DC Gamer Club / Re: Risk of Rain 4-pack
« Last post by Deozaan on June 22, 2014, 12:46 AM »
Apparently you can edit an ini file which will allow you to have more than 4 players in an online game. :)

You go into your prefs file in the Risk of Rain steam folder and change the max_players_online=4 line.

Maybe because they decided that most connection speeds and display resolutions have improved enough that 480 isn't an unreasonable default?

EDIT: Oh, I see now that the link is for YouTube Live Streaming. I don't really see where it says the default has changed there. And it seems lower resolutions are still offered.

Another EDIT: I know that the size of my browser window will affect the default player size. For example, if I've recently downloaded something and the download bar is showing at the bottom of my browser, the YouTube player will be smaller. If I close it, it will resize to a larger area and set the quality of the video to 720p. So maybe you've just resized your browser window recently?

Hi folks,

I'm looking for one more person to get in on a 4-pack for Risk of Rain.

It would be about $1.88 per copy.

Any takers?

Thanks.

Here are some photos of when I was trying out a 4K 39" TV as my monitor:

39" TV with my now-dwarfed 26" monitor peeking over the top.

As stated in the thread linked above, I felt that the 39" TV was just too huge to be conducive to working at my PC and I ended up returning it.

I don't even know why people would use a video site for music anyway. Why not just use BandCamp or SoundCloud?

That's what I mean. BC can make laws about California all they want. But they don't have the authority/power to enforce those laws in California. The only way those laws would make a difference is if Google/California/USA chose to follow them.

Vimeo has its own problems. It has been known for taking down videos of "gameplay" (for videogames) simply because Vimeo considers itself a website for artistic videos and they don't consider videogames artistic enough... or something.

Erm... How can a province of Canada tell a U.S. company what to do?

What about that thing called jurisdiction? Or that other thing called sovereignty?

Oh hey! I found the problem...

Apparently I grabbed the wrong folder during my attempt to move the files. Somehow I had the parent directory of the "BaseDirectory" selected, so I've been looking in the wrong place this whole time.

The answer was even there in the screenshot I posted earlier. See how the directories are different?

I'm pretty sure they're not hidden, as I said, I've got my PC configured to show hidden and system files. But I'll try Unhide.

Unhide seems to be processing every file on every drive in my PC... This could take a while...

I suppose I could also try using my FTP client to upload the files somewhere, then re-download them again...

Or Linux LiveCD is a good idea.

Hey Larry Page? Didn't somebody resembling you once say "Do no evil"?

That's a common misunderstanding. What he actually said was "Do know evil." Which is why Google are so good at collecting and analyzing every detail of our lives. :P

Definitely not a cached version. This is after multiple reboots. And I pressed F5 just to make sure. They're still there. I can even move them around using my FTP client. But that doesn't make them show up in Windows Explorer in their new location.

I just tried XYplorer and it can't see them either. Unless maybe there's some advanced configuration I'm not aware of (I'm not a regular user of XYplorer).

Living Room / [SOLVED] Please Help Me Recover Invisible Files!
« Last post by Deozaan on June 17, 2014, 02:20 PM »
Yesterday I was attempting to move a folder containing subfolders which had music files in them. It had a structure like so:

BaseFolder
--Subfolder1
----Lots of files
--Subfolder2
----Lots of files

After the move operation was completed (using TeraCopy), the "BaseFolder" was created in the new location, but it was empty. I've had similar experiences with TeraCopy in the past (but that's usually with it leaving behind empty folders after performing a move operation) so I went to the "old" location to try the move again, but the BaseFolder was empty there, too!

I was wondering where the files went if they didn't get moved. Surely they weren't just deleted! Alas, I couldn't find the files anywhere on my HDD, so I thought I had lost them. I even ran a checkdisk to see if it could recover them. Long story made shorter, I found that they appear in their old location when viewing the "BaseFolder" in my FTP client. But they don't show up in Windows Explorer (or cmd prompt).

So the files are there! Now the question is how do I make the files show up again like normal files? I already have my PC configured to show "hidden" and "system" files. But they still won't show up for me. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to restore the files to their original state?

I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean even with those changes, but from what I can tell, you're talking about "configuring" the application.

An example sentence could be:

"After the application is installed, make sure to configure it properly."

Use Titanium Backup (requires root) and "Freeze" the app.

For OpenDNS, you can also easily update your IP with a click of the button when you're logged into their dashboard on your "Settings" tab. But I suppose it's probably best to use the client or have a static IP somehow.

The Google Earth Plugin is currently only available on Windows and Mac OS X 10.6+.

:(

... or else I'd play.   Multnomah Falls, Hoh Rain Forest, Channeled Scablands of Eastern Washington are all beautiful places, but I can't 'Earth View' them on Google Maps.  Sorry 'bout that.

There's no Google Earth application/client for Linux?

You sure you didn't mean Ctrl-Shift-Esc? That brings up the Task Manager, which is what most people want to do when they press Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Can't you just mount the Android device as a USB drive and transfer the files using your File Manager of choice?
