Living Room / Re: Fun - will ferrell as bush
« Last post by Darwin on December 03, 2007, 07:14 PM »
That was good, thanks justice. There was a link on the page to this one as well: Will Ferrell as George Bush on Global Warming, which I found very funny as well.

So, back to XP Sp-3 RC-1, any updates from Nighted and blarson as to stability?

Pretty cool, app. Thanks for the link. I was disappointed at not being able to crack any of them other than linear A, which is so clearly a shopping list ("milk, eggs, sheep's brains") that I am embarrassed for the people who have based their careers on trying to crack it.

Dang! That wasn't as easy as I anticipated, Lashiec. I feel like a proper wanker...

Drat... They're taking people from the top 10 comments, but there are way too many now. :(

Oh well.

Yes - that was my experience three hours ago... I wish I'd seen Lashiec's post when it first went up!

Cool. Thanks, Zaine! I don't know how I missed this this morning but I've seen it now and I'm off to read

Didn't we have a user here who works in the adult industry?  Maybe we can ask him.

Yeah... you're thinking of EmporerEJ, who runs the VirtualSexMachine.com website.

I've already e-mailed them about academic licensing, so I'll let you know what they say, urlwolf. I've downloaded the demo and installed it but haven't done anything with it yet (other than to try opening/importing an excel file - no dice). My initial impression is that the GUI is beautifully thought out and executed. I have 30 days to wring it out and will report back with my progress.

Thanks for confirming that, mwb1100 - that's the first thing I thought of when I read that as well.

Maybe I'm adrift but I'm sure I recall fuss and commotion about recording to open-reel tape, and later cassette, well before 1980.  Apple was started in '67 and the mystical anti-recording signal stuff came almost at once, if I recall it right.

I wonder if this was another one of Magic Alex' "brainwaves"?

Quantrix looks NICE. Unfortunately, it's a Pro tool with a price to match (in either the Standard or Pro flavour). I can't help thinking that it looks perfect for my PhD, though... and they do offer academic pricing... Right, nothing for it but to download a demo  :o

Nice find, nontroppo - thanks for the link. I've just scanned the article but intend to read it more carefully. I'll add that site to those that I follow - looks interesting

I'm not sure that I follow, Lashiec... Are you suggesting that the directors of the RIAA companies that are being so dogmatic about DRM are the same kids that were home taping "in the day" (or that they were the nerdy ones spending their paperroute money on legit Perry Como LPs)?

Even more file types I never heard of.  :)
Wonder if the author is after a "world record"...

Hadn't quite thought of it like that, but you're right! I often read the Archivarius history file and realise that I haven't heard of the newest file types supported.

Well, that settles that (scratches an old itch, so to speak). I suppose today's teens are just as blissfully unaware of/unmoved by the legality of swapping music. Some interesting reading, Ralf. Thanks. I liked the anecdote about the Dead Kennedy's tape that was released blank on one side, labelled: "Home taping is killing big business profits. We left this side blank so you can help" (even if most people didn't have the equipment to actually record anything on it).
