OK I've made it to 30K - the majority of my visits are under 10K though.
How are you getting on with it?

I think that more bullets would be more effective than quicker rotation - and I dunno about making it too easy -
FWIW I'd be worrying about the opposite myself...

Edit// I got to admit it's too difficult for me - considering the time I'm willing to play.
I think you need to make the game overall easier (I dont know does it continue getting more difficult anyway in term of increase of asteroids?). But (1) I'm not a gamer and (2) I'm a different generation - so your milage may very well vary :-)

I know how to open a link from (an older version of) Opera in FF - is that any help to you?
Text copied from Opera is plain text, so I got help there (on the Surfulator forum actually)

Anything may help. Welcome of course. I am learning. Just trying.
 :-*

seeems to be included by default in Opera these days:

@40hz which brought me here - completely off-topic and I guess NSFW
(still Smack the Pony though)

Spoiler

I guess I could create a text file from each column, and compare somehow (dont have anything installed for that so if this the course to take, pleaase recommend something)
You might try a port of Unix comm, which I mentioned in DONE: Are any of the files missing???

thanks rj - I just changed the thread title to reflect that I got a solution (as quoted in reply #3). Not sure if this would work the same in other spreadsheet programmes, but using Planmaker:

apply this formula below in conditional formatting dialogue to cell B2 (B1 is column header)
=MATCH(B2;$A$1:$A$xxx;0)>=1
where xxx is the number of rows in column A that you want to compare with the rest e.g 400.
Apply some sort of highlighting formatting in the dialogue
you then transfer that formatting to all other cells that you want to compare with column A. This automatically adjusts the formula (you can tell I'm a real spreadsheet noob here lol)
Everthing that is duplicated is highlighted - so my numbers were the ones that werent highlighted

Resulting in the image in my previous post
3885
After a bit of messing around - I got a simpler variation on that one working using conditional formatting with formula.
I found quite a few that had been missed (the info should all have been transferred already to the 'default' file, i.e. column A).

I hope I havent put you to too much trouble on this one Ath, and thanks for the offer

I should have said :-[ I also posted in the Softmaker forum and just got an answer using conditional formatting.
I'll have to study it a bit (I'm a very basic spreadsheet user).

This can be done via conditional formatting.
In the attached sample document, columns B and C got a red background as standard format.
Then, all cells in columns B and C got conditional formatting using the formula =MATCH(B1;$A$1:$A$36;0)>=1, which renders the background transparent if the condition is fulfilled, i. e. the number in the cell matches with any number in column A.
(NB: This is the original formula for cell B1; it was then transferred to the other cells using "Transfer cell formatting".)
Now, if in columns B or C any cell contains a number existing in column A, the conditional formatting makes the background transparent. If the number in a cell is not present in column A, conditional formatting doesn't work and the original red background is visible (as in cell C11).

A few questions upfront:
  • 1) How to determine the number of columns?
  • 2) What's the standard file-format, Excel (xls, xlsx), CSV, LibreOffice (odf)?
  • 3) What's the desired output? Messagebox, console, file: format?
(I numbered them)

1) There's the 'Default' column and seven six others (one was almost the same as the 'Default' so I was able to rule that out 'manually')

2) current file format is .xls (created with Planmaker/Softmaker)

3) Output doesnt matter - there wont be many (there might not even be any). I just need to know from which column the number came (column indicates a particular file with related info). Even if I can only get a screenshot of the results, I'll be happy ;-)

Edit// FWIW, I may have to do this again at a later stage (if I get more info from a different source)
3888
First, I dont have excel - I use Softmaker Office/Planmaker and Libre Office. I can get access to Excel though if the solution lies there.

Summary:
I'm wondering if it's possible -- using any type of software --to find numbers in a spreadsheet that are NOT shown in the first column?

Screenshot - 2014-01-31 , 10_28_22_ver002.png

In the screenshot, '674', in cell C131, does not exist in the first column.

The first column should contain all the numbers shown elsewhere -- but I'm not 100% certain it does.
So, if there is a number elsewhere in the sheet which is not duplicated in column one, I need to know the number, and also to know which column it is in (FWIW, it's location within the column is not important). This is (possibly) complicated by the fact that a number could exist twice in one column -- but still not be in first column; or a number could be shown in multiple columns, except for first (the latter is unlikely and should not be the case).

