Found Deals and Discounts / CaptureSaver 40% discount
« Last post by Curt on August 15, 2010, 08:07 AM »
I have been quite impressed with CaptureSaver. At first, I didn't think much of it, because I imagined it was a "screen to image" capturer. But it is much more than that. Like surfulater or ultra recall. It will even filter the capture for scripts and adverts, etcetera. And it is not a replacement for your copier/capturer, but an independent extension to such. Hotkeys are, Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, Ctrl+3.

It can start minimized, but you must alter the shortcut yourself - there is no "start with Windows" or "start minimized". However, it will automatically minimize to systray/notification area.

The techishare page, Capture And Save With CatureSaver, is superb, but having read it, all of it, I still need more time to figure out all the features - or more correctly, to figure out the differences between When&How to capture text / pages / images, and what do we have.

But without fully understanding the possibilities with this program, I am all together quite impressed. The asking price is a little too high - I don't think I would purchase this program at it's full lifetime-license price, $70 + VAT. But with the 40% discount, I am hoping I can afford to take the offer. They have some everyday "offers" for poor people like me, One year $40, Two years $50, Lifetime $60, but you know, it is expensive to be poor. The 40% offer runs out by the end of August - you can find the 40% discount coupon code, CAPT-E9CS, on http://www.techishar...e-with-capturesaver/

CaptureSaver Features :

   1. Capturing complete Web pages or selected content from a web page
   2. Capturing text from window and screenshots
   3. Acquisition of text and images
   4. Organizing, Browsing and editing articles
   5. Searching for content, reuse and Share Information Easily
   6. Comprehensive research and reference library, which can be used both online and offline.

At first I was annoyed because of the program popping up, because inside my head I was thinking something like "screenshot"-program. But beginning to understand how much more it is, I am also accepting those popups, because I want to be able to find the saved files again...

On the Internet, CaptureSaver lets you capture rich HTML text and images from web pages and save web pages in their entirety. It automatically captures the web page address (URL), the page Title, a thumbnail image of Web page and Meta information.

Capture the current link on which you right clicked and save the webpage corresponding to the link, simply select Add to CaptureSaver from the popup menu. The next window that will open will give more choices such as click “Click for more” button and select “All Links” while the “Save current entire page” dialog appears.

I urge you to go and read techishare's informing page.

a user comment:
I decided to try out capturesaver before commenting,..., such a great webclipper and knowledgebase this is,..., seems integrating fine, export functions wich is great, copy across knowledgebases is brilliant, capture text\contents screenshots from selection, secured knowledgebases, formatting & much more,...

Found Deals and Discounts / WinUtilities canceled
« Last post by Curt on August 15, 2010, 07:09 AM »
For the past 6 months dotTech has been running a WinUtilities Professional Edition giveaway, allowing dotTechies to grab WinUtilities Professional Edition for free. Recently, because of a disagreement between dotTech and YL Computing (the developer of WinUtilities), YL Computing has canceled the WinUtilities Professional Edition giveaway and dotTechies will no longer receive free updates.

If you have WinUtilities Professional Edition currently installed using dotTech's registration information do not update the program or else it will revert to the trial version.

Furthermore, it seems like YL Computing has also canceled the giveaway with other sources like Softpedia, so you can't grab it from there anymore either.

I don't understand how any un/zipper can be faster or easier to use (or less bloated) than 7Zip

I think it's more that 7-Zip feels like .. well .. an open source project :-[.

-spot on!:

The download links above redirect you to download pages on SourceForge.net

WinRAR for rar archives for really only one reason - the ability to keep broken files.  Something no other archiver I've tried seems to be able to do, is it really that hard to not have the program delete temporary files?

-you're right. This should be a common feature

I don't understand how any un/zipper can be faster or easier to use (or less bloated) than 7Zip, but the number of DC members using WinRAR, makes me wonder if maybe I should have a closer look at my 3.80. But it would be interesting to know if I am missing any features or something. So my two or three questions for all you WinRAR users are: How many of 'you' are using an old giveaway version (like mine 3.80), versus the newest payware version (3.93). Should I update/upgrade?
 :tellme:

I never knew (or, have long forgotten) about WinRAR EXTRAS. Are 'you' using some extras? If, yes, give us a (micro-)review, please!

...I use 7zip (command line) daily at work and home. I know that it's interface need improvement but it gets the job done.

-one reason I am using 7Zip (always via context menu) is because I never see the interface. Other than that, I use Vista's default if I only have to open a single container.

I have various other 'zippers', but are never given any reason to use them.

Also, CleanAfterMe remove MUI Cache entries and ccleaner doesn't.
-PhilB66
Actually it can but not by default.
Go to CCleaner Forum and download the winapp2.ini archive file, extract it to your CCleaner directory and it will add a whole lot of new things to clean, (providing they're installed), to CCleaner, including MUICache.

Yesterday SoftMaker launched a new font family, Ballantines:
http://new.myfonts.c.../ballantines-serial/

All 7 fonts: only $29.99

click for large (723x585 pixels):

ballantines.gif

Only the fat (bold) font is part of SoftMaker's infiniType 3 http://www.infinityp...tinesSerial-Bold.htm , the rest is so new it isn't even on SoftMaker's site, yet.

Edited:
The word processor will merely display these seven fonts as six fonts because bold of course is regular plus the bold button, (I searched for a long time before understanding this).

don't forget that many of these people don't speak/read/write English any better than my mother. Well, to put it straight; most are Russians... you need to make it simple. Don't blur a question by telling that you know this and that... >>I guess it might be possible to export to mbox and then import into Foo<< could simply be confusing to her; Is it a question or what?

I have already tried this too many times: I upload a fine quality movie, and YouTube will show it nicely; it keeps the good quality. I upload a not-so-good-quality movie, and YouTube degrades the (lack of) quality even further, making the resulting quality totally bad. I simply cannot understand what criteria YouTube wants me to meet.

Did any of the 'you' figure out how to upload a poor quality movie to YouTube WITHOUT having it degraded even further?  :tellme:
