemoval, and Wondershare will all auto-find your drm protected files. But they will offer to remove the protection by converting the files, not to delete the files. I don't know of any program that from the word Go will offer to delete the drm protected files. If the drm protection cannot be removed, at least this way you will know where the files are located.

The programs will find the drm protected files no matter if they can be converted or not. Meaning, that you can ask the program to auto-find and convert all your drm files, and when the converting is done, you can read in the program's window which files were not converted and where they are placed. General Software Discussion / Code-it Software almost-giveaway
« Last post by Curt on July 27, 2010, 07:49 PM »
Code-it Software is a one-man's company in Wyoming, USA. The man is >>Mike Baker, its founder, has a 'B.S.' degree in 'Computer Science/ Programming' as well as an 'Associate of Science' degree in 'Electronics'. Mike has had many hours of A-Tech (Assistive Technology) training at Casper College (Casper, Wyoming) which he is especially proud of.<<

His is the author of programs like "KISS" (freeware), "Wave MP3 Editor PRO", "Text Transformer", and "Video Magic", and they are all suspicious low priced despite they each come with a lifetime license!

Is it also low quality then? No, it is good quality. Really good! Honestly, I don't get why his prices are that low, because too many people seems to conclude that it must be low quality, being so cheap, and they miss the point: MikeB is a really fine software author but simply just a poor marketer! And now I am at it, he is not the best diplomat either... quote from my first email from him: >>PS: be SURE to preserve your registration order number! You'll need it to request/ receive FREE version updates and special offers.<< ... the major problem being that by mistake I never got an order number! So, each time I want to update, I simply mail him the download link for the previous full version, and kindly ask for a new link.

Version history, re-download and upgrade policies...

Our upgrade policy is simple and straight forward. Version updates (Major and Minor) are always free: all that's required to get the newest version is to email [email protected] with your request AND some "proof of registration". I'll send you a personalized download link,
Made_In_Wyoming.jpg   http://www.code-it.com/
all our software is 100% FREE of  adware and/ or spyware: we don't send you newsletters (spam?) trying to sell you other products or services.

all our REGISTERED setups do not implement/ use "machine specific key-codes" : no connecting to the iNet, for registration, so we can verify that it is only installed on one system. They are full registered versions that the EULA gives you license to install/ use on as many PERSONAL systems as desired.

we do not develop or release software that implements the use of DRM or any function that "calls home" to verify registration.

The reason I am posting about Code-it right now is, that I have realized that these weird low priced applications right now are offered at an even more ridiculous low price. Read what you get for $10, it is of another planet:

Wave MP3 Editor PRO tools...
http://www.code-it.com/wave_editor.htm

The following is a list of most all the specialized tools you get with PRO: some are "one trick ponies" and others have complex functions...

eagle_flag_resized.jpg  http://www.code-it.com/

Audio Player - yet another "boom box" type audio/ video player that offers most any advanced option you'll ever need.
CD Player - gets the CD information (i.e. cover art, song titles, etc...) options to play.

iNet Radio Retriever/ Recorder - play and record (to MP3) many popular iNet radio stations - something for all - build your music collection fast and easy. Oh, by the way - this "recorder" also automatically splits the music/ tunes: no need to do this manually!

KAR Player - OK - you know what "KAR" files don't you? If not - the KAR file type is primarily associated with 'Karaoke MIDI File'.

MP3 Crossfader Player - "Cross fading" is simply the fading out of 1 song, as you fade in a 2nd song so there's no break or pause between songs. And in fact at the centerpoint of the crossfade, the two songs are fully merged at the same volume level.

Playlist Maker - M3U or PLS
RockN Audio DJ - All you need now to mix music
Tune Library - the Tune Library is an easy way to find and organize your music, giving you ultimate control of your MP3 / WAV/ WMA and CD music collection.

Wild Thing - This is a very cool MP3 Player that allows you to insert music "samples" into the playing stream. Lots of advanced options such as recording the output stream for future use, equalizer and other effects, etc.