I guess I could create a text file from each column, and compare somehow (dont have anything installed for that so if this the course to take, pleaase recommend something)

TIA, Tom

N.A.N.Y. 2013 / Re: NANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader
« Last post by tomos on January 30, 2014, 04:46 PM »
sImgurUploader only works with an anonymous API account so I'd choose the "Anonymous usage without user authorization" option (and leave the second part blank).

I'm not allowed to leave part two blank :-(

Screenshot - 2014-01-30 , 22_04_28.png

So,
I tried 1b (see post #35) and got this:

Screenshot - 2014-01-30 , 23_25_27.png

which looked to me that, for authorisation, I type
Authorization: Client-ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (xxxxx... being the client ID given)
no joy, so I tried variations with the 'Application name'; then with both Client ID's, and then everything (I think :-[) without 'Authorisation' before - tbh I made the mistake of not keeping track of everything I tried ... :-\

Any ideas :)

edit #2 // maybe I have to give it a bit of time (and make a sacrificial offering ;D ) before it will work?

You must have your own Imgur Anonymous API key for this application to work.  On its first run, sImgurUploader will ask you to enter your API key.  Without one, the application will exit.  If you do not have an Imgur Anonymous API key, you can get one here: http://imgur.com/register/api_anon.

anyone got any tips for getting the API key?
Dont know what to select here at #1. Also no clue with #2:

Screenshot - 2014-01-30 , 12_25_24.png

=> I'm veering towards 'b' for #1 (with #2 empty then), but thought I'd better check :)

thanks

this related? (from the 21st)

This is crazy but IMM.IO has been down for weeks. I do hope they get back up and running again but if they do not I am afraid that ICUP will be down also.... well I guess I can just take out the upload part, but that was why I mainly wrote the app.

In a similar vein I have Windows Update set to Never Check for Updates.  After a couple of weeks passed I got a splash page "Windows Update Needs Your Help.. It hasn't been able to check for updates" etc..  Help it?  I want to kill it dead dead dead.  Seems there's no happy medium.  No fixes at all or 50 a day.

Notifications of updates doesnt work well here either - I think I've gotten one notification in three months. (In fairness, there *is* some sort of reminder as you boot, but it's too discreet -- for me anyway).

And if you set if to 'Notify', the antivirus (Defender?) doesnt update at all
I found a way to get it to update using the scheduler, but it's not very nice...

Anyone have a tip to show what file types are assigned to Metro apps?  I am disgusted... I was emailed a wav file (for a voice message) and started playing it. About 5 seconds in, a blasted box pops up "This app needs an update, please download it from the Store to continue".  Really, Microsoft?  Can't listed to a stinkin' wav file without an update??  I will gladly reassign all file types possible away from behavior like this!

music and images get sent to Metro. There may be other casualties, I'm not sure.

I'm wondering if we dont update all these apps - is there a security risk? They're very free and easy with an internet connection - might even be worth looking at options to block them all (?)

Looking for a simple checklist (windows) app:

Background:
I have a very long list of entries/numbers - I have to double-check these with info from other sources.
Occasionally due to new info that also relates to other entries, I have lost track of what has been checked.
(Not good if I miss something :-[)

I thought a simple checklist would be helpful:

  • Once the list is done I would need to be able to clear the [ticks] easily
  • Ideally I would be able to enter the entry/number I'm working on somewhere in the window
  • Ideally I could have multiple instances

Did do a search but couldnt see anything that fitted my needs - but my search-fu aint so good...
any ideas?
TIA

Didnt get back to it till today- I'd say it's almost impossible for a beginner now. I have made it to 26k but that was one of those super-fit days - mostly I'm getting below 10k :-/

Some thoughts/queries:

Is there a way of having the speed accelerate at the game progresses? (Sounds complex).

Otherwise I'd say a solution could be more bullets - and lots of 'em :D
Currently
1) you get a pulse of bullets, then a pause before the next pulse - this pause is the biggest killer in the current version...
2) if you rotate quickly, no bullets fire - not 100% sure here, but *think* it would be good if firing continued

A faster rate of bullets would be good too imo.