Audio Mixer/ Overdub Recorder & Mixer - mix files or overdub your voice to a file
iNet Radio Retriever/ Recorder - play and record (to MP3) many popular iNet radio stations

Recordster - a very advanced audio recorder. Records to WAV or MP3 on the "fly": no temp files created. Options to stop after silence is detected, timed recording, record input in a "equalized state" (acts as an "Equalizer Recorder"), set format and sample rate of your recording, etc...

Rewind Recorder - ever wanted to record sound AFTER you've heard it? Maybe you were listing to an iNet Radio broadcast and wanted to record something that was spoken - well... this software will do just that!

Silence Stalker - automatically records and split tracks by detecting silence.
Timed Recorder - record for a set amount of time to WAV or MP3.
Timed Recorder (within the editor) - record for a set amount of time directly into the editor - then save as whatever format/ sample rate you desire.

USB Playback Recorder - This initiative recorder was developed to solve a common problem when recording old vinyl records (or cassette tapes).

General Software Discussion / Re: Media players
« Last post by Curt on July 27, 2010, 03:37 PM »
I have never found a media player that really made it a 100 %; there always seems to be something not ideal. For half a year I have been running Windows Media Player 11, for MP3s only, and Media Player Classic Homecinema for videos (all but divX). I have purchased a couple of media players, Cowon jetAudio, RealPlayer 11 Plus, WinAmp Pro, QuickTime Pro, but I am never using them. In general, I think "pro" version of various media players have too many features (except for QT!) - well, features I don't want - making them launch and load too slowly, and/or taking up too much screen area, and/or needing too much attention. MPC Homecinema suites me quite good, but doesn't like large memory hungry movies. Yet, it hasn't been updated since 28-Aug/2009. So actually I still want to find a media player!

-good looking program. And a fair asking price, I must price: $5!

I have been using the free Screamer Radio for a couple2 of years and am quite happy with it. It is no longer updated, but except for the layout of the auto-naming of recorded files, I don't want it to change. The auto-naming config' would be fine if it was the news, I was recording, but it isn't. Screamer is a music radio only.

nice to hear new music again - thanks!
I hadnt heard Bird before, Curt. There's a couple of other good tracks by her (but not much)

-no, not much. She plays the cello, and that is not the best ground for launching CDs en masse on a pop market... But the one I've linked to, Some Boys, wow... I am amazed. Of course the recording was dubbed, but think about it: (an entire CD with) a girl and a cello, and nothing else! It is so  awing!

Edited:
Bird's one CD is called Girl and a Cello
re-edited: actually, it is her second CD. But the first one was quite different.

also, it should be noted that it still is in alpha stage, and bugged.

-yeah, it really is good looking, and with a very high image quality. I just don't prefer it over IrfanView. Also, I believe it takes quite a lot of memory, if you have a large photo collection. One annoying feature I was unable to have my way, is the duration of the transition between images, full sized - the default is way too slow for my lack of patience.

Please, "testers", tell me if you are getting the proper UTF-8 characters or merely a lot of question marks, as I do, in this place in the original AlohaWorld.html file:

Today, "aloha kakahiaka" is the phrase for "good morning." "Aloha ??auinal??" means "good afternoon" and "aloha ahiahi" means "good evening." "Aloha k??kou" is a common form of "welcome to all."

In modern Hawai??i, numerous businesses have aloha in their names, with more than 3 pages of listings in the O??ahu phone book alone.

Startup Delayer 3.0 in progress
05:59:23 PM on 5th June 2010

I'm currently working on Startup Delayer 3.0.

This version will have 100% support for Windows 7 as well as some new automatic features for launching applications.

I'm completely rewriting it in a new language in order to give me the most flexibility with future upgrades.

I'm also completely redesigning the User Interface to make it more up to date and easier to use.

But thanks for the tip on WinFF.

I had clearly forgotten why I don't use FFmpeg: authors, offering their applications packed in "bzip2 tarball" or "gzip tarball" only, are doomed to be neards writing nerdish programs for neards. One can never trust such people to deliver userfriendly solutions.

I would recommend MediaCoder above most.

But thanks for the tip on WinFF. I will go and see if I can find it.
